(a) Remembrance Day in Australia has been observed every year on November 11 2
since 1997. This year (2020), Remembrance day is on a Wednesday. In
which calendar year will the next Remembrance day be on a Wednesday.

The diagram above shows a shape known as the Reuleaux triangle. 3


It is formed by 3 arcs of equal size with their centres at the opposite
corner. Calculate its area, correct to the nearest square centimetre.
(c) When separate, the three circular mats shown below have a combined 3
area of 200 m2. By overlapping the mats to cover an area of 140 m2, the
area which is covered by exactly two layers of mats is 24 m2. What area
of the floor is covered by three layers of mats?

(d)

In the diagram above, triangles ABC and CDE are equilateral with side 3
lengths 4 cm. If AD = 6 cm, then show ÐBCE is obtuse. Give clear
reasons for each step.
