THOSE WHO HOPE IN THE LORD
Isaiah 40:30-31

"Even those who are young grow weak; young people can
fall exhausted. But those who trust in the LORD for help
will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings
like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk
and not grow weak." Isaiah 40:30-31.
We thank God for the gift of this new month and we ask
Him to make it a great month filled with great signs and
wonders. Amen.
It is important that we all put our hope in God in
everything that we do. It is in doing this that we are able to
become achievers. Those who rely on their own strength
can only achieve as much as their strength enables them.
But those who depend and hope in the Lord will excel
because, God who is the source of their strength will help
them in everything they do.
In our world which is full of evil, there is nothing much we
can achieve without depending on God. This is because;
the society has been dominated by evil systems. Human
strength alone cannot make a man excel. Christians who
hope, and are strong in the Lord will excel. Those who feel
that waiting and hoping on the Lord is a waste of time end
up following the path of evil in a quest to be successful.

7
The topic of today is to make us know that, depending on
our strength to undertake any serious thing in this life is
not a good idea at all. We need God, we need to put Him
above all our plans and allow Him to take over and give us
the required strength needed to succeed in everything we
do. Those who depend on their human strength, without
God, will be limited in this life.
Apart from achievements and being successful, we need
God to grow spiritually as children of God. The Holy
Spirit is our Helper; let us rely upon Him for strength. We
cannot grow spiritually by our human strength. We need
grace and strength from God to be consistent and to pass
through the different levels of our spiritual journey and
processes.
A man who does not rely on God will always be
overwhelmed by obstacles. A man who does not hope and
depend on God may end up achieving nothing. A man who
depends on his own weak strength will achieve a weak and
poor outcome. Let us learn how to mount on the wings of
the Holy Spirit in everything we do and we shall fly
onward to success against all odds.

YOUR TIME HAS COME
Isaiah 42:14-16
Today, I decree that the time of every child of God has
come for a great intervention of the power of heaven, over
every affair and situation in their lives. There are many
things going on in our life, some of which are not pleasant.
We might have tried our best to be free of these situations,
but it seems like nothing is working or ever going to work.
We might have cried day and night in prayer but it seems
that nothing is being done by the Court of Heaven
regarding our case. Today, I announce to you that your time
of deliverance and answer has come!
Remember, the Israelites were in Egypt for four hundred
and fifty years. The Lord saw what they were going
through, He heard their cry and delivered them in a
mighty way. Even though the enemy was stubborn and
refused to let them go, he had to die for the liberation of
God's people. Are you suffering under severe attacks and
manipulation from those who have vowed that they will
never leave you alone or let you be? Today, your time of
deliverance from that strongman and woman has come. In
the same way Pharaoh and the Red Sea could not stop the
Israelites, no power under God's throne can stop your
deliverance, freedom, miracle and testimonies.

10
Let us examine the word of God in Isaiah 42:14-16: "God
says, "For a long time I kept silent; I did not answer my
people. But now the time to act has come; I cry out like a
woman in labour. I will destroy the hills and mountains and
dry up the grass and trees. I will turn the river valleys into
deserts and dry up the pools of water. "I will lead my blind
people by roads they have never travelled. I will turn their
darkness into light and make rough country smooth before
them. These are my promises, and I will keep them without
fail.
Prayers
 Thank God for His word today.
 Call upon the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. 
 Begin to pour your whole heart to God, telling Him
how you have suffered and what you want Him to do
for you. 
 Tell God that the time for Him to look with pity upon
you has come

SUFFERING AND GRIEF
Lamentations 3:33

"He takes no pleasure in causing us grief or pain."

Lamentations 3:33.
Sometimes, suffering and grief can be as a result of the
sins that we commit. In the Apparition of Our Blessed
Mother Mary at Fatima, Mary said that War is as a result
of sin. True, her words are true because if the world obeys
God, it will be at peace. The world is full of wickedness
and evil. People do all sorts of things against their brothers
and sisters in order to destroy them for no reason. There is
no regard for life in many parts of the world.
Things can never go well in a place where God is highly
offended. There are many natural disasters and occurrence
that affect so many people due to the anger of the Lord
against the evil of this world. The word of God in 1 Peter
1:16 says: " Be holy because I am holy." Do away with the
things of the world so that we will not perish along with it.
We are called to separate ourselves from the evil in our
world so that when the anger of the Lord rises up the way
like it did against Sodom, we may be spared because of
His Divine justice; the way Lot and Noah were spared.
God does not destroy the good with the wicked. It is the
benefit that they enjoy for separating themselves unto Him.
12
Not all suffering is from God or as a result of sin. Some
people suffer because of mistakes they made, while some
may suffer due to spiritual attacks and afflictions.
Irrespective of this, being with God and obeying Him will
help us to be always victorious over our enemies. We will
be free from all forms of pain and suffering as a result of
spiritual attacks. When we are in obedience to God and
doing His will, He will guide and guard us from making
terrible mistakes and decisions in life. We all need to
separate ourselves unto God through obedience and
holiness. Flee from the ways of the world that we may not
perish along with it in God's anger and Divine justice.

Prayers
 Thank God for His word today. 
 Ask God to separate you from this world by giving
you the grace to live a holy life. 
 Ask God to have mercy on the world and save those
whom have been blinded by the devil.

