STANI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY,
PHAGI - JAIPUR LECTURE PLAN FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024
BRANCH: Computer Science Engineering YEAR/ SEMESTER: III-year V Semester
SUBJECT: Computer Graphics & Multimedia TEACH METHODOLOGY: Lecture/ O.H.P/ LCD/ Case Study/ Role Play / Any Other TOPIC: Introduction – Objective, scope and outcome of the course (Unit -1) LT NO.: 1 FACULTY NAME: Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Prof. Department of CSE 1. INTRODUCTION: Graphics are defined as any sketch or a drawing or a special network that pictorially represents some meaningful information. Computer Graphics is used where a set of images needs to be manipulated or the creation of the image in the form of pixels and is drawn on the computer. Computer Graphics can be used in digital photography, film, entertainment, electronic gadgets, and all other core technologies which are required. It is a vast subject and area in the field of computer science. Computer Graphics can be used in UI design, rendering, geometric objects, animation, and many more. In most areas, computer graphics is an abbreviation of CG. There are several tools used for the implementation of Computer Graphics. The basic is the <graphics.h> header file in Turbo-C, Unity for advanced and even OpenGL can be used for its Implementation. It was invented in 1960 by great researchers Verne Hudson and William Fetter from Boeing. 2. Objective: a) Understand the basics of computer graphics, different graphics systems and applications of computer graphics. b) Discuss various algorithms for scan conversion and filling of basic objects and their comparative analysis. c) Use of geometric transformations on graphics objects and their application in composite form. d) Extract scene with different clipping methods and its transformation to graphics display device. e) Explore projections and visible surface detection techniques for display of 3D scene on 2D screen. f) Render projected objects to naturalize the scene in 2D view and use of illumination models for this. 3. Scope: The scope of computer graphics as well as designing are increasing day by day because without both of them no business can run smoothly, efficiently and effectively. Every business use digital illustration, colors, images and photo editing software to create designs. As we all know that designing are very essential in all purposes like advertising, packaging, logos, hoardings, flex, publishing houses, production houses, brochures, pamphlets, and in many more sectors. Everybody wants latest and unique designs for their business, and to make those designs we need computer graphics. 4. Outcome of the course: Student of the branch acquire deeper knowledge in the computer graphics and multimedia. Study in this branch provide further extension of knowledge of image synthesis in computer graphics, speech processing and recognition, sound and video sequences algorithms for multimedia, and development of systems for human-computer interaction. 6.
