    Aurora National High School- Malvar Extension (ANHSME) was established in 1964 to provide secondary education to students in the remote Malvar area of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. It began with one teacher and 44 students meeting temporarily in an elementary school. Over time, through the efforts of parents, community leaders, and division administrators, the school received additional teachers and constructed permanent classrooms. The school now has 11 teachers serving over 300 students, many from indigenous communities, with the goal of providing quality education and developing students' full potential.

    HISTORY OF AURORA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL- MALVAR EXTENSION

    Aurora National High School- Malvar Extension is a complete


    secondary school located at Sitio Cabeza I, Barangay Malvar – a far flung area
    within the municipality of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, traversing Bucayao
    Grande and Bagto River at approximately 5.50 kilometers away from
    Inarawan National High School and 12.0 kilometers away from Aurora
    National High School. The school was situated on 1 hectare land which was
    donated by the late Ruferta Infantado to Department of Education Culture
    and Sports (presently DepEd) last July 20, 1964.
    Prior to its establishment, the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr.
    Ma. Luisa Servando granted the petition of 44 parents to send junior high
    school teachers that will cater the need for education of the upcoming grade 7
    students from its three feeder barangays namely Malvar, Banuton and
    Caburo (MABANCA). Unity of the parents in this school is highly
    commendable for it was not affected by cultural diversity among Tagalog and
    Mangyan groups. The concerted efforts of Malvar Barangay Capt. Frankie
    Selodio, Banuton Barangay Capt. Alex Maliwanag, Caburo Barangay Capt.
    Domingo Torres, together with their Sangguniang Barangay Members and
    PTA officials paved the way to the realization of a public secondary school in
    this barangay.
    Indeed, the untiring efforts of everyone were not in vain. The dream of
    having a public secondary school in Malvar became a reality.
    ANHSME started its operation last June 2015 with only one national-
    funded teacher and 44 students. Classes were held temporarily at the
    vacant room of Mabini Elementary School- Annex. Mrs. Bedilla B. Navelgas
    who was the Aurora NHS principal at that time was tasked to monitor the
    said school. Strong typhoons unroofed the classrooms on its first year of
    operation but this never impeded the pioneer teacher to deliver quality
    education to the students.
    Dr. Cleofe Z. Padrones who was the district supervisor on that time,
    found out that the school needed additional teachers on its second year of
    operation so she requested 1 additional national- funded teacher and 2
    municipal funded teachers and it was all granted.
    Meanwhile, due to geographical location of ANHSME, Schools Division
    Office appointed Mr. Ferdinand P. Valdez as the first Teacher-In-Charge to
    lead the teachers of that school. At his time, through the support of
    barangay officials and General Parents and Teachers Association (GPTA)
    officers, together with consistent following up, the school received a project
    of four classrooms from the LGU. Moreover, in spite of lacking in budget, he
    managed to build the school stage which was made possible through
    voluntary contributions of the parents and some local government officials.
    This stage was utilized as Grade 10 temporary classroom while waiting to
    finish the on-going construction of the additional classrooms. He then led
    the whole faculty members to the school mantra he formulated, “ Itaas ang
    Kalidad ng Edukasyon sa Kalibliban”.
    Meanwhile, due to reshuffling of school heads within the division, Mrs.
    Elizabeth P. Boncato replaced Mr. Valdez as Teacher-In-Charge of this
    institution on October 18, 2021. On her first weeks of assignment, physical
    changes like surrounding beautification were impressively visible. Many
    projects for additional facilities were planned and started on her one year
    and seven months of leadership. After her reassignment to other school, Dr.
    Rowena M. Carandang took over her place as the new leader of this school
    up to the present.
    Dr. Carandang continued and finished the covered pathwalk project of
    Mrs. Boncato and solicited many ICT equipments and additional facilities
    for the school such as wifi installation, desktops and comfort room on her
    first month of leadership. The school teaching staffs, parents and learners
    are hoping that through her leadership, ANHSME will be no longer an
    extension, and it will be soon changed to “Malvar National High School”.
    ANHSME aims to develop the fullest potentials of individual students in
    building a peaceful and progressive community. It provides equitable access
    to quality education with the aim of developing the knowledge, skills,
    attitudes and values of students necessary for a productive life. From 1
    permanent teacher, it has increased to 11 teaching personnel. Teachers
    attend trainings and enrol to post graduate studies for their personal and
    professional growth. There is also remarkable increased on the population of
    students this school year 2022 -2023 which reached to its highest number
    ever of 346, from which 217 belongs to Indigenous People (IP) Community.
