Chapter 1: Overview
1.1 Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the IXrouter2. The IXrouter is the standard and best supported hardware
for the IXON IXplatform. The IXrouter makes it very convenient to remotely connect to your
equipment. The built-in firewall keeps your equipment safe from outside threats.
The configuration can be easily done by inserting a USB memory stick, which contains your
configuration file, into the IXrouter's USB port. Generate the configuration from the Tools menu in
your IXplatform account.

Install and remove from DIN rail
The IXrouter can be easily installed on a standard DIN rail. Hang the device on the rail and push the
unit down until you feel a click. To remove the unit, pull/rotate the device up and off the rail.
Remove power
The SIM card may only be removed or inserted if the IXrouter is de-energized.
To insert, push the SIM card into the slot until you feel a click, this is approximately 1mm inside the
device. Release the card and the card will stay in the device. The end of the SIM card should be
aligned with the outside of the enclosure.
To remove, push the SIM card firmly into the slot until you hear a click. Releasing will then cause the
SIM card to partially eject, allowing you to easily take out the card.

3.3 Wiring
Proper grounding and wiring of all electrical equipment is important to help ensure the optimum
operation of the IXrouter and to provide additional electrical noise protection for your application.
Power Supply
The IXrouter is supplied with 12 or 24 VDC from an external power source. Be sure you use a safety
Low Power Supply (LPS) in accordance with clause 2.5 of UL/IEC 60950-1 Ed2. Standard: certified for
60°C and for altitudes up to 2000m. The safety LPS power supply is not part of the delivery.
The IXrouter comes with a female 4-pin plug-in connector with screw connection (type: Weidmuller
BL 5.08/04/180 SN BK BX). The optimal wire diameter is 1.5mm² (22AWG - 12AWG).
Digital input
The function of the digital input is configurable via the IXplatform. Instructions can be found here.
The V- from the power supply is used as common ground
Type Optocoupler
DI voltage range 0-29 VDC
DI OFF state voltage range 0-3 VDC
DI ON state voltage range 7-29 VDC
DI ON state current range 2-5 mA (typically)

Shield
Connect the Shield pin of the IXrouter with the protective earth conductor (PE), min. core diameter
Cu 1.5 mm².
Antenna
The antenna connector is a standard SMA screw connector. Contact your sales agent for optional
external antennas.
The product complies with the R&TTE directive, the FCC, the IC and Japan regulations related
to the GSM modems.
Absolute maximum antenna gain as per FCC's rules and regulations, 47 CFR:
o Part 22H : 5.22dBi;
o Part 27 : 3.31dBi;
o Part 24E : 6.45dBi.
Modifications cannot be made by the user if it influences the normal behavior of the device.
The user shall be informed about modem identification numbers according to their national

Chapter 4: Operation
4.1 Configuration
The configuration can be easily done by inserting a USB memory stick, which contains your
configuration file, into the IXrouter's USB port. Generate the configuration from the Tools menu in
your IXplatform account.
Signal led
10
Status led (ACT)
Long pulses are always prefaced with one short pulse so you know they are long.
Notes:
1. The network range on the LAN side is in conflict with the settings on the WAN side. The router
cannot reliably access the internet because of this. Changing the LAN side IP address generally
resolves the conflict.
2. If you want to access the device again, you will have to reconfigure it via a USB stick.
3. Each device can only be registered to a company once. If you see this status, it means you
registered the router to your company before. You have to delete the device via the IXplatform
before you can register it again.
Warning
This action cannot be undone. You'll have to re-register your device on the IXplatform.
11
Chapter 5: Compliance
The IXrouter complies with the CE, R&TTE directives and the FCC regulations related to the wireless
modems. The IXrouter belongs to class A Information Technology Equipment (ITE). In a domestic
environment this product may cause radio interference in which case the user may be required to
take appropriate measures.
Safety Standards
The IXrouter is in conformity with the following safety standards:
IEC/EN 60950-1
UL 60950-1
CSA-C22.2 No 60950-1-07
FCC Compliance
The IXrouter complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operating is subject to the following two
conditions:
This device may not cause harmful interference, and
This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
European Directives
The IXrouter is in conformity with the following EC directives:
RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU
EMC Directive 2004/108/EC
R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC (for versions including RF modems). The product conforms to the
corresponding R&TTE articles: RF spectrum efficiency (Art 3.2); EMC (Art. 3.1b); Safety (Art.
3.1a)
REACH Directive 2006/121/EC
To comply with R&TTE directive:
o Antenna must be mounted on a grounded plate
o RFI suppressors must be mounted on the power supply cable 3cm from IXrouter's
power supply connector.
