Aerial Spraying
Aerial Spraying
for local inhabitants. Villagers who were harmed by the pesticide spraying were allowed to intervene in
support of the City and its ordinance by the Regional Trial Court, and the villagers have subsequently
become parties to the case. Banana growers and exporters (Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters
Association (PBGEA), Davao Fruits, and Lapanday Agricultural Development) challenged the ban in court,
filing a case against the City of Davao, claiming the act was unconstitutional. A study commissioned by
the Department of Health in 2006 showed that aerial pesticide spraying was harming the health of
residents of Kamukhaan (Camocaan), Davao del Sur province, and suggested that aerial spraying be
outlawed. Pesticides were banned from being sprayed from the air in Davao City in 2007, and ground
spraying was encouraged instead. The statement said the Church officials invited all groups concerned
with the issue of aerial spraying of fungicide in banana plantations to get a clearer picture of the issue
and arrive at a consensus. In a signed pastoral statement, Archbishop Francisco R. Capalla of Davao and
Bishops Wilfredo D. Manlapaz of Tagum, Patricio H. Alo of Mati and Guillermo V. Afable of Digos, along
with Auxiliary Bishop George B. Rimando of Davao, agreed with the banana growers that there is not
sufficient data to warrant a total ban on aerial spraying of fungicide on banana plantations. To sum up
everything, Pesticides have been the subject of both praise and condemnation over the years. This may
be because they have the potential to harm animals, the environment, and humans. At the same time,
they are intended to kill, and many people are concerned about their widespread use. Pesticide use, on
the other hand, is advantageous to society. They were created, for example, with the goal of killing
hazardous organisms. They can also help with weed, bug, and pest control. As a result, they are able to
aid farmers and crop growers, contributing significantly to the economy. Despite the obvious benefits of
using pesticides, many people are suspicious of the use of specific chemicals. Biologically-based
insecticides, such as microbial pesticides and pheromones, were developed to solve this problem. As a
result, these insecticides have become more popular and are thought to be safer than standard chemical
pesticides. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has registered a variety of low-risk pesticides as
part of this process. Pesticides are chemicals that are used to kill, prevent, repel, or mitigate pests. Pests,
on the other hand, are living organisms that cause harm to livestock, crops, and people. As a result,
pesticide debates will inevitably arise. To resolve this conundrum, it may only be necessary to explain
some pesticide benefits and drawbacks in order to enlighten those who are perplexed by the present
situation. Aerial spraying may cause health complications to people, It can cause deaths, oe even food
poisoning. We should prioritize the health and safety of the Filipino people than engaging on this kind of
act that can possibly that ca pose a threat to the health of every individuals.
