Activity 1.1-1: Introduction to Authorware

Define the following:

1. Authorware- a well-known visual writing program from Adobe for Windows and Mac. A
variety of learning management system standards are met by the output produced by authorware,
which is widely used to create interactive content for corporate networks, CDs, DVDs, and the
Web. Without knowing any coding, users may import Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and
mix them with other media. Previously, Authorware's rights belonged to Macromedia.

2. Dr Michael Allen - The well-known PLATO computer-based education system, which is


utilized all over the world, was directed by Dr. Michael Allen as its program manager. He
established the company and served as its first chairman.

3. PLATO - PLATO was the name of the first extensively used computer-assisted training
program (Programmed Logic for Automatic Teaching Operations). Beginning in 1960, it ran on
the ILLIAC I computer at the University of Illinois.

4. Control Data Corporation - The Control Data Corporation was established in Minneapolis in
1957 by a number of engineers from the adjacent Univac facility. They eventually gained fame
for creating extremely powerful scientific computing systems, many of which were created by
Seymour Cray and his colleagues. Seymour Cray eventually left in order to launch his own high-
speed computer business in 1972.

5. TUTOR - An information and communications technology (ICT) tutor can help a student
how to utilize technology for education by teaching them how to use certain applications. In
order to assist students, advance their education and develop new abilities, an ICT instructor may
also make use of radio, television, computers, and other technologies. Technology is used by this
kind of teacher to involve the class in the learning process.

6. Macintosh - The Mac range of personal computers was created and distributed by Apple Inc.
Macs are popular among students, creative professionals, and software developers because of
how easy they are to use and how plain they seem.

7. Microsoft Windows - Under the name Windows, Microsoft developed and offers a variety of
proprietary graphical operating system families. Every family caters to a certain sector of the
computer industry. A few examples include Windows NT for end users, Windows Server for
servers, and Windows IoT for embedded devices.
8. Internet Explorer 7 - Windows Internet Explorer 7 is a web browser for Windows. On
October 18, 2006, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7, the latest version of the browser and a
replacement for Internet Explorer 6.

9. Macromedia Flash - An animation, rich web application, desktop application, smartphone


app, mobile game, and embedded web browser video player may all be created with Adobe
Flash. Flash provides animations, games, and applications by displaying text, vector graphics,
and raster images.

10. Macromedia Director - Macromedia developed Adobe Director, a platform for creating
multimedia applications, which was run by Adobe Systems until it was discontinued. The main
editor for the Adobe Shockwave platform, which dominated the interactive multimedia sector in
the 1990s, was called Director.

11. HyperCard's - A programming language called Hyper Talk enables users to program these
cards and the connections between them, which is how the HyperCard idea works.

12. Educational Technology - The study of educational technology focuses on ways to better
educate and learn by analyzing, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating the learning
environment, instructional materials, students, and the learning process.

13. Computer-based training - Computer-based training (CBT), a kind of eLearning, uses


computers to provide instructional content. On new software packages, organizational rules, or
safety considerations, employees may undergo CBT training. Additional advantages include
memory retention and refresher training.

14. web-based training - Web-based training refers to any sort of supplied online training
(WBT). Other names include online training, eLearning, and distance learning (IBT). 

15. Learning Management System - A learning management system is used to administrate,


document, track, report on, automate, and deliver an educational course, training program, set of
materials, or learning and development program. E-Learning is where the concept of a learning
management system originated.

16. JavaScript - JavaScript, often abbreviated as JS, is a programming language that is one of the
core technologies of the World Wide Web, alongside HTML and CSS.
