LAC Session Report

July 28, 2023
LAC is a professional development approach for teachers to continuously improve on
their content knowledge, pedagogical skills, and assessment practices. As one of the
practices in DepED, Learning Action Cell is viewed as a group of teachers who engage in
collaborative learning sessions to solve shared challenges encountered in the school. This is
in line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 10533, or the Enhanced Basic Education
Act of 2013., where DepEd fully support the continuing professional development of its
teaching personnel based on the principle of lifelong learning and DepEd’s commitment to
the development of teachers potential aimed towards their success in the profession. Thus,
the Learning Action Cell for the National Learning Camp 2022-2023 takes its course. The
training was held at one of the classrooms of STEP building in TNHS.
The session started at exactly 9:00 in the morning. It was graced by a prayer led by
Mrs. Lovely Tangpos of SENHS and officially opened by Mrs. Yolanda Sucayan of TNHS,
the assigned facilitator of the session. The discussants are the NLC Science teachers of
Tacurong City Division about what they have been experienced on the first week of the
National Learning camp. They discussed on what went well and what are the specific
problems they encountered on the said activity. These are the issues being discussed by the
different schools:
 NLC Science Teachers of SENHS
- Not complete attendance of the students
- Materials prepared by the teachers are good and interactive
- PPT should be played using the same application used during production
to avoid technical issues.
- They gave stars to the students as rewards and they can convert it in to school
supplies (this is to motivate learners to be attentive during class discussion).
- They provided campers food for recess and lunch
- 45 minutes time allocation for every session is not enough to finish every
lesson.
 NLC Science Teachers of RMNHS
- Large number of students attended the lesson.
- Ppt should be check by the teachers before conducting the class
- Some of the students were skipping classes, but it was already solved by
the school
- Some of the students were not attentive 10 am beyond because they are
tired and starving already.
- Reading comprehension is the big problem in consolidation camp, most
learners are slow readers and have low reading comprehension.
- Teacher let the students answer in vernacular or in Filipino as long as they
can express their selves and their answers.
 NLC Science Teachers of UKNHS
- snacks for students and teachers ( from PTA)
- Consistent increase numbers of campers
- Learners are Attentive and motivated
- Was not able to finish the 6 lessons due to the low comprehension of
learners
- Finish only 4 out of 6 lessons
 NLC Science Teachers of SPNHS
- Attendance is not consistent
- Was not able to finish the lesson
- Presented video lesson to help learners understand the topic
- Learners have a big problem in reading comprehension
- School provided snacks for the campers
- Teachers translate questions in filipino or vernacular
 NLC Science Teachers of TNHS
- Attendance of students are not complete
- Teachers should simplify and rephrase questions
- Students are trying their best to answer
- Snack is provided by the stakeholders
- Number of NLC learners are low because some are enrolled in sports camp
- For enhancement campers, they are all active and participative, they can easily
grasp the lesson
- Parents and teachers should have cooperation on teaching the learners
specially in consolidation camp
