Reading
1 Read the article. Answer the questions (1–8).
NO 5 RESTAURANT
No 5 is a modern restaurant in a small English village but a lot of people are talking about it. Every night people come
from far away to have dinner there and it is difficult to find a table. Why is it so popular? The French chef, Philippe
Rochas, says it is because all the food is fresh and comes from the local area.
When you go into the restaurant, you can see a blackboard with Today’s Specials. This menu changes every day and
there is always one meat, one fish and one vegetarian dish. It is a good idea to telephone the restaurant or go online to
make sure that your favourite dish is on the menu. From Tuesday to Friday only, there is also a special lunchtime menu.
This is cheaper than the usual menu. For £7.50 you can choose from many main dishes. There is also a good choice of
French cheeses with biscuits after the main dish.

REVIEWS
Janet and Edgar Smith, Newcastle
We had a lovely meal. The food was excellent and the owner and his wife were very friendly. We liked the chicken
chasseur and the salmon salad. And it was not very expensive!
Thomas Norfolk, London
I often find that restaurants with French chefs are very expensive and the food isn’t always good. But No 5 was amazing.
My wife is a vegetarian and she had the spinach and cheese pie. It was so good that she ordered a second one! My beef
steak with fresh local vegetables was also brilliant.
