3.1.2 Functional principle

In automatic mode, one or two edge sensors detect the current

position (ACTUAL position) of the material web and transmit the
respective information to the integrated controller.
The controller compares the ACTUAL recorded position against
the default SETPOINT position. The controller will send a relevant
correction signal to the actuator if a deviation is found to exist be-
tween the two values.
The actuator pivots the movable pivoting frame suspended on the
housing of the compact web guide control around a rotating point
in the material web infeed until the material web is located back
in its SETPOINT position at the outfeed.

3.1.4 Connectable components

A list of connectable components is to be found in the documen-

tation of the ekr CON 100 controller.

7.3 Connecting the cables

Cables up to 0.75 mm2

Use conductor end sleeves with collar (DIN 46228/Part 4) for con-
necting the cables.
■ The crimping must be carried out gas tight (no cross-crimping).
■ There must be no gaps between the conductor and the core
end sleeve
■ The length of the metal sleeves fitted on the core end sleeve
must be at least 8 mm.

For crimping, we recommend the crimping pliers VarioC-

rimp-4-Zange 206-204 from Wago.

Cables from 0.75 mm2 to max. 1.5 mm2

Connect the cables without core end sleeve.
■ In the case of fine and multi-core cables and fine-wired cables,
whose kink resistance is not sufficient due to the small diame-
ter, the clamp must be properly opened using a screwdriver to
overcome the contact force of the clamping springs.

► After connecting, in both cases check the correct fit of the ca-
ble.

7.4 Ensuring equipotential bonding

Electrostatic charges (ESD) must not discharge via the system. De-
vices for discharging must be installed before and after (in the
web running direction) the installed system.
In the contact areas of connections, remove the paint as this acts
as an insulator and prevents equipotential bonding.
► Install conducting connections that permit equipotential bond-
ing of low and high frequencies between the individual ma-
chine parts or cable ducts.
► Install ESD discharge devices before and after the installed sys-
tem.
► Connect all components of the system with the same earth that
is connected to the machine.
► In the case of screwed connections, use serrated washers to
ensure a conducting connection with the unpainted surface
(see figure 13).
► Remove the paint coating in the contact area.
