Being a Filipino citizen and an internet user, there are a lot of rights of being so. In fact, there are
similarities of these two when it comes to right; some are right to information, right to privacy and
freedom of speech. Right to privacy refers to the concept that one's personal information is
protected from public scrutiny and these can be applied to both internet and as normal citizen. In addition,
right to information, which also exist, to both and freedom of speech - we are capable to express our own
ideas and opinions as long as it helps.
Being a Filipino who has been an internet user ever since the age of Facebook has begun, I have been
completely aware of the distinction between my rights and responsibilities. I know to myself that I am a
responsible citizen and an internet user because I know what my rights are and that I respect the rights of
others.
A good digital citizen is someone who uses technology responsibly, displays sophisticated conduct,
and makes informed decisions. A responsible user of the internet keeps their data safe, makes sound
decisions, and is kind to others. Good digital citizenship can be demonstrated in a variety of online
contexts, from social media to email to online discussion forums, and helps to ensure that the internet
remains a safe and welcome place for all users. someone who makes good use of technology and is aware
of the risks and benefits of their online activities. Online, he needs to be respectful and act in a mature
manner while dealing with the material.Being a “good” digital citizen transcends holding personal values
it includes the pursuit of equality for all.
Yes, there is a distinction because a good citizen projects a positive self-image, whereas a good digital
citizen understands the permanence of the digital world and proactively controls digital identity.Summing
up, a global citizen sees the world as a community in which all people live and prosper together. He/she
understands that his/her actions contribute to the values of the entire planet and he/she is concerned on
how he/she participates in and contributes to the entire world. A digital citizen, on the other hand, adheres
to guidelines that govern the ethical and responsible use of technology and acts responsibly in all
relationships and interactions in the digital world.
Experience:
Explore the virtual world and experience what it is to be a digital citizen. Log in to your social
media site and make a survey as to how many of your friends are observing or not observing digital
citizenship responsibly. Share your observations with your classmates.
After keeping an eye on the people who follow me online, I've found that 10 people on my friend
lists are practicing good digital citizenship. , unfortunately, ten of the people on my buddy list aren't
practicing good digital citizenship. I say this because these ten folks are irresponsible and do not consider
before posting or commenting on the posts of others. They use social media recklessly and have a general
lack of awareness about how to use the internet securely.I've seen that the remaining ten persons practice
digital citizenship because they are self-aware.Responsible digital citizenship entails participating in the
online community safely, ethically, and with respect. They are good digital citizens because they act
properly, guard their reputations and privacy, control their tone, and maintain a healthy skepticism.
Personally and academically, I believe that all people, regardless of age or background, have a duty
to use good judgment while interacting with digital media. In order to prevent others from becoming
victims of similar problems, education is crucial. With the help of lessons in digital citizenship, students
may learn to be advocates for human rights online from an early age, ensuring that people's basic liberties,
privacy, and safety are respected.
Examine:
Your interaction with others online shows your identity. Your online social identity is your
"digital tattoo". A digital tattoo refers to the record of your actions and communications online and
its permanence, like a physical tattoo. Looking back at how you engage in activities online, what
kind of digital citizen were you? Reflect on this and draw your tattoo inside the box. Explain your
illustration.
Everyone has a digital tattoo, and if we do not decide how it will appear, someone else will. The
majority of our digital tattoo is the result of our own active decisions, such as what we choose to
broadcast on social media. Your digital tattoo reveals your story.
In my digital tattoo, I've added a number of designs, including a weighing scale, a footprint, a heart
sign, an anchor, a sun and lock symbol, a butterfly, and the word peace. The weighing scale represents my
ability to strike a healthy balance in all aspects of my life, including my use of technology and social
media; the footprints represent the trail I've blazed so that other students can follow in my footsteps and
gain the knowledge to how to use technology. The sun represents how someone is constantly watching
me, regardless of how far away they are. I will always behave responsibly in order to serve as a positive
example for others. For my privacy and protection, I will always keep my passwords private and never
disclose them with anybody. It is essential to constantly ensure my safety. Every action is represented by
the heart symbol. I shall treat people with affection and consideration because we all deserve it. The
anchor represents how I will only navigate to secure sites while using a child-friendly search engine. The
butterfly signifies that I have evolved into a responsible digital citizen as a result of our professors
instructing us how to behave oneself while using the Internet at all times.Peace is the last. If we don't
have peace and harmony, it will be impossible to make progress in technology, political power, economic
stability, and cultural growth. Also, we have to be at peace with ourselves first before we can teach others
about peace. It is not just the job of one person to keep the peace; it is everyone's job. Because of this,
digital tattoo is significant. A digital tattoo may also refer to the permanent record of someone's online
acts and conversations, similar to a real tattoo. The collection of data that exists as a consequence of
online acts and conversations and may be linked back to a person is more frequently known as a digital
footprint.
