Practice 2-4: Creating Project Management Roles
Overview
The projects that companies undertake typically require people to perform certain roles such as
DBA, QA Analyst, and Reporting Specialist. In Project Resource Management, you can set up
these specific roles and associate specific qualifications and keywords to each. When a project
manager or resource manager creates a resource request for these roles, the associated
qualifications and keywords are included in the resource request. In the following
demonstration, you will create a project role for the Reporting Specialist role that has BI
Intelligence Publisher and Business Intelligence Reporting skills. The keyword OBIEE should be
included on any request for a Reporting Specialist.
In this practice, you create a project role as a classification of a person’s relationship to a
project, such as a project manager, functional consultant, or a technical lead. Project Manager
and Project Team Member are two predefined project roles that you cannot edit or delete
because they have specific functions in the project. You can create additional project roles.

Assumptions
a. Sign in to Oracle Fusion Applications using PPMXX.Student.
b. Replace XX with your initials or as indicated by your instructor.

Tasks
On the Manage Project Management Roles page, create a project role with the following values:
Field Value
Name XX Reporting Specialist

this role, the keyword fills
the Type field.
Note: When you select a project role for a project resource request in Oracle Fusion Project
Management, the default qualifications, proficiencies, and keywords that are associated
with the project role will appear as default requirements in the project resource request. The
person creating the request can delete these if desired.

Practice 2-5: Creating Calendars for Projects and Resources
Overview
In this practice, you will create the elements that comprise project schedules, which are used to
define the project and resource calendars. Project calendars are used to define working and
nonworking time for project activity, whereas resource calendars are used to define these for
resources.
Note: The smallest scheduling unit is a day. For example, although you can define the number
of hours in a day, you cannot schedule work for a specific time of the day. Calendar definition is
shared across Fusion applications.
Note: The Project Execution Management applications provide a standard calendar of 8 hours
per day and 5 days per week.

Assumptions
a. Sign in to Oracle Fusion Applications using PPMXX.Student.
b. Replace XX with your initials or as indicated by your instructor.

Tasks
