I. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Ultracote 401 HS is an attractive heavy duty, thixotropic epoxy coating primarily intended to pro-
vide protection for surfaces exposed to corrosive atmospheric environments that are to receive a
lower degree of surface preparation. It is recommended for use on interior and exterior of storage
reservoirs and transmission pipelines, food processing facilities, refineries, off-shore drilling plat-
forms, marine service, sewage plants, rail cars, tank trucks, air conditioning equipment, pulp and
paper plants, breweries, mining and chemical industries.
The principal use of Ultracote 401 HS is in problem areas, which require greater film thickness for
reliable protection but are difficult to coat properly. It is also recommended for protection of floors
subjected to severe attack and physical abuse. It is used where high abrasion and impact resistance
in loading areas is required. The principal safety hazard is from excessive inhalation of the vapors.
It is flammable.
Direct eye contact may result in eye irritation. Inhalation of vapor concentrations in excess of ex-
posure limits may result in dizziness and headache. Solvents penetrate the skin readily causing irri-
tation during repeated contact. Under normal use and conditions, the products do not pose a haz-
ard.
Eye Contact : Flush with plenty of low pressure water for 15 minutes, occasional-
ly lifting eye lids. If irritation persists, consult a physician.
Skin Contact : Remove excess, cleanse with soap and water and supply a good
quality hand cream. If irritation persists, consult a physician.
Spillage: Should be soaked up with absorbent inert material (sand or earth) and col-
lected for disposal in closed containers.
Empty Containers: Empty containers may contain residue and due care must be taken to avoid
skin and eye contact.
Handling: Avoid contact and inhalation of vapors. Do not consume food or drinks while han-
dling.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep containers close when not in use. It is essential
that open containers are re-closed and re-stored under dry, cool conditions.
Respiratory Protection: Wear dust mask. If vapor and / or dust are at or above the al-
lowable exposure limit, wear an approved air purifying mask
suitable for organic vapors and / or particulate.
Protective Gloves: Use chemical resistant gloves suitable for aromatic hydrocarbons.
Conditions to avoid: Smoking, open flames, sparks and other sources of ignition; and intense heat.
The concentration of each substance should be borne in mind in assessing the toxicological effects
deriving from the preparation.
Adopt good working practices so that the product is not released into the environment.
Recover spillage as much as possible. Do not dispose with normal waste. Use specialized chemical
disposal service. Comply with local and national disposal regulations.
Use special transport service capable of transporting hazardous materials. Classified as hazardous
by airline and freight services.
The applicable regulations and industrial hygiene standards have to be considered at all times.
