Subject Description
This subject offers opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding of the different cultures and literatures of the world as intensified by a variety of
activities in order to discover oneself, to value other people and their various circumstances in life, to utilize literature as a means of connecting to the world, and to
foster understanding on the unchanging values in this changing world.

This enables learners to demonstrate communicative competence on the meaning and scope of ENGLISH, as it integrates the four major macro skills,
together with vocabulary and grammar, to the different literatures. This also allows them to critically examine and evaluate social and global issues transpired from
literatures through research. Most importantly, assessments and activities are designed in accord with both asynchronous and synchronous learning.

CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text types serve as ways of expressing and resolving personal
conflicts, also how to use strategies in linking textual information, repairing, enhancing communication public speaking, emphasis markers in persuasive texts,
different forms of modals, reflexive and intensive pronouns.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner composes a short but powerful persuasive text using a variety of persuasive techniques and devices.
