The Engine Inlet Particle Separator system (EAPS) includes these primary components:
- The EAPS control panel
- The Number 1 main panel
- The Number 2 main panel
- The Number 1 shut-off valve
- The Number 2 shut-off valve
- The Number 1 pressure switch
- The Number 2 pressure switch
- The Number 1 cross
- The Number 2 cross
- The Number 1 bleed line
- The Number 2 bleed line
- The Number 1 two way fitting
- The Number 2 two way fitting
- The Number 1 insulated tube
- The Number 2 insulated tube
- The Number 1 insulated hose
- The Number 2 insulated hose
- The two insulation panels
- The two fairings
- The two airframe mounting interfaces.
Refer to Figure 1 .
The particle separator system protects the engine against ingestion of dust particles, sand,
snow, ice, and other particles.
1.1 EAPS control panel
The EAPS control panel is installed on the left side of the interseat console. Four fasteners
attach it to the structure.
It has two switches that have the labels that follow:
- EAPS 1 (this is a two-position toggle switch)
- EAPS 2 (this is a two-position toggle switch).

1.2 Number 1 main panel

The Number 1 main panel is located above the engine air intake of the Number 1 engine. It
consist of a group of tube assemblies arranged in parallel and fixed between two aluminium
sheets. Each tube consists of a vortex tube, vortex generator and outlet tube.

1.3 Number 2 main panel

The Number 2 main panel is located above the engine air intake of the Number 2 engine. It
consist of a group of tube assemblies arranged in parallel and fixed between two aluminium
sheets. Each tube consists of a vortex tube, vortex generator and outlet tube.

1.4 Number 1 shut-off valve

The Number 1 shut-off valve is made in stainless steel and it is located on the firewall near the
shut-off valve of the heating system. It is electrically activated by the pilot through the relevant
switch on the Interseat console. When activated it allow the pressurized engine bleed air pass
through the bleed line and supply the particle separation operation.

1.5 Number 2 shut-off valve

The Number 2 shut-off valve is made in stainless steel and it is located on the firewall near the
shut-off valve of the heating system. It is electrically activated by the pilot through the relevant
switch on the Interseat console. When activated it allow the pressurized engine bleed air pass
through the bleed line and supply the particle separation operation.

1.6 Number 1 pressure switch

The Number 1 pressure is located afterward the Number 1 main panel and positioned on the
Number 1 cross. It senses the bleed air pressure in the Number 1 bleed line and allows
monitoring of the pressure downstream of the related Number 1 shut-off valve.

1.7 Number 2 pressure switch

The Number 2 pressure is located afterward the Number 2 main panel and positioned on the
Number 2 cross. It senses the bleed air pressure in the Number 2 bleed line and allows
monitoring of the pressure downstream of the related Number 2 shut-off valve.

1.8 Number 1 cross

The Number 1 cross is made from machined aluminium alloy and located on the firewall
afterward the Number 1 main panel.
The body has three interface connections for these items:
- The Number 1 bleed line
- The Number 1 insulated hose
- The pipe of the Number 1 pressure switch.

1.9 Number 2 cross

The Number 2 cross is made from machined aluminium alloy and located on the firewall
afterward the Number 2 main panel.
The body has three interface connections for these items:
- The Number 2 bleed line
- The Number 2 insulated hose
- The pipe of the Number 2 pressure switch.

1.10 Number 1 bleed line

The number 1 bleed line consists of light alloy tubes. The line is partially installed behind the
firewall and it comes in view under the Number 1 cross. The number 1 bleed line connects the
outlet of the Number 1 shut-off valve and the inlet of the Number 1 cross.

1.11 Number 2 bleed line

The number 2 bleed line consists of light alloy tubes. The line is partially installed behind the
firewall and it comes in view under the Number 2 cross. The number 2 bleed line connects the
outlet of the Number 2 shut-off valve and the inlet of the Number 2 cross.

1.12 Number 1 two way fitting

The Number 1 two-way fitting is directly connected to the air pressure bleed port of the Number
1 engine. The spilled air from the engine compressor stage flows into the Number 1 two-way
fitting. One way of it supply pressurized air to the Number 1 insulated tube and related Number
1 shut-off valve, another ones to the insulated tube and related shut-off valve of the heating
system.

1.13 Number 2 two way fitting

AMP - 39-A-75-51-00-00A-041A-K Engine inlet particle separator system - Descrip... Printed on 31/03/2023

The Number 2 two-way fitting is directly connected to the air pressure bleed port of the Number
2 engine. The spilled air from the engine compressor stage flows into the Number 2 two-way
fitting. One way of it supply pressurized air to the Number 2 insulated tube and related Number
2 shut-off valve, another ones to the insulated tube and related shut-off valve of the heating
system.

1.14 Number 1 insulated tube

The Number 1 insulated tube connects the Number 1 two-way fitting to the Number 1 shut-off
valve.

1.15 Number 2 insulated tube

The Number 2 insulated tube connects the Number 2 two-way fitting to the Number 2 shut-off
valve.

1.16 Number 1 insulated hose

The Number 1 insulated hose connects the Number 1 cross to the Number 1 panel. It allows
the opening of the engine cowling without other removal operations during engines inspection
and maintenance activities.

1.17 Number 2 insulated hose

The Number 2 insulated hose connects the Number 2 cross to the Number 2 panel. It allows
the opening of the engine cowling without other removal operations during engines inspection
and maintenance activities.

1.18 Insulation panels

The insulation panels (one for each engine) are located on the top panel that cover the
longitudinal firewall, inside the engine air-intake plenum, in order to limit heat transfer from the
engine exhaust to the air-intake.

1.19 Fairings
The fairing is installed on each engine cowling, forward each main panel, in order to achieve an
efficient aerodynamic profile for the upper deck.

1.20 Airframe mounting interface

The airframe mounting interface (one for each engine) substitute the original engine cowling to
support the component of the particle separation system.
