1) Absalom, the handsome son of King David, became prideful because of his good looks and rebelled against his father's rule.
2) Pride can arise from many sources like power, position, wealth, knowledge, or ignorance. It disconnects one from God.
3) Absalom's pride led to his downfall and death without accomplishing his goal of becoming king, despite his gifts. The lesson is that Christians should not let gifts or blessings lead to pride but rather glory in God.

TOPIC: ABSALOM GAME
BIBLE TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 13:24-38
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 12:2 A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn. AIM: To teach and caution all Christians not to allow God's given gifts or blessings to stir up pride in them. INTRODUCTION : Game is always a competition between two people of different opinion and knowledge about the same game allowed to apply their knowledge as a skill to win the game. School inter-house sport competition is a good and close example that could be applied here. In every game played, there emerges; a winner or looser. Can you play any evil game with Satan and demons to win? the simple answer is NO! They are inventor of evil. Absalom was a very handsome young man, who was taught Royalty as a way of life according to kings doctrine. He was well known because of God's beautification upon him as a young man. Guess what? Absalom became full of himself, proud and also gathered some youths around Him who has similar mind like him to become a rivalry ruler with King David; His father while He was still on the throne. What have you, that's is not from God Almighty? Absalom severally argued and resisted His father, David's advises and suggestions for peace to Reign in the land. LESSON IN STEPS. PRAISE GOD FOR WHO YOU ARE. PSALM 24:1-3. God created all things beautiful and admirable to educate us about His incomparable love and care towards human being. There are so many beautiful and handsome people on earth than whichever level or grade we may place ourselves as individuals. Absalom allowed the temporary beauty to get into his head and allow pride to set in, and rebel against David and Judah. Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. this verse of the Bible is not applicable to women only. it is applicable to a man who also allowed His handsomeness gets into His head. Pride creation. THE SEED OF PRIDE: Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 1c4:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Satan invented pride and inspired ignorant and careless Christian to welcome this selfish attitude that don't consider others around them or reverence God supreme rulership in whatever they do or Aspire to achieve. God owns all things, and jealously demands that we acknowledge Him as the owner of all this gifts irrespective of our background. One of the fastest draining ungodly attitude, that God detested is pride. This limiting and delaying attitude is still affecting most Christian till date irrespective of what we teach, Pride disconnects the victim from Almighty God for as long as the person live with pride. It could be for a life time. God expectated us to glory in Him who created us, and not in ourselves. All the effort of Absalom to ascend the throne of His father while David lives, became a wasted effort, He died without accomplishing his dreams because of pride over his handsomeness. WHAT STIR UP PRIDE @. Power. @. Position. @. Authority. @. Wealth. @. Knowledge. @. Abject Poverty. @. Ignorance. CONCLUSION : James 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. There is no evil gifts satan offers or amount of pride, we allowed to control us against God's counsel, that can beat that of Satan the Devil; yet God stopped Him. If God Almighty stopped Satan and bring Him down, His power to bring down the proud is still as it was then. Repent now! make a decision to accept Jesus Christ, the key to humility.
