SUBJECT - AVIATION MAINTENANCE ACTION MESSAGE (AMAM),


MAINTENANCE MANDATORY, HYDRAULIC PUMP MODULE FILTER,
H-60-21-AMAM-05

NOTE
This message is issued per AR 750-6 to all Army Commands (ACOM),
Army National Guard (ARNG), Army Service Component Commands
(ASCC), and Direct Reporting Units (DRU). Commanders must retransmit
this message to all subordinate organizations.

NOTE
Per AR 750-6, Commanders/Directors in the grade of Major General or
civilian equivalent may authorize temporary exception from message
requirements. These exceptions may only occur during combat operations,
matters of life or death in civil disasters, or other emergencies when aircraft
operation is required.

NOTE
Commanders unable to comply with the requirements of this message
within the time frame specified will change the affected aircraft status
symbol to a Grounding //X//.

NOTE
Aircraft transferred to the U.S. government via DD Form 250 after the
message DTG are in compliance with message requirements.

NOTE
A listing of all messages and any required reports, supplements, or

1. END ITEM / MISSION DESIGN SERIES (MDS) AFFECTED - All H-60 Black Hawk
series aircraft.

2. SUMMARY -
2.1. Background – The Metal Hydraulic Fluid Filter was an initiative to reduce costs to
the units by increasing reliability and performance of the Hydraulic system components
and effectively reducing the frequency/quantity of components requisitioned. This

message removes the Fiberglass Filter from the manuals and requires all six filters be
replaced with the Metal Filter no later than (NLT) the next scheduled PMI, but not to
exceed 48 months from DTG.
2.2. Message Purpose -
2.2.1. Direct the use and installation of the Metal Filter.
2.2.2. Provide updates to the TM.

3. INITIAL TAMMS-A (THE ARMY MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM -


AVIATION) ENTRY -
NOTE
When complying with the message requirements, complete forms and
records entries per DA PAM 738-751. Units operating with Logistics
Information Systems (LIS) will use appropriate electronic system generated
"E" forms.

NOTE
To clear the following entry, complete all requirements per paragraphs 8.1
through 8.5.

3.1. When complying with the requirements of this message, make the following entry
on DA Form 2408-13-1. Enter a Horizontal Dash //-// status symbol with the following
statement: "Comply with H-60-21-AMAM-05 , Hydraulic Pump Module Filter, NLT
[####.#] aircraft hours, but not to exceed 19 May 2025."
3.2. Calculate [####.#] as the aircraft hours at the next scheduled Preventive
Maintenance Inspection (PMI). If the aircraft is currently in a PMI, the aircraft hours may
be calculated as the NEXT scheduled PMI.

4. SPECIAL PROVISIONS TO MESSAGE REQUIREMENTS -

NOTE
For message purposes, aircraft away from home station are defined as not
having access to a maintenance facility capable of meeting all message
requirements.

4.1. Aircraft in Transit (surface/air shipment/ferry status/aircraft away from home


station) - Unit commanders unable to comply with the requirement specified in
paragraph 3 may defer making the Initial TAMMS-A entry until arrival at final
destination. Adjust the suspense date in the entry to be 48 months after arrival at
destination.
4.2. Exempt Aircraft - The inspection and correction procedures in this message are not
required for the following categories of aircraft.
4.2.1. Maintenance Trainers (Cat A and B).
4.2.2. Aircraft entered into the Black Hawk Exchange Sales Transaction (BEST)
Program.
4.2.3. Activities/units with these aircraft will take the following actions to meet the
message requirements.

4.2.3.1. Enter the required Initial Aircraft TAMMS-A entry on the DA Form 2408-13-1
per paragraph 3.
4.2.3.2. Note message compliance on the applicable DA Form per paragraph 8 by
entering "H-60-21-AMAM-05 not complied with".
4.3. Compliance reporting via AMTRACKS is NOT required for Maintenance Trainers
or BEST Program Aircraft.

5. MAINTENANCE APPLICATION –

NOTE
The maintenance actions in this message are not Department of the Army
Directed Event (DADE) maintenance actions for reporting requirements.

5.1. Level of Maintenance - Field at an Aviation Maintenance Company, Field at an


Aviation Support Battalion, and Sustainment Level Maintenance.
5.2. Estimated Time Required –
5.2.1. Time to complete inspection – Total of 1.0 man hours using 2 persons.

NOTE
The time stated below does not include time for Maintenance Operational
Checks or Test Flights.

5.2.2. Time for repair/replacement - Total of 3.0 man-hours using 2 persons.

NOTE
Requests for exceptions (waivers) to this message will be submitted per
GEN-21-AMAM-01, Message Exception (Waiver) Process, and AR 750-6.
For help, contact the AMCOM Safety POC in paragraph 13.6.1.

NOTE
Metal and Fiberglass Filters may be used in a mixed configuration until all
filters are required to be replaced with the Metal Filters NLT the next
scheduled PMI, NTE 48 months fm DTG.

8.1. Gain access to the to the Pump, Hydraulic First Stage, Second Stage And
Utility.
8.2. Inspect Hydraulic Pump for the filter configuration.
8.2.1. If ALL Metal Filters (P/N M8815/32(AV) or P/N 7596335-101,
NSN: 1650-01-601-1254) ARE installed, inspection is complete, proceed to
paragraph 8.4.

NOTE
When the DA Form 2408-13-1 entry required by the following paragraph has
been made, clear the initial entry required per paragraph 3 of this message.

8.2.2. If NO Metal Filters, or a MIX of Fiberglass and Metal Filters ARE installed, make
the following entry on DA Form 2408-13-1. Enter a Dash //-// status symbol with the
following statement: ”Installation of Filter Element, Fluid, P/N M8815/32(AV) or
P/N 7596335-101, NSN: 1650-01-601-1254, is required per H-60-21-AMAM-05
by 19 May 2025.”
8.3. Utilize the appropriate -23&P work package, “Hydraulic Pump Module Filter” to
replace the old (fiberglass) filters (P/N’s listed in Paragraph 6), with the new metal filters
(P/N M8815/32(AV) or P/N 7596335-101, NSN: 1650-01-601-1254).
8.4. Clear the initial entry from paragraph 3 and note compliance on DA Form 2408-5-1
(Pump, Hydraulic First Stage, Second Stage And Utility).
8.5. Update TM 1-1520-MH-60M-23&P per instructions in paragraph 12.2.1.
