DESIGN CONCEPT

OUR GROUP HAS CONCEPTUALIZED TO DESIGN A RESTING HOUSE BY THE

BEACH. WHILE MODERN BEACH HOUSES ARE COMMON IN TODAY’S DAY AND
AGE, OUR GROUP DECIDED TO GO BACK TO OUR TRADITIONAL ROOTS. WE
OPTED FOR A 2-STOREY BEACH HOUSE WHILE TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE
WELL-KNOWN NATIONAL HOUSE SYMBOL OF THE FILIPINOS, WHICH IS THE
BAHAY KUBO/NIPA HUT.

WE CHOSE THE DESIGN TO LEAN LESS FROM MODERN HOUSES BECAUSE THE
BAHAY KUBO HOUSE PROVIDES A NATURAL FLOW OF VENTILATION WITH THE
USE OF THE WINDOWS. IN THIS CONTEXT, SINCE IT IS A BEACH HOUSE, IT IS
LOCATED NEARBY THE SEA’S SHORELINE. THE SEA BREEZE WOULD PASS
THROUGH EASIER WITHIN THE WALLS AND ROOFING OF THE BAHAY KUBO,

THEREFORE GIVING COMFORT TO WHOEVER RESIDES IN IT. IN ADDITION,
WHEN IT’S RAINING, RAINDROPS CANNOT EASILY ENTER BECAUSE OF THE
DESIGN OF THE WINDOWS UNLESS IT IS ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG WIND
CURRENT.
ROOF
SINCE WE DECIDED FOR THE LOCAL HOUSING DESIGN, THE MATERIALS USED The beach house roof is thatched with nipa palm leaves and coconut fronds. Considering
the tropical and maritime climate of the Philippines. That is characterized by warm

sweltering and shallow temperatures. In spite of its transparency which allows the
sunlight to pass through, it simultaneously blocks harmful ultraviolet radiation. And
because it is resistant to UV light's effects, polycarbonate is an excellent choice for
constructing a pool patio. In addition to the functional advantages it provides, it also has
aesthetic aspects that contribute to the enhancement of the stucture.

WALLS
The primary material for the wall on this building is amakan; amakan is a type of wall
made out of woven bamboo strips. This implies that y using only this, the security and
privacy of the guests are at risk, so we decided to put a concrete wall before the
amakan, which means there is a wall before the amakan. By doing so, the building's

VIEWING DECK
The viewing deck is the last structure you would go to before going to the shoreline,
meaning that the building and this space are distant. By this, we decided to use
composite wood decking as the material for this space.

SPOT DETAILS As for the terrace, we used terrazzo tiles for the flooring. Although it has a different
texture from the other materials, its visuals complement the holistic vibe of the building in
a way that its contrasting aesthetic compliments the building as a whole.

TREE HOUSE
A tree house is an excellent detail to put in a resort. It gives a friendly vibe, and the
children, and children at heart, would love it. The moment when people arrive at the
resort, they will see a treehouse made of bamboo. Providing a nice view of the house
and is a perfect place to relax and enjoy privacy.

FIRE PIT
A fire pit is a good hang at zone, it gives chill vibes, good for relaxing especially on the
beach. This comes in handy for cold temperatures at night and is also an excellent place
to get together with people, eat food, listen to music, or just simply get to know more
about each other by talking.
