NIKOLA TESLA

INVENTOR, ELECTRICAL ENGINEER AND MECHANICAL ENGINEER

NIKOLA TESLA
Nikola Tesla was born in the village of Smiljan during the Austro-
Hungarian Empire, in present-day Croatia, on July 10, 1856. The son
of an Orthodox priest, he was trained by his father from an early
age to develop his memory and reasoning skills. His mother came
from a family of inventors.

In 1873, Tesla began studying Electrical Engineering at the

Polytechnic Institute in Graz, Austria, focusing primarily on physics
and mathematics. He graduated from the University of Prague in
1880. In 1881, he joined the Budapest Telephone Exchange, where he
began his career as an electrical engineer.
ALTERNATING CURRENT

Alternating current is one of the forms of electric current. The

development of alternating current power systems was initiated by
Nikola Tesla, who recognized the advantages of alternating current
over direct current. It can be generated more easily and efficiently
using alternating current generators, and its voltage can be easily
changed with the use of transformers. This allowed for the
establishment of large-scale power grids that provide electricity to
homes, businesses, and industries.
NIKOLA TESLA AND THOMAS EDISON
In 1882, Tesla worked at the Continental Edison Company in Paris. Two
years later, he was invited to work for Thomas Edison's (1847-1931) firm
in New York, where he moved.

Differences of opinion between Tesla and Thomas Edison regarding

direct current were the reasons behind their disagreement. Tesla had
created tools to make the use of alternating current viable, an efficient
way to transmit energy over long distances, although potentially
dangerous in case of accidents. Edison, whose technologies were
based on direct current, opposed Tesla's "lethal current." The
alternating current pioneered by Tesla is the one that now flows
through the high-voltage wires across the planet.
INVENTIONS
In total, Nikola Tesla registered approximately 40 patents in
the United States and over 700 worldwide. His inventions
focused on the utilization of electricity and magnetism,
including: fluorescent lamp, induction motor (used in
industries and various household appliances), remote control,
Tesla Coil, radio transmission, ignition system used in car
starting, alternating current, and more.
CONCLUSION
Nikola Tesla: the pioneer of electrical energy, his
contributions have had an impact on our daily
lives, making it much easier. Electric lighting, for
example, became a reality thanks to the adoption
of his innovations. His vision and inventiveness
paved the way for a modern society highly
dependent on electricity.
"I SEE TESLA NOT ONLY AS THE FATHER OF ELECTRICITY
OR GLOBAL COMMUNICATION," SAYS HISTORIAN AND
FILMMAKER MICHAEL KRAUSE TO THE BBC.

"HE HAD IDEAS THAT WERE AHEAD OF HIS TIME - HE WAS

A VISIONARY WHO MADE HIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE
EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY."