LET GOD USE YOU
1 Peter 2:5

"Come as living stones, and let yourselves be used in

building the spiritual temple, where you will serve as holy
priests to offer spiritual and acceptable sacrifices to God
through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:5.

Every child of God is automatically called to work in the

house of the Father and to contribute to the advancement
of His Holy Kingdom. The word of God today urges us to
let ourselves be used by God in building the spiritual
temple. This spiritual temple is the Heavenly Jerusalem,
where all nations shall perpetually participate in the
worship of the Lord. God is simply calling us to participate
in the advancement of His kingdom by evangelization in
any way we can and by participating in the activities of the
Church and God's work. It means we should get ourselves
busy with things that will touch lives and win souls in this
end of the ages.

God will not force us to do His work. If we refuse to allow

Him to use us, He will not for God does not use people
against their will. Jesus submitted and died willingly. He
was not forced to die for us on the cross. To do God's
work, we have to make up our minds and offer ourselves
as sacrifice in the fulfilment of His Holy Will. God's work
14
is not meant for special people or meant to be performed at
special times and occasions. If we live our lives according
to Christ who is our model, and yielding our will and
incline our ears daily to the Holy Spirit, we will
consciously and unconsciously do the will of the Lord.

God has a purpose why He created you, do you know what

it is? If you are yet to know, have you bothered to ask
Him? You can only work best for God in that which He
has specially made you to do. Remember! If God made
you a doctor, why did he make you one? What does He
want to do with you in the medical world? This same
question goes to all who find themselves in different
occupations. Mind you, making money is not your purpose
of existence. If making money or pursuit of career is the
purpose of our existence, then life is not worth living.

Prayers
 Offer yourself totally into the hands of the Lord and
ask Him to use you totally. 
 If you are confused about what your purpose is, ask
the Holy Spirit in prayer every morning when you
wake up and at night when you are about to sleep. 
 Do this well for 14 days. He will reveal it to you.

THE CORNERSTONE
1 Peter 2:6

"For the scripture says, "I chose a valuable stone, which I

am placing as the cornerstone in Zion; and whoever
believes in him will never be disappointed." 1 Peter 2:6.

Jesus is the cornerstone which was placed in Zion by God.

A cornerstone is something of great importance that
everything else depends on. It is also said to be a large
stone near the base of a building where two walls meet,
often giving information about the building and sometimes
put in position with a ceremony.

With the last definition of a cornerstone from the

paragraph above, we can say that Jesus is the foundation of
God's project and plan of man's salvation and redemption.
The foundation upon which redemption of man was
achieved was laid down by Christ through His death and
glorious resurrection. Christ did not only redeem us from
hell, He also redeemed us from the attacks, oppression,
intimidation and dominion of darkness and evil in the
world. There is no one who believes in Jesus for victory
over the devil who will be disappointed. Apart from
gaining victory over the devil and his assault, no one who
believes in Jesus for eternal life shall be disappointed. But
we all should bear in mind that this is only possible if we
16
behave and live our lives like those who believe in Jesus,
by avoiding sin and making sure that we try our best to
live a holy life by His grace.

Christ; our cornerstone can support anything we build

upon Him, as long as it is good. In our wicked world of
today, we should make sure that we build everything on
Christ so that it will not collapse. Build your marriage,
family, career, business etc. on Christ. If you do so, it will
keep standing even when the wind blows. Do not build
anything on sand; it will not stand the test of time. Build it
on Jesus. Remember that all things were made through
Him and by His power the universe is being held together.
Build on Christ and He will hold that which you have built
together with Him.

THE CORNERSTONE II
1 Peter 2:8

"And another scripture says, "This is the stone that will

make people stumble, the rock that will make them fall."
They stumbled because they did not believe in the word;
such was God's will for them. 1 Peter 2:8.

Jesus is the source of upliftment for those who believe in

Him. But to those who do not believe, He is the source of
downfall. When we say those who do not believe, we mean
those who have heard about Christ but choose to do evil;
they kill their brothers and sisters, practise occultism,
engage in witchcraft, divination and necromancy, steal,
slander their neighbours etc. Anyone who persist in
wickedness does not believe in Jesus and such a person will
trip and fall.

The Cornerstone melts out the opposite of what He does to

a believer to the wicked. Anyone who refuses to
acknowledge Jesus as Lord will be brought down. No one
can hide from this fate. If you are not brought down in this
life, He will definitely bring you down at the end of time
through judgment. This is because, He is the only way to
heaven and no one can enter it without Him.

18
Do not wish evil for anyone because it will come back to
destroy you. If we believe in Christ, we will behave like
Him in all things; loving our neighbours and doing good to
everyone. No one can believe in Jesus and vote for abortion
or lend a voice to it. No one can believe in Jesus and watch
his or her brother dying and refuse to help. No one can
believe in Jesus and cheat on their partner. The best way to
show that we believe in Jesus is through our actions.

Anyone who does not believe in Jesus is of the devil. When

Christ was on earth, the Pharisees refused to believe in Him
despite all that He did. People like this will stumble and
have a painful fall. Every human must be affected by the
Stone. It is either you stand on it and gain balance, or you
fall and get seriously injured. It is better to flee from evil
and believe in Christ than to be stubborn and destroy
ourselves at the end.

