JOINT AFFIDAVIT BY PARENT / GUARDIAN AND STUDENT

PART-I

We have read and understood the specified rules of VIT-AP Hostels given in the website and agree
to obey by them. We understand the highlights of the rules as follows:
1. On class days, all hostellers need to be inside the hostel by 7.30 pm. Attendance will
be taken every evening.

2. Hostellers are allowed to go out for shopping etc (‘outing’). During day time on the
days when the classes are not there (‘no-class days’) for 6 hours. Four such outings are
allowed every month. On the No-class days, the in-time will be 6 pm.

3. Hostellers are allowed to go on leave for one weekend in a month, with parents’
approval and prior permission of the hostel authorities. The stay can be either at
parents’ home or an authorised local guardian’s home. However, if the parent or
authorised local guardian arrives in person at the hostel, the hosteller can go with them
on leave any number of times in a month.

4. Hostel is meant to facilitate studies. Therefore, silence should be maintained

especially from 9 pm to 6 am. Students should not disturb others in any manner like
by conducting parties, playing music, talking loudly over mobile phones, etc.,

5. For security reasons, non-local students will not be permitted to stay as day boarders
outside the hostel, unless parent stays with them.

6. Students should stay only in the room allotted to them. Staying in other rooms is not
permitted.

7. Any physical / mental harassment towards fellow students including ragging,

quarrelling, using abusive language and violent behaviour is prohibited.

8. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Hostel premises and University campus.

9. Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) and gambling in any form including playing cards
in the hostels is prohibited.

10. Students’ found entering the University/Hostel premises under the influence of
alcohol or induce others to consume alcohol, will be suspended for one semester.
If a student is found consuming / possessing (even empty bottles) liquor inside the
University /Hostel premises, the student will be suspended for one year.

11. If narcotics or related substances are found in any room, all the students staying
in that room will be expelled from the University. Students who consume / trade/
possess narcotics inside/outside the hostel shall be expelled from the University.
Abuse of any chemicals is strictly prohibited.

12. Anyone causing damage to hostel property will be penalized suitably.

13. Hostel students should not bring any day-scholar or ex-VITian or non-VITian
inside the hostel premises.

14. Hostellers are not allowed to keep any kind of motor vehicles, both inside the hostel
as well as nearby.

15. Students in the hostel are not allowed to keep air coolers, musical instruments,
players, TV, electric iron box kettle, induction stove, immersion water heater or
any other electrical equipment/gadgets. Unauthorized possession will lead to
confiscation of the goods and penalties. Cooking in the rooms is strictly not permitted.

16. Students are personally responsible to safeguard their belongings. Students are
advised not to keep large amounts of cash (i.e. more than Rs.3000) nor valuables like
gold, costly wristwatch, expensive jewellery etc., in their rooms.

17. First year students will not be permitted for outings without supervision, during the
first three months of joining.

18. Students will not be permitted to stay in the hostels during vacation period, unless
they have academic assignments.

19. Students planning to stay back during summer semester at hostels should pay the
summer semester fees. The existing hostellers are not permitted to stay outside during
regular/summer semesters unless the respective parents come and stay along with
student outside the hostel. The parents shall approach the hostel warden in person
in this regard from time to time.

20. Students will not be permitted to stay outside during the vacation period unless
they have academics assignments/internships with the prior knowledge of the
parents.

21. Punishments measures notified in the students’ Code of Conduct published in the
university website.

 PART-II

AUTHORISATION BY THE PARENT

I, hereby authorize the University to allow my ward to go anywhere of his/her choice of place with proper
prior intimation to the authorities concerned while studying at the University. I undertake full responsibility
for all his/her actions whilst she goes out of the Hostel / University Campus any time with or without
permission of the hostel authorities. Further, I/We authorize, Mr. /Mrs.
___________________________, aged _________ years, address ______________________________

______________________________________________, as the LOCAL GUARDIAN of my

daughter/son. He/She may avail leave and go to the above-mentioned LOCAL GUARDIAN’s place as per
the approved leave regulations of VIT-AP University.

