Introduction
SmartCSO is powerful yet user-friendly software that used to configure and
setup a Time&Attendance machine. From SmartCSO you can communicate with your
Time&Attendance system more easily, preventing human error and have a
comprehensive report. To be exact, you can monitor all your T&A machine only from
SmartCSO.

About This Manual


SmartCSO Manual include the complete information on commands and
features in an accessible PDF-based format.

Logging In
1. Click on the Start Menu>All Programs>Open the SMART CSO
2. This window below will appear:

3. Insert the name of the SmartCSO Server by using the IP Address or Host
Name.
4. This window below will appear:

5. Click on the top left corner icon (look at the arrow), Login Sub Menu will
appear underneath. Click on the Login to go to SMART CSO Main Menu.

6. A login window will appear. Input User Name and Password. The default is:

Login Name : INTISAR


Password : PRIMULA
Login window will look like this:

Notes:
To add a new Login Name or change password will be discussed later
on the related topic.

7. Press the OK button.


8. There are two possibility that might occured:
The Password or User Name is incorrect:
a. Then this error message will appear:

Terminals Setup
Click Setup>Database>Terminals :

This window below will appear:

Following are the steps to add a terminal in to the table:

Click on the button, and then the new row will appear (A)
Type the Terminal Address in the Term Addr. box (B)
Type the Number of the Terminal in the Terminal Addr. box (C)
Type the terminal location in the Location box (D)
Type the terminal Port in the Port box (E)
Click .
Repeat the previous step until all the terminal are listed.

Following are the steps to delete a terminal from the table:


Click on the row of the terminal that you wish to delete.
Click on the button.

Click on the button to execute or click to abort.
Following are the steps to edit a terminal setting on the table:
Click on the row of the terminal, which you wish to edit.
Type the new Terminal Address in to the Term Addr. box (B).
Type the new number of the Terminal in the Terminal Address box (C).
Type the new terminal location in the Location box (D).
Type the new terminal port in the Port box (E).
Click .

Click Setup and Date& Time will appear beneath it:

Click on the Date&Time and this window will appear:

If you wish to change the previous date setting, click on the date box and fill the
colomn with the new date by directly type in it (A) or choose from the system
presets by clicking the downside arrow (B) and then click on the desired date
illustrated in this figure below:

Hint:
You can use the left ( ) and right arrow ( ) to choose the desire month and year.

If you wish to change the previous Time setting, click on the Time box and fill the
column with the new time by directly type on it (C) or click on the arrow sign;
downside arrow to decrease the value and the upside arrow to increase the value
(D).

On the other hand, you can also set up Time by click to adjusted Date &
Time with the data on your PC.

If you wish to change Daylight Saving Time setting (specially for the country that
used Daylight Saving Time, if you do not use this arrangement leave it empty), click
on the Date On to set up the starting day when the Daylight Saving Time is begin
(MM/DD, MM represents Month and DD represent Day) and fill the box with the
current data and then click on the Date Off to set up the ending day when the
Daylight Saving Time is ended (MM/DD) and also fill the empty box.
Activate the Daylight Saving Time by clicking on the check box next to

Checking Firmware Version

Contains information program such as Version Number (A) etc.


Click About, and this window below will appear:

Click to close the window.

Note:
The information in the about box will let you know miscellaneous info you might want
to know. The version number lets you know your current copy and please check if it
is the latest one. If not, please check with the vendor to get it upgraded.

Hardware Setup

1. LCD Display

This Sub menu is used to set up the display of the LCD.

Click Hardware>LCD Display:

Determines the type of date that will be displayed on the LCD Display by clicking the
downside arrow on the Date box (A) to choose one of the type of date display from
the several choices available, then click on your desired choice as illustrated on this
figure below:

Determine the arrangement of time which will be displayed on the LCD Display by
clicking on the downside arrow on the Time box (B) to choose one of the several
choices available, and then click on it as illustrated below:

Determine the direction of card that will be display on the LCD Display by clicking on
the downside arrow on the Swipe Direction box (C) to choose one of several choices
available, and then click on it as illustrated below:

Determine the display of the LCD Display on the Idle situation by clicking the
downside arrow on the Idle Display box (D) to choose one of the choices available,
and then click on it as illustrated on this figure below:

Determine the duration of ID Display or how long the ID can be displayed (in second)
on the ID Disp. Dur. box by clicking the upside arrow [ ] to increase the value or
clicking the downside arrow [ ] to decrease the value (in second) (E).