Prayers
 Pray for those who do not believe in Jesus.
 Ask Jesus to fight against all those who are
challenging His authority over your life.
 Ask Jesus to help you believe in Him more and more
every day.

AUTHORITY
Matthew 28:18, Luke 10:19.
"And Jesus came and said to them, all authority in heaven
and on earth has been given to me." Matthew 28:18.

"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents

and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and
nothing shall hurt you." Luke 10:19.

Authority means permission; the permission to do

something or carry out a task. When the devil fell with his
angels, his powers were still with him but he lost authority.
This is why till today, before he can attack a Christian; he
tries to make such Christian to sin against God so that
through that sin, he can use that as an excuse to strike. The
most effective way to deprive the devil of the legal right he
seeks over the children of God is to flee from sin. Without
sin, there is no entry point and permission for the devil to
operate in the lives of the children of God.

All authority in the universe has been given to Jesus

according to His word in Matthew 28:18. And in Luke
10:19, He gave us that same authority to operate against the
powers of darkness. He gave us the power to cast away
every demon and not to be afraid of them. God has given us
the right to operate against the forces of darkness and to
have dominion on this earth. To have full dominion, we
20
must avoid sin which is disobedience to God and His
commandments. If we do not avoid sin, we will be like our
first parents; Adam and Eve who lost their authority over
the earth through sin.

Authority that is not being utilized is an authority wasted.

Begin to exercise your authority today through intense
prayers. Command and speak things to work in your favour
through prayers. Rebuke and uproot every opposition of the
devil through prayer. Prayer is the tool for effective
exercise of authority.

Prayers
 Thank God for His word today. 
 Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and help you exercise
your authority in the best way possible through
prayers.

THE MIRACLE AT CANA
John 2:1-10
“And on the third day, a wedding was held in Cana of
Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now Jesus was
also invited to the wedding, with his disciples. And when
the wine was failing, the mother of Jesus said to him, they
have no wine. And Jesus said to her: What is that to me and
to you, woman? My hour has not yet arrived. His mother
said to the servants, do whatever he tells you. Now in that
place, there were six stone water jars, for the purification
ritual of the Jews, containing two or three measures each.
Jesus said to them, Fill the water jars with water. And they
filled them to the very top. And Jesus said to them, Now
draw from it, and carry it to the chief steward of the feast.
And they took it to him. Then, when the chief steward had
tasted the water made into wine, since he did not know
where it was from, for only the servants who had drawn the
water knew, the chief steward called the groom, and he said
to him: Every man offers the good wine first, and then,
when they have become inebriated, he offers what is worse.
But you have kept the good wine until now.” John 2:1-10.

We thank God for this day and we pray for His blessings
upon our lives. Amen. Today we are going to examine the
miracle performed by Jesus at the wedding at Cana. There
are so many things played that led to the performance of
that miracle which was Jesus's first public miracle. The first
22
thing that we can see is that Mary tried to speak to Jesus
about the shortage of the wine. At first, He tried to tell her
that it did not really concern them. But because she has
spoken of it, He decided to do it. Note that Jesus never told
Mary that He will do it. And irrespective of that, she was
certain that He will do something. That was what made her
to tell the servants to do whatever He tells them. And truly,
Jesus spoke to the servants and gave them a command. This
shows that no one knows the Sacred Heart more than the
Immaculate Heart. They have never been divided and will
never be.

Another thing we can see from the miracle is the obedience

of the servants. Mary knew that if they disobey, the whole
thing will be ruined. That is why she told them before hand
to be obedient and do whatever He tells them to do. This
means that for miracles to happen for anyone, a person
must be obedient to Jesus. It is upon your obedience to
Jesus that things can be done for you. The servants obeyed
Jesus even though they had no clue of why He asked them
to fill the jar with water. And moreover, they did not know
much about Jesus because He recently started public
ministry. To them He was a stranger like all other guests
but they still chose to obey Him by leaving the merriment
to fetch water. This is teaching us to obey Jesus in all
things irrespective of what it may cost us. Sometimes we
may not know or understand why Jesus is telling us to do
certain things but we should still obey Him. Also, another
23
thing we can learn is that Mary can never lead anyone away
from Jesus. If there is a problem and you make her aware
of it through prayers, she will forward them to Jesus who
will administer His power and authority over the issue.

Prayer
 Thank God for His word today.
 Ask Our Lady to intercede for you in every issue of
your life. 
 Ask for the grace to be always obedient to God in all
things.

PERVERSE THOUGHTS
Wisdom 1:3-5.
Every child of God should guard his thoughts. The Holy
Spirit does not dwell in the brain, liver, kidney or eyes of a
man but in his heart and mind. The kind of thoughts you
have can make the Holy Spirit dwell comfortably in you or
be made uncomfortable and choked. That being said, we
should guard our hearts against perverse. To be perverse
means to turn aside; hence, specifically, turned away from
the (morally) right; willfully. To have a perverse mind is to
have a mind turn away from God unto evil. A perverse
mind is a corrupt mind which is always ruminating on the
vain things of life. A perverse mind is a wicked mind. A
perverse mind culminates into perverse thoughts.

