FIELD STUDY LEARNING Writing an Initial Action

EPISODE Research Plan

ANALYZE
We said at the beginning that all teachers could make an Action Research. It is easy to
do it. Let’s try doing it. Today, you shall develop a Plan for our Action Research by following the
simple cycle.

Topic you chose: (from the past episodes) Implementing to Face-to-face classes from Virtual
Learning

Episode number and Title: Learning episode 6. Enhancing a Face-to-face Learning Environment

Model A:

Activity 1: Developing an Initial Research Action Plan

A. OBSERVE/NOTICE
What problem have I noticed that affect teaching-learning?
The problem I noticed is that some of the students are not yet ready to open up
themselves and they are not fully ready to have face-to-face classes again. They are
still adjusting to it.
 The problem I noticed or observed in the classroom are a lot of students find it
hard to socialize and cooperate in the lesson discussion. And since they just
came back from online learning, they are still adjusting their new
environment.
B. Think deeply of the problem and your observation. Why is this happening? Can the
slow learners be helped? How will it be done?
I think since all the students came from different kind of environment, they find it
hard to be with others and since it still on pandemic, maybe they are afraid to have
virus. The smart students who can socialize will can function very well in the class
while the slow learners and students who are not cooperative might can’t be help.
 I also think that because students find school or subject matter boring, so they
lack on cooperation and understanding of the lesson. To deliver the lesson
effectively teacher must know how to implement her lesson and how will she
encourage them to learn and cooperate with the class.
C. Plan for Action
Key questions:

- What will I do as a teacher to solve the problem?

Since everyone is still on adjustment with the new normal, as a teacher I will
create interesting activities to encourage students to participate and I must
pay attention on how they react and perform to the class. As a teacher it is my
job to think different techniques that will help me encourage my students to
learn and cooperate.

- How will I describe my intervention, innovation, or actions to the identified

problem?
I will employ cooperative learning where my students will interact with each
other, share their thoughts and beliefs. Through that students can personally
know who their classmates are. This activity will catch their attention since
they can show who they are and can be who every they want.

- How long will it take to introduce the intervention?

This will happen 2 times a week and after that I will think other actions to
make a friendly classroom setting.

- With whom shall I work?

I will work with my student who I am encouraging to learn and be cooperative
with the class.

- What materials do I need?

I need paper and pen, white board and pen and laptop for motivational
messages or videos.

- Are methods, participants, data collection, time table considered in my Plan

for Action?
Yes.

Write your own Plan of Action Research based on the key questions.
I am planning to have a friendly and cooperative learning environment for the
students. I am building a classroom wherein they can feel freedom, peace and
excitement. I will allow them to explore new learning inside the classroom, I will make
a lot of interesting activities that will encourage them to learn, to socialize and to
cooperate with me and the whole class. I know these activities will put the classroom
messy but we will make sure that they will learn and enjoy through these all activities.

E. Act (Implementation of the Action Research Plan)

Note: The implementation of the Plan will follow when time allows. A more detailed
Research Action Plan will be required. The McNiff and Whitehead (2004) of DepEd (2016)
models may be depending on the advice of your mentor.

Action Research Proposal

Name: Pontejos, Princess Dianne G.

Proposed Title: Utilizing and Managing the usage of Technology inside of the Classroom

I. Context and Rationale

Technology makes information instantly accessible, which is why having it in the
classroom is so important. For both students and teachers, smartphones,
computers, and tablets are already an integral part of daily life. It makes sense
that efforts are being made to explore how to use technology in the classroom to
give students of all ages meaningful learning opportunities.

Different forms of technology, such as a virtual classroom, are used in the

classroom to create active learners who are interested in the learning objectives.
Technology integration also opens doors for differentiated instruction to meet
each student's specific needs as an individual learner within a larger classroom
environment.

Since a lot of students know how to use and navigate a technology, we should
maximize the usage of technology inside of the class. They should use technology
only when they needed it like, for emergency from home, researching for topic
and assignments.

II. Action Research Question

1. How ICT can affect our schools?
2. How effective is technology inside or the classroom?
3. What are the effects of technology usage in the classroom?

III. Proposed Innovation, Intervention Strategy

Technology will only used by students who are in need of using it. If the students
have to research for their assignment and if the students have an emergency call
from their family members. The usage of technology must help them to increase
their knowledge and understanding about the topic they searched.

IV. Action Research Methods

A. Participants
The target participants of this action research will be 25 randomly selected
students of Grade 11 students from San Pablo Christian School.
B. Data Gathering Methods
This study will use survey to gather data.
C. Data Analysis Plan
In this study the data will be analyzed through mean, frequency and
percentage as descriptive statistical tools.

VI. Cost Estimate

VII. Plan for dissemination and Utilization

REFLECT

What was your experience in writing the action research plan?

Although I found this activity challenging, I enjoyed doing it because it allowed me to

create an action research plan. I gain practical experience in my field and learn about planning
experiments, writing grants, and reporting findings.

What knowledge, attitude, and skills did you have that helped you accomplish it?
I am able to accomplish this with the help of my cooperating schools and students, I am
able to observe them. Due to this, I experiment with many things in my field of study and do
things that I don't think I can but can.

What do you still need to learn and develop in yourself to be a skilled teacher-researcher?

I have to improve my critical thinking skills as well as cooperation with other so I can
explore a lot of things that are helpful on my Action Research. Teachers who possess strong
critical thinking abilities are able to balance working within their institution's goals and
standards with taking into account the interests of the students. Teachers in primary and
secondary schools must also be conscious of parents' expectations for discipline and a safe and
nurturing learning environment.