UNDERTAKING

KNOW ALL MEN that we Mr./Ms._______________________________ (Student), admitted to

in VIT-AP University, Inavolu, Amaravati (AP)
Mr./Mrs.___________________________ (parent/guardian) bind ourselves jointly and severally to the VIT-AP
University, Amaravati, AP, for the prudent behaviour of Mr. /Ms. ________________________ (Students)
during his/her studies in VIT-AP University, Amaravati, AP.

AND WHEREAS the said Mr. /Ms. ____________________ (Student) has been called upon to furnish personal
security bond to VIT-AP University, Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh indemnifying the University against all loss
and/or damage to the property, of the VIT University, that might be caused by reason of any misbehaviour
and/or malpractice of Mr./Ms.___________________________________ (Student) during the course of his/her
studies as a prudent student. AND WHEREAS the said VIT-AP University, Amaravati, AP as called upon the
said Mrs./Ms.___________________ (Student) and Mr./Mrs. ________________ Parent/Guardian to execute a
personal bond with two sureties to that effect.

The student and the parent hereby undertake to indemnify and keep the VIT-AP University indemnified from
all and every such loss and/or damage caused to the property of the University from any act of the said student
in the course of his/her studies within 15 days of notice of such damage or loss caused and the University shall
be at liberty to recover the loss along with 36 % interest per annum if such damage or loss caused is not made

good within 15 days thereof. PROVIDED ALWAYS that this bond shall cease soon after the completion of
the studies of the student Mr. /Ms_______________________ in this VIT-AP University, Amaravati, AP

PART-III

UNDERTAKING GIVEN BY THE STUDENT

Admitted to various Degree Programmes

I am aware that all admissions are subject to discipline and conduct of the candidate. I shall abide
by the rules and regulations of VIT-AP University, in force, during my stay at VIT-AP University.
I shall cease to be a student of the University if at any time I go on strike or absent myself from
the classes during the period of strike or violate any rules and regulations prescribed by the
University.
If I am found at any time, in possession or in custody of arms or rods, chains, swords, knives,
sticks etc. within the premises of the University and Hostel, I am liable to be expelled from the
University and Hostel, at the discretion of the University authorities. In addition, if I am found at
any time, in possession or in custody of drugs, alcohol or Psychotropic substances or found to
have consumed any of the above I am liable to be expelled summarily from the University and
Hostel. I shall undergo medical test/check-up/breathe tests/drugs screening/sample collection
etc., without fail, if required by the authorities, at any point of time while I am the student of this
University. I consent to give the treating doctor to collect and store blood/urine samples and to
disclose the result to VIT-AP University if necessary. I also consent to give the University to
refer and receive all health records from VIT-AP health Centre.

I am fully aware that ragging in any form is an illegal activity and I have full knowledge of the
provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the AP Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997. Ragging as
defined by the Act also includes physical or mental harm including teasing, abusing, playing
practical jokes etc. If I indulge in ragging, I am liable for IMPRISONMENT FOR TWO YEARS
with a fine up to Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand). I am also aware that I am liable to be
expelled from the University and Hostel, at the discretion of the University authorities, if I indulge
in ragging, eve teasing and other acts of violence or abet with persons indulging in such activities.

 I am fully aware that if I engage in any activity, which shall damage the image of VIT-AP
University within the campus, or outside the University, then I will be expelled from the
University and Hostel. I shall also disclose to the authorities if I am aware of any such violation
committed by any person. I shall undergo medical test / checkup without fail, if required by the
authorities, at any point of time while I am the student of this University.

I am fully aware that, while the University encourages healthy interaction between boys and girls,
it prohibits eve-teasing/sexual harassment, any indecent behavior or any physical contact
between students. Those involved in such activities will be summarily expelled from the
University.

I am fully aware that possession of cell phone / any electronic devices inside the examination hall
is strictly prohibited and if violated, I am liable to be punished as per the examination rules of the
university. I am also aware that impersonation in any form will lead to expulsion from the
University.

If I am expelled from the University for any reason, whatsoever my stay thereafter in the
University or Hostel shall be unauthorized and I am liable for disciplinary action as per the rules
of the University. I am aware that my admission to the University shall be entirely at the
discretion of the University authorities and if I am permitted to rejoin the University, I have to
pay the readmission fees prescribed by the University authorities.