The word of God in Wisdom 1:3-5 says: "For perverse

thoughts separate from God. But his virtue, when it is
tested, corrects the foolish. For wisdom will not enter into a
malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subdued by sin. For the
holy spirit of instruction will flee from falsehood, and he
will withdraw himself from thoughts that are without
understanding, and he will not be reached when iniquity
overcomes." Be mindful of the kind of thoughts that you
have. Do not think of committing evil against your brother
in your mind. Do not fantasise about committing sexual
immorality of any form in your heart. The mind is the
engine room of a man. It is from there that the Holy Spirit
25
operates. Do not drive away the Holy Spirit by polluting
your mind with impure thoughts. Guard your thoughts; let
it be under your control through the grace and power of the
Holy Spirit.

Be mindful of the kind of things you take into your mind

because they can affect your thoughts. One of the ways the
devil attacks a child of God is to attack it with impure
thoughts and imaginations in order to defile it. Also ask the
Holy Spirit to take over your heart and control it.

"For inquiry will be made into the thoughts of the impious,

his conversation also will reach the hearing of God, to the
chastising of his iniquities." Wisdom 1:9.

Prayers
 Ask the Holy Spirit to come into your mind and
possess it so that your thoughts will be good thoughts.
 Offer and consecrate your heart to the Sacred Heart of
Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
 Ask the Holy Spirit to give you self-control over your
heart.
 Ask the Holy Spirit to remove every lust, impure and
perverse thoughts in your heart permanently.

KEEP YOURSELVES FROM COMPLAINING
Wisdom 1:11
"Therefore, keep yourselves from complaining, which
benefits nothing." Wisdom 1:11.

If we study God's relationship with the people of Israel

especially on the way out of Egypt, we will get to
understand that He is a God who is irritated by complaints.
Since our God does not like people complaining against
Him, we should desist from it. Complaining is a sign of
ingratitude. Do not complain about your life, family etc.
Rather, talk to God about it according to His word in
Philippians 4:6.

Jesus in Matthew 7:7 said that we should ask and we shall

receive. He did not say that we should complain and protest
against God. Also, Jesus said in Matthew 16:23-24: "And,
in that day, you will not petition me for anything. Amen,
amen, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in my
name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have not
requested anything in my name. Ask, and you shall receive,
so that your joy may be full." John 16:23-24.

Jesus did not say: "Complain about your situation, murmur

against God, turn your back on Him." Rather, He asked us
to talk to Him about anything bothering us, the way a child
will talk to his or her father about an issue. When we ask
27
anything from God, we should do so in the name of Jesus
because, John 14:13-14 says: "And whatever you shall ask
the Father in my name, that I will do, so that the Father
may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything of me
in my name, that I will do."

AVOID HYPOCRISY
Ephesians 6:6-7

"Do not serve only when seen, as if to please men, but act
as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
Serve with good will, as to the Lord, and not to men."
Ephesians 6:6-7.

Today, we are going to discuss about service to God.

Every child of God ought to serve the Lord in every way
possible and at the slightest opportunity. We are called to
serve in sincerity, honesty and truth. Serve to impress God
Almighty and not anyone or any group of people. Services
or any work done to impress people is not worthy of God.

Because some people serve in order to get praises from

others, they pretend to serve only when they are seen and
will never serve when nobody is watching to praise.
Anyone who desires to work for God should not be a
hypocrite. A person should work for God with a sincere
heart and the Lord who sees in secret will give you a
public reward. In every work that God has committed to
you, ensure that you strive to fulfil His will according to
the grace He has given to you. If you carry out God's work
without having it in mind to fulfil His will, that work will
not bear any fruit. The work can be deemed to be a waste
of time. When Christ came to die for us, it was a great
29
work; He wanted the will of God the Father to be done,
and hence surrendered to His will at the Garden of
Gethsemane by saying: "let your will be done and not my
will." Jesus set his heart on the will of God the Father, and
not on the crown that He will get for the salvation of souls.

Set your heart on doing the will of God properly. If you do

so, you will definitely get your reward just the way Christ
was given a great reward by the Father for laying down
His life for mankind to be saved.

Prayers
 Ask God to help you do His will in all that you do. 
 Ask God to help you work for Him unconditionally.

SECRET TO GROWTH
Luke 19:12-26

The secret to growth is: working or service. There is no

way one can grow without working. When a baby is born,
before it can grow, all the internal organs have to be
working perfectly day and night. As this process continues
over a period of time, the child will increase in weight,
height and size. If any organ of the body stops functioning
well, there will be impediment of growth in an area of the
body or the whole body. In the same way, the moment a
man stops working in the job that God called Him to do for
him, the man will stop to grow or increase in that capacity.

If God has given you a gift and you want to grow in it,
keep on using it intensely for Him. The more you use it,
the more graces are given to go deeper in the use of that
gift. The more you function, the more the new doors and
dimensions are opened. The secret to growth is not solely
in working, but also lies in consistency of the person doing
the work. If you want to grow, be consistent. If God has
given you a particular gift, be consistent in the use of such
gift. If God has given you a ministry or a task, be
consistent in that task or in the work of that ministry. In the
beginning, everything may seem small, but remember that
you are growing. Even Jesus had to wait and grow as a
person until He was thirty years old before He began His
31
work. He did not start at the age of five or seven.

