Semester IIIrd and IVth

Total Marks - 100

Max Marks: Theory – 30 Pass Marks - 35% Time allowed - 3 hours

Max Marks: Practical – 60 Pass Marks - 40% Time allowed: 4 hours


Internal assessment – 10 Marks

Note: Minimum of nine teaching hours (12 Periods) per week to be assigned to the subject and out of 12
periods 9 to be earmarked for Practical and 3 for theory.
Instruction For Paper Setter for Practical

The Practical paper will be of 60 marks. There will be two Practical papers of 30 marks each.

Instructions for Paper Setter for Theory

The Question Paper will consist of three Sections: A, B and C. Section A and B will have 4 questions of
five marks each from respective sections, candidates will be given a choice to attempt any 2. Section C
will have 5 compulsory questions of two marks each covering entire syllabus.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES

Candidates are required to attempt two questions from section A and B, which will be of 5 marks each.
Section C is of 10 marks.

Semester III
Section A
1. Gupta Period: Brief history and detailed study of following sculptures:
i. Seated Buddha from Sarnath
ii. Standing Buddha from Mathura
iii. Vishnu from Mathura
iv. Copper Buddha from Sultanganj
v. Vishnu Anantsaya from Deogarh temple

2. Rashtrakuta Period: Brief history, introduction to Ellora and Elephanta caves and detailed study of

i. ‘Ravana Shaking Mount Kailash’ at Ellora

ii. Shiv Mahadeva (Trimurti) at Elephanta

iii. Marriage of Shiva and Parvati at Elephanta

3. Pallava Period: Brief History, introduction to Mammalapuram and detailed study of

i. Descent of Ganges’

ii. Durga Mahishasurmardini

4. Chola Period: Brief History and detailed study of

i. Shiva Nataraja
ii. Parvati

5.Study of Mudra and Asanas: Abhaya, Varadana, Dharam Chakra Parivartan, Bhumi Sparsh Mudra and
Tribhanga, Vajra asana, Maharaj Leela Asana, and Padam asana.

iv. Death of Inayat Khan
v. Shah Jahan Hunting Lions

SECTION –B

3. Rajasthani Paintings: Brief history of the paintings of Malwa, Bundi and Kishangarh. Detailed
study of
i. Deepak Raga (Mewar)
ii. Ragini Bhairav (Bundi)
iii. Bani Thani (Kishangarh)

4. Pahari Paintings: Brief history of the paintings of Kangra, Basohli and Guler. Detailed study of

i. Kangra paintings of Radha Krishna


ii. Portrait Paintings of Rajas
iii. Nayak Nayika paintings
PAPER –B : PRACTICAL

Instruction for Paper Setter

Note: Candidate will appear for two practical exams per semester.

1. The syllabus is self explanatory.


2. Choice of medium should be selected as per paper .
3. While evaluating the examiner should see the competency, artistic composition, technical aspects
of tone, texture and quality.

SEMESTER - IIIrd

PAPER I: POSTER/ BOOK COVER

Time: 4 hours M.MARKS: 30

MEDIUM: Poster colors

SIZE: ½ imperial for Poster and 15x20 cm or 20x25 cm for Book Cover

Posters and book covers should convey the theme/subject. Layout and Lettering should be used to
endorse the subject matter.

PAPER II: HEAD STUDY

Time: 4 Hours M. Marks: 30

Study of human head (life/cast) for proportions, balance and study of angles, rhythmic rendering of
structure through light and shade.
Medium: color pencil, pastels
Size: ½ Imperial
Four selected works will be submitted out of work done in the session.

SEMESTER – IVth

PAPER I: COMPOSITION/LANDSCAPE

Time: 4 Hours M Marks: 30

Landscape: Color study of outdoor landscape.


Composition: arrangement of forms, colors, tones, textures to express the subject
Medium: Oil, water, Pastel, Acrylic colors.
Size: ½ Imperial
Four selected works will be submitted out of work done in class.
PAPER II: HEAD STUDY

Time: 4 Hours M Marks: 30

Study of human head (life/cast) for proportions, balance and study of angles, rhythmic rendering of
