    Ans: Peter started running as fast as he could in order to avoid being seen

    Ans: Mrs Rabbit told her four children not to go to Mr McGregor’s garden as
    their father had an accident there. He was put in a pie by Mrs McGregor.

    Ans: Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail went down the lane to gather blackberries.

    3. Why did Peter not go with his siblings?


    Ans: Peter did not go with his siblings as he wanted to go to Mr McGregor’s
    garden.

    4. Why did Mr McGregor call Peter a thief? *


    Ans: Mr. McGregor called Peter a thief because he was eating vegetables from
    Mr. McGregor’s without his permission.

    5. What did Mr McGregor do when he saw Peter near the cucumber frame?
    Ans: On seeing Peter near the cucumber rake, Mr McGregor started running
    after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, ‘Stop thief!’

    6. When Peter got caught in the net, who went up to him? What did they do? *
    Ans: Some friendly sparrows went up to Peter when he got caught in the net in
    great excitement and begged him to save himself.

    7. Where did Peter hide in the tool-shed?


    Ans: Peter hid in a can in the tool shed.

    Ans: Peter asked for directions to the gate from an old mouse.

    9. How did Peter find his way to the gate? *


    Ans: Peter found his way to the gate when he climbed on the wheelbarrow to
    see what Mr McGregor was doing. He saw Mr McGregor hoeing onions. His back
    was turned towards Peter, and beyond him was the gate.

    10. Do you think Peter was wrong in not listening to his mother? Give reasons.
    Ans: Yes, Peter was wrong in not listening to his mother. He would not have
    landed in so much of trouble if he had listened to her.