The word of God in Luke 19:12-26 says: "Therefore, he

said: A certain man of nobility travelled to a faraway
region, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and
he said to them: Do business until I return. But his citizens
hated him. And so, they sent a delegation after him,
saying, we do not want this one to reign over us. And it
happened that he returned, having received the kingdom.
And he ordered the servants, to whom he had given the
money, to be called so that he would know how much each
one had earned by doing business. Now the first
approached, saying: Lord, your one pound has earned ten
pounds. And he said to him: Well done, good servant.
Since you have been faithful in a small matter, you will
hold authority over ten cities. And the second came,
saying: Lord, your one pound has earned five pounds. And
he said to him, and so, you shall be over five cities. And
another approached, saying: Lord, behold your one pound,
which I kept stored in a cloth. For I feared you, because
you are an austere man. You take up what you did not lay
down, and you reap what you did not sow. And so, why
did you not give my money to the bank, so that, upon my
return, I might have withdrawn it with interest? And he
said to the bystanders, Take the pound away from him, and
give it to him who has ten pounds. And they said to him,
Lord, he has ten pounds. So then, I say to you, that to all
32
who have, it shall be given, and he will have in abundance.
And from him who does not have, even what he has will
be taken from him.” Luke 19:12-26.

The Lord has called us to do business for Him in the world

through various ways, means and through the aid of
different gifts. Every child of God is called to do
something no matter how small or little. There are people
with a huge call and those with a little. Do not say that
your task is too little and insignificant and then bury it by
refusing to work on it. That little task is the source of your
greatness. No man is made great outside his calling. If you
bury your calling, you have buried your greatness.
Remember, God lifts people through small things even
more than those He has given greater task and mission.
This is because; we are not rewarded according to our
works but according to His mercy.
Prayers
 Ask for forgiveness for the times you have ignored or
neglected your work or calling.
 Ask God to reveal your purpose in this life to you.
 Ask for the grace to do the work God has committed
to your hands excellently.
 Ask God in His mercy to return any gift or thing that
He has taken away from you because of your refusal
to use it. 

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW
Proverbs 21:18

"The wicked bring on themselves the suffering they try to

cause good people." Proverbs 21:18.

Whatever you do consciously to anyone will definitely

come back to you. If you do anything with the aim of
destroying someone who is innocent, that which you have
done against the person will come back to you. The
wicked will definitely receive a full measure of the
wickedness they try to cause others. An example can be
seen between Haman and Mordecai in the paragraph
below:

So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther.

And on the second day, at the banquet of wine, the king
again said to Esther, what is your petition, Queen Esther?
It shall be granted you. And what is your request, up to
half the kingdom? It shall be done!

Then Queen Esther answered and said, If I have found

favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let
my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my
request. For we have been sold, my people and I, to be
destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated. Had we
been sold as male and female slaves, I would have held
34
my tongue, although the enemy could never compensate
for the king’s loss.

So, King Ahasuerus answered and said to Queen Esther,

who is he, and where is he, who would dare presume in
his heart to do such a thing?

And Esther said, the adversary and enemy is this wicked

Haman!

So, Haman was terrified before the king and queen. Then
the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and
went into the palace garden; but Haman stood before
Queen Esther, pleading for his life, for he saw that evil
was determined against him by the king. When the king
returned from the palace garden to the place of the
banquet of wine, Haman had fallen across the couch
where Esther was. Then the king said, will he also assault
the queen while I am in the house? As the word left the
king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. Now
Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, said to the king, look! The
gallows, fifty cubits high, which Haman made for
Mordecai, who spoke good on the king’s behalf, is
standing at the house of Haman. Then the king said, hang
him on it! So, they hanged Haman on the gallows that he
had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath
subsided. Because God is just, evil will always catch up
with those who perpetrate it against the innocent. They
35
may seem to be succeeding at some time with their
schemes but at the end, all evil will bounce back to them
and be their lot. The life of a person is like a farmland;
whatever you sow upon it, you will surely reap. It may not
be instantly, but later as time goes on. Since we reap
whatever we sow in the life of people, it is better we use
and make most of the opportunity to sow good so that
goodness and blessings will come back to us.

Prayers
 Thank God for His word today. 
 Ask God to reward everyone who has sown good
seeds in your life according to what they deserve. 
 Pray for those who have done evil in your life that
they may experience God’s mercy and repent. 

WHAT TO DO IN THE MIDST OF ATTACK
Esther 4 and 5

When a child of God is under attack, what is expected of

such person? The first thing is to make sure that there is no
separation of the person who is being attacked from God
through sin. This is because, if one is not in the state of
grace, the enemy’s attack can quickly subdue such person.
Holiness is the believers’ first line of defense. In the
absence of holiness, the battle has been lost already. Sin
can isolate you from God and the good that is supposed to
happen in your life. The devil knows the effectiveness of
this strategy, which is why, when he wants to attack a man
who is righteous or striving to live a holy life, he tries as
much as possible to isolate the person from God by making
the person to sin. He knows that as long as the person is
bound to God through holiness, nothing much can be done
to such person.

