DURING BLOOD DONATION
Keep still while blood is being
drawn.
Inform Blood Bank Personnel
for any signs of or feeling of light headedness, nausea, drowsiness or cold clamy skin
DO NOT GET UP immediately
after extraction. This is to allow blood flow to normalize by lying down for 5-10 minutes. It also prevents dizziness.
When needle is taken out, you must
keep pressing the gauze pad provided for 1 minute. Keep the bandage on your arm for at least five hours. Make sure it stays dry. If you have persistent bleeding through the bandage, inform Blood bank personnel.

AFTER BLOOD DONATION
Eat sugary cookies and juice.
This will help get your glucose levels up and prevent light- headedness, fainting, and shock.
Avoid smoking couple hours after
donating blood. It leads to increased dizziness.
DO NOT consume alcohol at least
12 hours prior blood donation.
DO NOT DRIVE any machinery or
motor vehicle for at least 2 hours. Avoid any vigorous activities for at least five hours after donating blood.
Be well hydrated, drink water.
