I. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

TITLE: SUDOKU CHALLENGE

II. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The Mathematics department hold a Sudoku Challenge last January 11-12, 2016 as a part
of the activities for the culminating activity every school year. This project aims to promote the
skills of the students and discover whom students can excel in the field of Sudoku puzzle. This
puzzle enhances critical thinking skills and logic among students that help them stimulate quick
thinking.

III. SCHEME OF IMPLEMENTATION

a. STRATEGIES AND PREPARATION

Each section from grade 7-10 is asked to have exactly 2 participants to compete. The
competition is divided into two brackets (bracket A and B). Under bracket A were students
coming from grade 7 and 8 while bracket B was composed of students from grade 9 and 10.

b. IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURE

First day of the competition was dated (January 11, 2016 ) for bracket A. Second day
(January 12, 2016) for bracket B. The said competition commenced at exactly 2:00 pm. There is
only one puzzle (for category A the puzzle contains 35 given numbers and for category B
contains 32 given numbers) to be solved that is good for 30 minutes.

c. MONITORING AND EVALUATION/PICTORIALS AND ATTENDANCE

There will be 1 winner per grade level. These four students will compete for the
championship per bracket. Their puzzle will be checked accordingly. Every mistake will be a 10
point deduction. In case of a tie, the student with a faster time will be the winner.

IV. RECOMMENDATION

Sudoku Challenge is a form of recreation and at the same time an exercise to stimulate
better thinking skills. Our recommendation to improve this competition is to add effort in
encouraging students to participate.