Living a holy life alone may not be sufficient to overcome

certain vicious attacks, schemes and manipulation of the
enemies. This is where prayer comes into the picture.
Prayer is a tool all Christians should embrace in the
moment of attacks and persecution. When you pray during
attacks, make sure that you pray in the name of Jesus.
Make sure you fight through Jesus because it is only
through Him that victory is sure. The word of God in
37
Matthew 10:34 says: "Do not think that I have come to
bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace,
but a sword." And this sword which is Christ will bring
about a separation of all people into good or evil. And
through this sword, evil and its children shall be defeated.
Since Christ is the sword, we should learn to always fight
in the midst of attack through Him. Everything about Christ
is a weapon; His Name, His Wounds, His Word, His Blood,
His Presence in the Eucharist are all powerful tools of
warfare against the enemy and his agent.

Another thing to do in the midst of attacks is to ask other

children of God to back you up in prayer. You must also
seek the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the powerful
warrior angels and the saints. You must make sure that you
always call upon Jesus and Mary in the midst of spiritual
attack/battle. Always be disposed to the Holy Spirit so that
He can protect, strengthen, inspire and direct you on what
to do and what not to do.

Prayers
 Ask for the grace to live a holy life.
 Ask the grace to pray in season and out of season. 
 If there is anything you are battling with, begin to pray
against it with the tools Jesus has made available for
you in Himself.

SHORTCUT TO DEATH
Proverbs 7

One of the most grievous sins that may affect dangerously,

the person who committed it is adultery; sleeping with a
married man or woman. This sin blazes red hot and is
referred to as a shortcut to death. Death here does not really
mean the physical death of a person. Death here means that
many things in the life of those who engage in such act will
die. The scary part of it is that the sin can be forgiven but
the consequences most time are very difficult to lift off a
person.

Let us quickly examine Proverb 7 which says: "My child,

remember what I say and never forget what I tell you to do.
Do what I say, and you will live. Be as careful to follow my
teaching as you are to protect your eyes. Keep my teaching
with you all the time; write it on your heart. Treat wisdom
as your sister, and insight as your closest friend. They will
keep you away from other men's wives, from women with
seductive words. Once I was looking out the window of my
house, and I saw many inexperienced young men, but
noticed one foolish fellow in particular. He was walking
along the street near the corner where a certain woman
lived. He was passing near her house in the evening after it
was dark. And then she met him; she was dressed like a
prostitute and was making plans. She was a bold and
39
shameless woman who always walked the streets or stood
waiting at a corner, sometimes in the streets, sometimes in
the marketplace. She threw her arms around the young
man, kissed him, looked him straight in the eye, and said, "I
made my offerings today and have the meat from the
sacrifices. So I came out looking for you. I wanted to find
you, and here you are! I've covered my bed with sheets of
colored linen from Egypt. I've perfumed it with myrrh,
aloes, and cinnamon. Come on! Let's make love all night
long. We'll be happy in each other's arms. My husband isn't
at home. He's on a long trip. He took plenty of money with
him and won't be back for two weeks." So she tempted him
with her charms, and he gave in to her smooth talk.
Suddenly he was going with her like an ox on the way to be
slaughtered, like a deer prancing into a trap where an arrow
would pierce its heart. He was like a bird going into a net---
he did not know that his life was in danger. Now then, sons,
listen to me. Pay attention to what I say. Do not let such a
woman win your heart; don't go wandering after her. She
has been the ruin of many men and caused the death of too
many to count. If you go to her house, you are on the way
to the world of the dead. It is a shortcut to death." Proverbs
7:1-27.

Flee from sexual immorality so that your life will be in

order and all may go well with you. Do not cheat on your
husband or your wife. If you do you, you are bringing
curses upon yourself. "Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant,
40
shameless woman. She sits at the door of her house or on a
seat in the highest part of town, and calls out to people
passing by, who are minding their own business: "Come in,
ignorant people!" To the foolish she says, "Stolen water is
sweeter. Stolen bread tastes better." Her victims do not
know that the people die who go to her house, that those
who have already entered are now deep in the world of the
dead." Proverbs 9:13-19.

Prayers
 Pray for husbands and wives who are not faithful to
each other.
 Ask for the spirit of self-control and discipline so that
you can be able to avoid sexual immorality by the
grace of God.

sexual immorality.

TAKE THAT STEP NOW
Ecclesiastes 11:4

"If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right,
you will never plant anything and never harvest anything."
Ecclesiastes 11:4.

Waiting for the perfect and excellent time to do something

has killed many dreams. Waiting for the perfect time when
you can actually start something is dangerous. Why not
start to build that house now, rather than waiting for a
better or perfect time. Why not get married now that you
can be able to, rather than wait for a perfect time when
there will be great amount of money to have a grand
wedding? Why not start that project now than to keep on
pushing it forward, hoping for a better time? Sometimes, in
this life, there is nothing like a better or perfect time to start
something. Just start with what you have and as time goes
on, you will see that you are making meaningful progress.
Stop waiting for a huge thing to happen or a perfect time,
start today and as you progress gradually, everything will
become perfect. Most people have ended up not achieving
anything at all just because they were waiting for a perfect
time. They regret and wish they took some steps years back
because if they actually did so, by now, they would have
advanced and have something to show.