Determine the duration of Message Display or how long the message can be
displayed (in second) in the Msg Disp Dur box by clicking on the upside arrow to
increase the value and the downside arrow to decrease it (in second) (F).

Determine Power Save Duration (in second) in the Pwr Save Dur box by clicking on the
upside arrow to increase the value and the downside arrow to decrease it (in second)
(G).

Determine backlit mode by choosing one of the choices available (H).

2. Inputs

Click Hardware>Inputs:

Click Inputs and this window below will appear:

Auxiliary Ports Setup

Following are the steps to set up Auxiliary Ports:


Select the mode for Digital In W0 MOde and/or Digital In W1 Mode (A).
• None : The auxiliary port feature is disabled.
• REX button : Enables the auxiliary port as a Rex Button system.
• External Reader : Enables the auxiliary port as an external reader system
(usually used for Proximity reader).
• Door Sensor : Enables the auxiliary port as a door sensor.

Readers Setup

Following are the steps to set up Readers:


Select the mode for Readers (B)
• Alphanumeric : To set Readers to read card as alphanumeric.
• Use File No : To activated use File No.
• Zone Start : To set device’s zones as a group.
• Checkword : To insure the correctness of the reading process
for bad or damaged card. It means if a bad or
damaged card is inserted in the reading system
while this function is activated (by checking the
mark), the card will be rejected by the device.
This check word function is usually activated for a
barcode reader.

• No Double : To prevent the reading process of the same card
number twice. There is no time limitation in No
Double. The same card number can be read again
only if other card number has been read by the
device.

• Reject Delay : To give a time limitation on reading process for


the same card number. The time limitation is
measured in hours.
• Id Length : Sets the amount of digits to be read.
• Zone No : To set device’s zone number that will be used.
• Bio Blacklist : To activated Bio Blacklist.
• Bio Bypass Mode : To activated Bio Bypass Mode.
• Barcode Reverse : To activated barcode label reversed.
• External : Determine External type and ID Start.
• Internal : Determine Internal type and ID Start.

Keypad Setup

Following are the steps to set up Keypad:


Select the mode for Keypad (C)
1. Select the PIN mode.
• Disabled : PIN/Finger mode is disabled.
• Never Renew Pin: not necessary to renew PIN.
• Force Renew Pin : Renew PIN is required.
2. Checkmark (√) the RTS Signal on duress if you want the transaction log buffer
will be overwritten once it is full.

3. Checkmark (√) the Close Relays on duress if you want.

4. Checkmark (√) the Func Key box to activate the function keys on the Smart2K
terminal’s keypad.

5. Determine PIN/Finger Retry.

3. Outputs

Click Hardware>Outputs:

Click Outputs and this window below will appear:

Following are the steps to set up Relays:


There are two relays to use. Both can be activated or either one only.

1. Checkmark (√) any function(s) to activate the relay.


• IN : When a card is swiped IN
• OUT : When a card is swiped OUT
• F1 to F8 : When the function key is activated
• W0, W1 : Buttons for activating the relay.

2. Determine the duration for the relay to activate (in miliseconds).

Following are the steps to set up the printer:


This feature gives you an audit control to prevent human error.

Determine the printer port by choosing one of the three ways avalaible which are
Ethernet, Com 0 (RS-232), or Com 1(RS-232). You can tailor printing output by
editing template position.

Print Templates are:

Date and time coding

W: name of day

D: day

M: Months

C: Century

Y: Year

h: Hour

m: Minute

s: Second

Others data coding

n: id number

w: swipe message

r: record no.

c: Carriage return

l: Line Feed

note : Please put # character in front of template codes.

