    Title of the project:

    Hydrogen from water electrolysis.

    Introduction:

    In this project I will design way to make a sustainable future energy


    from water. Electrolysis is a promising option for carbon-free
    hydrogen production from renewable and nuclear
    resources. Electrolysis is the process of using electricity to split
    water into hydrogen and oxygen. This reaction takes place in a unit
    called an electrolyzer.

    Initialization theory:
    First, we need to familiar electrolyser. Electrolyser (electrolysis cell)
    consists of two electrodes called cathode and anode. A cathode is a
    negatively charged electrode, while the anode is positively charged.
    Both cathodes are separated by a membrane called electrolyte and
    surrounded by water.

    Materials: -
    The electrolyzer contains:

    1) Cathode (negative charge)

    2) Anode (positive charge)


    The entire system also contains:

    1) Vents
    2) Storage tanks
    3) Power supply
    4) Separator etc.

    Method of the project:

    1) Gather the necessary materials. Separating hydrogen


    and oxygen is done through the simple process of
    electrolysis. To do this experiment, we will need a 9-volt
    battery, a battery clip with alligator clamps attached to the
    end of each wire, 2 number 2 pencils, a small glass, water, a
    small piece of cardboard, and baking soda or salt.
    2) Remove the eraser and sharpen both ends of each pencil
    Sharpen the ends so that the graphite is well-exposed on both ends of each
    pencil.
    3) Dissolve salt or baking soda in water. By adding salt or
    baking soda to the water, and increase the conduction of
    electricity through the water. Add a cup of warm water to
    glass and a tablespoon of salt or baking soda.

    4) Push the pencils through the cardboard. Make 2 holes in


    the cardboard about 1⁄2 inch (13 mm) apart by pushing the
    pencils through. Position them so that the cardboard is
    about halfway down the pencils. If the pencils are not
    secure, tape them to the cardboard.

    5) Attach one alligator clamp to the top end of each


    pencil. At this point, we should have the two pencils
    sticking out of the glass with the bottoms submerged in the
    water. Attach one alligator clamp from the battery clip to
    the graphite portion of each pencil.

    5) Attach the battery clip to the 9-volt battery. After you


    have everything set up and ready to go, you can connect
    the electricity. Attaching the clip will cause a current to
    run through your system. Once the battery is attached, we
    will see bubbles forming at the ends of the pencils
    submerged in the water.

    Socio economic importance:


    The use of hydrogen greatly reduces pollution. When hydrogen is combined
    with oxygen in a fuel cell, energy in the form of electricity is produced. This
    electricity can be used to power vehicles, as a heat source and for many other
    uses. The hydrogen and fuel cell supply chain had a significant bearing
    on the region's economy, contributing over $1.4 billion in revenue and
    investment; more than 6,620 direct, indirect, and induced jobs; and
    labor income of approximately $615 million.
    Time for making the project: 90 minutes
    Conclusion: The demand for energy is growing and the raw materials for
    the fossil fuel economy are diminishing. Oil, coal, and natural gas supplies are
    not replenished as it is consumed, so an alternative must be found. Hydrogen
    can work as alternative power source. It will also help our economy grow and
    create job sector.
