No Purl Dishcloth

The No Purl Dishcloth pattern uses slipped stitches and knitting to create an interesting texture without needing to purl. The dishcloth is made using worsted weight cotton yarn on US size 7 needles. No Purl Dishcloth

The No Purl Dishcloth is a great first project for a brand-new knitter or for those
experienced knitters who don’t enjoy the purl stitch. Even if you love to purl, you’ll
love this dishcloth. With slipped stitches and knits you get an interesting texture
on the fabric, perfect for a kitchen washcloth.

Finished Measurements Abbreviations


7” [18 cm] wide by 7” [18 cm] tall
CO: cast on sl: slip stitch
purlwise
Gauge k: knit
st(s): stitch(es)
18 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern st rep: repeat
WS: Wrong Side
RS: Right Side
wyif: with yarn in
Materials front
• 45 yards [40 m] of worsted weight
kitchen cotton yarn
• US Size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles, or
size needed to obtain gauge
• Flexible tape measure
• Tapestry needle

Notes
Yarn used for dishcloth shown: Lily Sugar ‘n
Cream Solids (100% Cotton, 120 yds [109 m] /
2.5 oz [71 g]), in the color Hot Green (1 ball)

You may find it helpful to use a locking stitch


marker to mark the Right Side of the dishcloth.

If desired, you can make this into a kitchen


towel by continuing to work until the towel is the
length you would like. Just make sure to have
enough yarn to keep going!

Instructions Finishing
CO 33 sts. Weave in ends. Use in your kitchen and enjoy!

Row 1 (RS): *Sl 1 wyif, k3; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2 (WS): Sl1 wyif, k1, *sl 1 wyif, k3; rep from *
to last 3 sts, sl 1 wyif, k2.

Rep Rows 1 & 2 until dishcloth measures 7” [18


cm], ending with Row 2.

Bind off all sts knitwise on the RS.