Following are the steps to set up the Direction Code:


This is to define a special code for the direction of OUT, IN, and Function Keys.

The length of those fields is only 1 digit and numeric type. Please make the same
value between each code with Flag field in Direction Code Map sub menu (Database
section).

Type in the code for each function.

Click the Send button to save the changes and also to apply the settings on the
Smart2K terminal.

4. Communication

Click Hardware>Communication:

Click Communication and this window below will appear:

For the Serial set up, choose the serial which been used on your Smart2K/Web. Each
of the serial contains different set up.
Following are the steps to set up the Ethernet Port:
Input IP Address
Input Net Mask
Input Gateway
Input Peer 1
Input Peer 2

Input the port number by clicking on the upside and downside arrow ( ).
If you had an Exclusive Peer then click on the check box next to Excl Peer

If you have Enet Mode then click on the check box next to Enet Mode

Following are the steps to set up the Communication Type:
Choose on the type of the communication, there are several choices available:

Input Online Host IP Address


Input Online Host Port

To send all the Communication Type set up to the machine click .

5. Door & Trans Buffer

Click Hardware>Door & Trans Buffer:

Click Door & Trans Buffer and this window below will appear:

Following are the steps to set up the Door Setting:


Anti Pass back

This feature will make the user cannot go IN before go OUT and otherwise.
Terminal will remember the last IN or last OUT status of the user. Each time
the user slides his/her card then it will check up the last status and compare
with the newest status.
There are several choices available:

Inactive : Anti pass back disable

Hard : Anti pass back for access control mode, on this


mode Relay and Door sensor are required

Soft : Almost the same with Hard but only give warning
on the display if violation occurred on the anti pass
back mode (IN 2x or OUT 2x) also required Relay
and Door Sensor.

Direction Check : Anti pass back for time attendance mode, does not
required Relay and Door sensor.

Input Max. Open time (in second).

Input Early Unlock which is the time when the feature is activated, the terminal will
check (in the range of time before Unlock has been activated), whether there is a
user slide his/her card/present, if otherwise then never Unlock (in second).

1. Direct Command

Click Tools>Direct Command:

2. Hardware Control

Click Tools >Hardware Control:

Following are the steps to set up hardware control:

Set up Buzzer (A)


To set up the buzzer click on the checkbox and defined buzzer duration in
milliseconds.
Set up LCD (B)
To set up the message that will be displayed on LCD, click on the LCD checkbox and
defined LCD duration.
Type the message that will be displayed on the Line 1 of the LCD.
Type the message that will be displayed on the Line 2 of the LCD.
Set Up Internal Relays (C)
To set the Internal Relays duration in second, click on the downside arrow to
decrease the value and click on the upside arrow to increase the value ( ).
Determine the Relay that will be used by clicking the checkbox next to desired relay.
Set Up External Relays (IMRO), duration in sec (D)
To set up the duration of External Relays (IMRO) in second , click on the downside
arrow to decrease the value and click on the upside arrow to increase the value ( ).

Notes:
• 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 are the number of relay that being used.
• I,II,III,IV are the number of IMRO that being used.

TABLES

1. Holiday Table

Click Setup>Tables>Holiday Table:

This window below will appear:

Following are the steps to add holiday in to the table:

Click on the sign.


Input the date of the holiday in to Date box (mmdd with mm represents
month and dd represents day), by simply type the number of the month first
(mm) followed by the day (dd) (A)
Type in the description of that holiday in to Description box (B)
Repeat those steps until all of the holidays are listed.
To send all holiday to the machine, click first and then click , if you
wish to send only for one or several of the holiday, click on the check box (√)
next to the desired holiday (C) and then click on the Send button .

Following are the steps to delete the holiday from the table:
To erase all the holiday from the table, click first and then click . If you
wish to erase one or several of the holiday checkmark (√) on the check box
next to the desired holiday and then click .

Following are the steps to edit holiday in the table:


Click on the row of the holiday that you wish to edit.
Input the new date of the holiday in the Date box (mmdd).
Type in the new description of the holiday in to the Description box.
Checkmark (√) on the check box next to the edited holiday and then click
to send all the changes to the machine.

