I’m here today to share my research.

The focus of my report is Fast fashion shouldn’t exist as it

increases global warming.

Let me begin by giving you some background information. Fast fashion is a trend in the fashion
industry that involves the rapid production and consumption of clothing. This business model
relies on quick turnover and mass production. However, fast fashion often has negative impacts
on both the environment and workers who make the clothes.

Firstly, The production of fast fashion clothing requires a vast amount of resources, including
energy, water, and raw materials. The production process generates a significant amount of
carbon emissions, contributing to the carbon footprint of the clothing industry. According to a
report, the fashion industry produces 10% of global carbon emissions, with the
majority coming from the production of textiles and clothing. The report also notes that the
production of a single kilogram of cotton fabric can generate as much as 23 kilograms of carbon
dioxide emissions.

Secondly, Fast fashion also contributes to the problem of landfill waste. As fast fashion clothing
is designed to be cheap and trendy, it is often made from low-quality materials that do not last
long. Consumers are encouraged to buy new clothing frequently, leading to the disposal of vast
quantities of clothing. The Environmental Protection Agency reports that the United States
produces 11.3 million tons of textile waste annually, and much of which ends up in landfills. As
these materials decompose, they release methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to
global warming.

Some people might think that fast fashion has a positive impact on the economy, providing jobs
and affordable clothing to consumers. However, these benefits are outweighed by the negative
impact on the environment. While fast fashion may provide jobs, it also contributes to carbon
emissions and landfill waste, which pose a significant threat to the planet. Additionally, while fast
fashion may provide affordable clothing to consumers, it also encourages a culture of
overconsumption, where consumers are encouraged to buy more clothing than they need,
leading to a vicious cycle of production and disposal.

In conclusion, fast fashion shouldn’t exist as it increases global warming. The production of fast
fashion clothing contributes seriously to carbon emissions and landfill waste, making it a major
environmental concern. It is imperative that the fashion industry takes steps to reduce its carbon
footprint and minimize waste in order to address the growing threat of global warming.

That’s all I have for today. Thank you for listening.