42
There is no perfect time; you are the one to create your own
perfect time. If you are burdened in your heart to start
something and you know you have wha it takes to begin the
project, please start. If for example, you want to build a
house, you do not need to have the whole money at hand.
You can start with the amount you have. As time goes on,
you can keep doing one or two things until it is completed.
If you are waiting for the whole money to execute the
project to be available at once, then you may not be able to
build anything.

ALWAYS BE PREPARED FOR DEATH
Ecclesiastes 7:2

"It is better to go to a home where there is mourning than to

one where there is a party, because the living should always
remind themselves that death is waiting for us all."
Ecclesiastes 7:2.

We live in a world where many people live as if they are

not going to die; pursuing the vain things of life, as though
they will not leave them behind one day. However,
someone who is always conscious that one day he or she
will leave this world will live a different kind of life. We
should all not just bear in mind that death is inevitable, but
also that after death comes suffering or eternal rest. Being
conscious of this reality will make us drop so many
unnecessary things and focus on that which is important.

The devil has blinded the eyes of the world not to realize
that time is passing away. Do not think that you are too
young and that death is very far away from you. God can
call anyone back home at any time. Remember that many
saints died at a young age. Even our Master; Jesus died at
the age of thirty-three. This is to show us that we can be
taken up at any time. All are to live with the hope of getting
to heaven. Always be prepared and in the state of grace. Do
not be so concerned or attached to vain things of this earth.
44
Look at all the presidents and kings who ruled over
territories. None of them could take any of their possession
with them. Even Jesus Christ left the cloth with which His
body was wrapped, rolled and kept neatly in the tomb. This
is because, it is useless to where He is going so, and He had
to leave it behind. Do not be so attached to the things of
this world, when you depart from the world, you will not
go with a single thing of your possessions.

Prayers
 Ask God to make you detached from the things of the
world.
 Ask God to make your heart conscious of how short
life is.
 Ask God to give you the grace to see Him at the end
of your life.

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP
(BRIEF HISTORY)

The miraculous image of the Mother of God, under the title of

Perpetual Help, was venerated as early as the 15th Century on
the Isle of Crete. At that time, a pious merchant from that island
found himself obliged, by the invasion of the Turks, to abandon
his native land. Fearing that the sacred image would fall into the
hands of the impious persecutors of the Catholic religion, he
took it with him to preserve it from sacrilegious profanations.

After a dangerous voyage, during which Our Lady of Perpetual

Help preserved the ship that was carrying her holy image from
inevitable shipwreck, the devout merchant arrived in Rome,
where he died a few days later, in the home of a friend. Before
dying he delivered that precious image to his friend, begging
him to offer it for public veneration in one of the churches of
Rome. But his friend, held back by human considerations, did
not fulfill the sacred charge and kept the holy image in his
power.

The Blessed Virgin appeared to him three times, ordering him to

expose her image for veneration of the faithful in some church in
Rome, and as many times that imprudent man refused her. After
a new apparition of Our Lady, accompanied by tremendous
threats, that unfaithful trustee fell sick and died.

The widow of this unhappy man persisted in keeping the

precious picture in her home. Several admonitions where
necessary to convince her to fulfill the divine will. Our Lady
55
appeared twice to a little daughter, just a few years old, of that
lady, and commanded her to tell her mother that the Virgin of
Perpetual Help wanted her image to be publicly honoured in a
church situated on the Esquline Hill.

The church indicated by the Virgin was that of St Matthew,

which was in the care of the Augustinian fathers. This time the
order of the Mother of God was carried out. The image of our
Lady of Perpetual Help was venerated in St Matthew’s Church
for the period of 300 years.

On 23 June 1867, Pope Pius IX granted the image its Canonical

Coronation along with its present title. The Redemptorist
Congregation of priests and brothers are the religious order
currently entrusted by the Holy See to protect and propagate the
religious work of art. The feast day of the image is celebrated on
June 27.

It will also help us in our outreach to less privileged children and

rural evangelization among others.

God bless you and grant all your heart desires as you support
with whatever you have. Amen.

LISTEN TO ADVICE AND CORRECTION
Proverbs 29:1

"The man who, with a stiff neck, treats the one who
corrects him with contempt will be suddenly overwhelmed
to his own destruction, and reason shall not follow him."
Proverbs 29:1.

We live in the world where many do not want to take

correction; instead, they treat those who try to correct them
with contempt. Some people feel they are too rich or too
big to take advice from anyone. Some people feel they are
too educated to be corrected or advised by someone who
has no formal educational training. People like these are
stiff necked because of pride and arrogance, and this will
be the source of their downfall.

A wise man or woman ought to listen to the advice given

to him or her even by a child. The Lord can use anyone to
correct or speak to you. So, if you are used to looking
down on people when they speak to you, one day, you may
end up in a big mess that you could have avoided had you
listened and reasoned. When a correction or advice is
given, a person ought to withdraw to himself or herself and
ponder on what has been said. While pondering, such
person should make all necessary positive adjustments
58
needed.

Do not be too full of yourself to a point where no one can

talk to you. In some families, husbands cannot talk to their
wives, nor wives to their husbands. Some children never
listen to their parents and some parents feel there is
nothing that their children can tell them; and will not give
a listening ear to their children. This issue is not limited to
the family but it cuts across different areas of life and
society.