2. Message Table

Click Tables>Message Table:

Click on the Message Table and this window below will appear:

Following are the steps to create Message on the Message Table:

Click on the Message box (%NAME%for Username) and type in the message
that you wish to display when the user slides his/her card (A)
To send message to all user, click first and then click . If you wish to
send the message only to particular user, then checkmark (√) check box next
to the card number of the desired user (B) and then click .

3. Alarm Table

Click Tables>Alarm Table:

Following are the steps to add the alarm setting in to the table:

Click on the button.


Input the code in to Code box (A).
Type in the Time of the alarm in to the Time box (B).
Determine the Relays, which will be used on the machine by checkmark (√) on
the check box next to the relay-desired number (C).
Type in the Duration (in second) (D).
Checkmark (√) on the name of the day, which the alarm will be activated by
clicking on the check box next to the name of the day (E).
Repeat the previous steps until all the alarm setting are listed.

To send all the alarm setting to the machine, click first and then click .
If you wish to send particular alarm setting only then checkmark (√) on the
check box next to (F) and then click .

Following are the steps to delete the alarm setting from the table:

To delete all the alarm setting from the table, click first and then click ,
if you wish to delete only particular alarm setting then checkmark (√) on the
check box next to the picture and then click .

4. Timed Message

Click Tables>Timed Message:

Input the Code in to the Code box (A)
Input the Start Time to set up the starting time of the timed message will
appear on the display in to the Start Time box (B)
Input the End Time to set up the ending time of the timed message will

Type in the desired text on the Text box (D)
Determine the name of the day which the Timed Message will applied by
checkmark (√) on the check box next to the name of the day (E)
Repeat the previous steps until all the alarm setting are listed.

Type in the new desired text on the Text box (D)
Determine the new name of the day which the Timed Message will applied by

Determine the Relays that will be used on the machine by checkmark (√) the
check box next to the desired number of relay (B)

will appear on the display in to the Start Time box (C)
Input the End Time to set up the ending time of the Auto Lock setting which
will appear on the display in to the End Time box (D)
Determine the name of the day which the Auto Lock setting will applied by
checkmark (√) on the check box next to the name of the day (E)
Repeat the previous steps until all the Auto Lock setting are listed.

Click on the particular row of Auto Lock, which you wish to edit.
Input the new Code into the Code box (A)
Determine the new Relays that will be used on the machine by checkmark (√)

Input the new Start Time to set up the starting time of the Auto Lock setting
which will appear on the display in to the Start Time box(C)
Input the new End Time to set up the ending time of the Auto Lock setting
which will appear on the display in to the End Time box (D)
Determine the new name of the day which the Auto Lock setting will applied
by checkmark (√) on the check box next to the name of the day (E)
Checkmark (√) on the check box next to the figure on the edited Auto Lock
setting and then click .

2. Time Table

Click Access Control>Time Table as shown below:

Input the Code in to the Code box (A)
Type in the description of the box in to the Description box (B)
Input the Start Time to set up the starting time of the Time Table setting
which will appear on the display in to the Start Time box(C)
Input the End Time to set up the ending time of the Time Table setting which
will appear on the display in to the End Time box (D)
Determine the name of the day which the Time Table setting will applied by
checkmark (√) on the check box next to the name of the day (E)
Repeat the previous steps until all the alarm setting are listed.
To send all the Time Table setting into the machine, click first and then

click , if you wish to send only particular Time Table setting then

on the button, if you wish to delete only particular Time Table setting then

Click on the particular row of Time Table, which you wish to edit.
Input the new Code into the Code box (A).
Type in the description of the box in to the Description box (B).
Input the new Start Time to set up the starting time of the Time Table setting
which will appear on the display in to the Start Time box(C).
Input the new End Time to set up the ending time of the Time Table setting
which will appear on the display in to the End Time box (D).
Determine the new name of the day, which the Time Table setting wills applied
by checkmark (√) on the check box next to the name of the day (E).

