RETRO

Retro music - is a term used to describe music that has been

influenced by the music of the past. This can include music that has
been influenced by a specific genre, era, or artist.
Rock and roll - dominated popular music in the mid 1950s and
late 1950s, and quickly spread to much of the rest of the world.

5 Branches of Rock and Roll during 1960s

1. Pop Rock – it is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional
songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than
rock music.
2. Beat - it is a British popular music genre that developed, particularly
in and around Liverpool, in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
3. Psychedelic Rock – it is a rock music genre that is inspired,
influenced, or representative of psychedelic culture, which is centered
on perception-altering hallucinogenic drugs.
4. Blues Rock – It is a fusion music genre that combines elements of
blues and rock music. It is mostly an electric ensemble-style music
with instrumentation similar to electric blues and rock
5. Folk Rock – it is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements
of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and
the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s.
Disco – It is a genre of dance music and a subculture that
emerged in the 1970s from the United States' urban nightlife scene.
Aside from disco, funk, soul, R&B, smooth jazz, and jazz fusion
remained popular throughout the decade.
Funk - typically consists of a complex percussive groove with
rhythm instruments playing interlocking grooves that create a
"hypnotic" and "danceable" feel.
Soul music – It has its roots in African-American gospel music
and rhythm and blues.
Rhythm and blues (R&B) – Lyrical themes often encapsulate the
African-American experience of pain and the quest for freedom and
joy, as well as triumphs and failures in terms of relationships,
economics, and aspirations.
Smooth jazz – It is a commercially oriented, crossover jazz which
came to prominence in the 1980s, displacing the more venturesome
jazz fusion from which it emerged.
Jazz fusion - when musicians combined jazz harmony and
improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues.
Electronic dance music (EDM), also known as dance music, club
music, or simply dance, it is a broad range of percussive electronic
music genres made largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals.
Dance-pop – It is generally up-tempo music intended for
nightclubs with the intention of being danceable but also suitable for
contemporary hit radio.
