    This paper presents theoretical t-z curves that describe the relationship between shear stress (t) and displacement (z) for laterally loaded piles. The authors develop theoretical t-z curves based on elastic beam-column theory and compare them to existing t-z curves that were developed empirically. They find that the theoretical curves generally agree well with empirical curves, especially for piles with larger diameters.