3. User Access

Click Access Control>User Access as shown below:

Click User Access and this window below will appear:

Following are the steps to add User Access in to the table:

Click on the button then the new row of User Access will appear.
Input the name of the employee in the Name box (A).

Note:
If you wish to instantly go to the specific User then you can type the card number
of the employee in the Jump to Card No. box (G).

Type the card number of the employee in to Card No. box (B).
Type the ID number of the employee in to ID No. box (C).
Type the PIN number of the employee in to PIN box (D).
Determine the group of the emloyee by clicking one of the choices available in
the Group box (E).
Determine the Internal Relays for the user, if any, by clicking one of the
choices available in the Internal Relays box (F).

Determine whether the user is a special enroll or not. If the user is a special
enroll then checkmark on the checkbox next to Special Enroll (S.E) (H).
Determine the Administration Level by clicking one of the four choices
available on the Admin. Level box (I).
Determine the Security Level by clicking one of the five choices available on
the Security Level box (J).
Determine Eksternal Relays (I.M.R.O) for the user by clicking the checkbox next to
the desired eksternal relays (K).
Example:

Repeat the previous steps until all the User Access are listed.
To send all the User Access setting into the machine, click on the button

first and then click , if you wish to send only particular User Access setting
then checkmark (√) the check box next to the picture (F) and then click
.

Following are the steps to delete User Access setting from the table:
To delete all the User Access setting from the table, click on the button
first and then click on the button, if you wish to delete only particular User

Following are the steps to edit User Access setting on the table:
Click on the particular row of User Access, which you wish to edit.
Input the new name of the employee in the Name box (A).
Type the new card number of the employee in to Card No. Box (B).
Type the new ID number of the employee in to ID No. box (C).
Determine the group of the emloyee by clicking one of the choices available in
the Group box.
Type the PIN number of the employee in to PIN box (D).
Determine the new Administration Level by clicking one of the four choices
available on the Admin. Level box (D).
Determine the new Security Level by clicking one of the five choices available
on the Security Level box (E).
Checkmark (√) on the check box next to on the edited User Access setting
and then click .

4. BlackList

Click Access Control>Black List as shown below:

Click User Access and this window below will appear:

Following are the steps to change the status of NOT Blacklisted Users in to
Blacklisted Users:
Click on the row of the employee data inside the NOT Blacklisted Users box
which the status will change (A).
Click , and then automatically that employee status will change from NOT
Blacklisted Users in to the Blacklisted Users follow by the employee data
transfers from the NOT Blacklisted Users box to the Blacklisted Users box.
Click to send all the changes to the machine.

Following are the steps to change the status of Blacklisted Users in to NOT
Blacklisted Users:
Click on the row of the employee data in the Blacklisted Users box, which the
status will change (B).
Click , and then automatically that employee status will change from

This Sub menu is used to set up the directions of the card.

This sub menu is used to determine operator and it access to the software. It can
add, edit or even delete Operators.

Report

There are two type of report available on the Report sub menu, they are Reports
and Data Files.
This report can be applied if the customer number of Report are suitable.

Following are the steps to create each type of report:

Click Report.
This window below will appear:

On the Report Type box, choose one of the two types of report available by clicking
the downside arrow and then click on the desired type of report (A).

On the ACTIVITY GROUPED BY DATES box choose one of the two groups available
(B).

If you wish the printed data have the date and time in the descending order then you
must activated the Descending Order of Date & Time by checkmark (√) on the
checkbox next to Descending Order of Date & Time (C).

If you wish to activated filtering function, then checkmark (√) the checkbox next to
Filtering Options (D).

There are five key filters; you can choose one of them, several of them or even the
entire key filter.

Choose the appropriate key word according to the type of report that you wish to
see. This steps are following the process according to the support.

Example:
If the report that you wish to view based on the date fill the From and To box
on the Key Date by clicking the the downside arrow and then click on the
desired date as illustrated on this figure below:

Determine the format template on the Format Template box (E).


After the entire previous step are finished, and then click on the Print Preview button
to see the result on the screen.