Prayers
 Pray for the spirit of humility
 Pray for the grace to listen to people irrespective of
their wealth, status, education background etc.
 Pray for all those who never listen to advice; ask God
to change them.

AN OPEN REBUKE IS BETTER THAN HIDDEN
LOVE.
Proverbs 27:5
It is better to rebuke someone who is doing bad or going
astray; to correct them than to keep quiet and watch them
continually live in error for fear of offending them.

You may have a close friend who is not doing good or

living a particular lifestyle, but because of your
relationship, it might be hard for you to give the kind of
necessary correction as it may be about a sensitive matter
that is really affecting the life of your friend. Do not
sacrifice the well-being or the salvation of your friend for
friendship. If you notice anything bad that they are doing,
let them know and advise them to stop. If they choose not
to understand and fight you instead, know that you have
done your part and your conscience is clear.

There are many who have kept quiet when things go

wrong because, they depend on the person whom they
ought to correct for one thing or the other. The person may
be their boss, senior staff or a relative who sponsors them
in one thing or the other. However, it is better to speak out
openly than to keep quiet. God has chosen you because of
your closeness to them, you are in the better position than
anyone else to talk to them.

60
Do not be afraid. If you are scared of the outcome of a
correction you intend to give to someone, ask the Holy
Spirit to help you and give you courage. Pray well and
commit everything into His hands so He will be the one to
speak to the person through you and make the person not
to react negatively.

who are not doing the right thing; especially those
who are around them or close to them.

THE LORD'S MERCY
Wisdom of Solomon 12:20
"For even if the enemies of your servants were deserving of
death, you afflicted them with great attentiveness,
providing a time and a place whereby they would be able to
be changed from malice." Wisdom of Solomon 12:20.

The Lord is full of mercy and compassion to everyone,

both evil and good, righteous and wicked men alike. Have
you ever wondered why you prayed against an evil diabolic
person and nothing happened? It is not because the person
has so much powers but that God has spared the person in
order to see if they will repent. If He should strike the
person the way He struck Pharaoh King of Egypt, then the
wicked person may die, without having the privilege of
repenting.

When the Lord spares an evil person, He is not leaving

them to wreak havoc; rather, He is giving them the grace,
opportunity and chance of repenting of their sins. The
beating heart of the wicked spared by God to continue
beating is a great attribute of His Divine Mercy. It is
terrible that some wicked people, whom God has spared,
think that it is their power that is saving or protecting them.
As a result, they abuse the grace of God and refuse to
repent, causing more trouble to the children of God. Their
continued wickedness and rejection of the grace of God
62
leaves no other option, but for them to be stricken so that
the evil they do and inflict on people will come to an end.

If you are living in sin and it seems that many things are
going well in your life, this is the right time to run away
from evil. Do not allow God to strike you and bring you
down before you think of stopping all the evil things that
you are doing. Do not exhaust the mercy and patience of
God. Rather cooperate with the grace you have been given
and live a good life.

God. 

Daily Consecration

O Immaculate Mother, I renew and ratify today in thy

hands, the vows of my baptism. I renounce forever
satan, his works and all that has to do with him. I give
myself entirely to Jesus Christ the incarnate wisdom, to
carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to
be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before.

In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose you

this day as my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and
consecrate to thee my body and soul, my good, both
interior and exterior and even the value of my good
actions; past, present and future and all that belongs to
me without exception, according to thy good pleasure,
for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.
Amen.

CHAPLET OF THE HOLYSPIRIT
This Chaplet was composed in 1892 by a Franciscan
Capuchin missionary of the English Province in order to give
the faithful an easy means of honouring the Holy Ghost. It
was approved by Pope Leo XIII in 1902.

How to pray the Chaplet of the Holy Ghost

The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost has 50 beads. It begins with

three small beads, followed by 5 sets of 7 beads, each
separated by 2 large beads.

 On the three large beads,

 make the Sign of the Cross

 say an Act of Contrition... and

 recites the hymn "Come, Holy Ghost"..

 On each set of 7 small beads is prayed 7 Glory be to the

Father...

 Then, on the 2 large beads is said 1 Our Father

 and 1 Hail Mary

During the praying of each set of 7 beads, the faithful is asked

to meditate on one of the 5 mysteries (below), therefore
commemorating the Five Wounds of Jesus which are the
fountains of grace which the Holy Ghost imparts to all men.
67
THE FIRST MYSTERY

By the Holy Ghost is Jesus conceived of the Blessed Virgin

Mary.

The Meditation: "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and
the Power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; and
therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be
called the Son of God." [LUKE. 1:35]

The Practice: Diligently implore the aid of the Divine Spirit,

and Mary's intercession, to imitate the virtues of Jesus Christ,
Who is the Model of virtues, so that you may be made
comformable to the image of the Son of God.

THE SECOND MYSTERY

The Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus when he was

baptized.

The Meditation: "Jesus, being baptized, forthwith came out

of the water: the heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the
Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him."
[Matthew. 3:16] The Practice: Hold in the highest esteem the
priceless gift of sanctifying grace, infused into your soul by the
Holy Spirit in Baptism. Keep the promises to which you then

on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.
You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. V.13
