PREFACE
Gulf Offshore (The Manager) hereby invite ship repair yard (The
Contractors) to tender for carrying out the repairs, overhauls and
renewal described in the accompanying specification (The Specification)
This specification defines the work to be carried out during the
dry-docking/repair.
Please advise if you have a dry-dock available and can offer required
services.
Each item number to be separately quoted for, according to below listed
services and given itemised cost breakdown where requested.
In case certain jobs may be difficult to estimate based upon the wording
of the specification
Yard estimators are invited to visit the vessel in order to make
themselves familiar with the various jobs and thus enable them to offer
firm prices.
If such a visit should be of interest, please contact Gulf Offshore for
information.
All works carried out by yard personnel during the vessel's stay at the
shipyard will be authorised on the basis of a written acceptance from
your Company on the BIMCO Repaircon Terms and Conditions.
Your quotation should explicitly confirm agreement to these terms and
the following General Conditions of Contract for repair work

Gulf Offshore do not imply, and Contractors must not assume, that the
vessel will be free from explosive or dangerous gases.
Before performing any work Contractors shall have made by a qualified
chemist who will be required to issue certificates and furnish Gulf
Offshore, or their representatives and the Master of the vessel with
copies of the certificates, testifying that:
a) For work to be carried out inside a compartment, the atmosphere of
the compartment in question, adjacent compartments and in the vicinity
of the work location is free from explosive or dangerous gases and safe
for work to be undertaken.
b) For work to be carried out outside a compartment, the atmosphere in
adjacent compartments and in the vicinity of the work location is free
from explosive or dangerous gases and safe for work to be undertaken.
If it is determined at any time that gas freeing and/or cleaning is
necessary to obtain the chemists certificates, this work shall be
performed by Contractors.

7 SPECIFICATION
The owners reserve their right to cancel any item in the specification
and credit to be given accordingly.
8 VARIATION ORDERS
Owner has the right to order variations to the Work.
Such variations may include an increase or decrease in the quantity,
character, kind, features and characteristics or manufacture of the Work
or parts thereof and adjustments to the Schedule.
If the Owner issues a written Variation Order it will be required within
1 working day from the receipt of such a request,that the Yard shall
submit to the Owner an estimate containing:
a) A description of the work to be performed under the variation
b) The effects on the Price by Tasks Title.
c) The effects on the Schedule.
If Yard does not issue such estimate, it shall be considered as an
acceptance without any effect on Price and Schedule, and the Variation
Order will be issued reflecting same.
9 OWNER S WORK
The owner shall be at liberty to carry out any repair work with his own
crew and/or employee or with the aid of specialists/sub contractors.
The yard is to give permission to these specialists/sub contractors to
enter the yard at their own risk.
Assistance from the yard to this work where required shall be indicated
under «Repairs to be carried out on an hourly rate basis».

This Article describes Owner s remedies in case of delay for which Yard
is responsible.
If the Work is not completed in accordance with the Schedule, The Yard
shall pay liquidated damages to Owner.
The liquidated damages for not meeting the Completion Date shall be
three, 3% of the Contract Price per week or pro rata thereof, thereafter
five, 5% per week.
Yard s cumulative liability for delay under this Article is limited to
13% of the Contract Price.
12 REPORTING
Daily meetings to be held at a convenient time/place for all parties
Minutes of meeting to be kept by yard.
Copy to be submitted for comments to all participants in these meetings.
Final docking reports from Yard to be sent to Gulf Offshore as soon as
possible after leaving the Yard.
13 ADDITIONAL
Tenders who might be in need of clarification regarding specific jobs,
are kindly requested to contact the owners office.

WORK SPECIFICATION:
Furnish labour, equipment and materials necessary to
accomplish the following:
Hull Areas -
The following to be allowed for when
preparing the estimate for cleaning.
i. Anti fouling area to include the thruster tunnels, sea
chests, rudders, - Approx 1900m².
ii. Entire topsides including porthole tubes and exterior
of bulwarks etc - Approx 940m²
iii. Draught marks, thruster markings, class markings,
names etc - Approx 20m²
1) Cleaning
a) All external hull topside surfaces are to be high
pressure hose washed using fresh water to remove all
fouling and deposits.
Water pressure applied must be in excess of 4000psi.
b) All oil and grease staining or other deposits are to be
removed before painting commences, allow for 10% on
topsides.
c) High pressure water washing should commence as soon as
possible after the vessel has taken the blocks and is
clear of the water.
2) Blasting
a) Allow for covering main and thruster propellers prior
to commencement of blasting.
c) Allow for the plugging of scuppers and freeing ports

Names and ports of registry draught and load lines etc
including thruster markings are to be painted in one coat
of white undercoat, and one coat of gloss topcoat.
2) GENERAL CONDITIONS
Supervision
All painting is to be carried out in accordance with the
specification or to the requirements of the Owners
representative who is responsible for stipulating and
supervising the mixture and the application of the paint.
Weather Conditions
No paint is to be applied to frosted or damp surfaces,
only to clean dry surfaces.
The Owners representative will advise the Contractor of
his requirements with regard to the allowable temperatures
and humidity conditions.
These are to be strictly observed.
Portable blowers and/or heaters are to be available if
required, either to eliminate condensation of the ships
hull below the bilge keels or to assist in drying the
ships hull, or to accelerate drying if necessary.
Contractors are not required to make allowance for this in
their quotation, but should indicate an appropriate unit
price on an hourly or daily basis.

DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT:
Main engine load control.
Main engine 1 will not take full load, slowing down if
pushed to over 85% pitch.
It has been noticed that the governor actuator bottle
screw has been adjusted.
Other engines also to be checked for load sharing as all
adjusters are different.
The problem was noticed after engine overhauls at last
refit
This is not a problem with engines themselves and has
nothing to do with the recent engine overhauls.
DETAILED LOCATION:
All main engines.
REPAIR:
RR service engineer who specialises in governor load and
load sharing to attend trials.
To check and set up engine maximum loads and set up load
sharing between engines.
DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT:
None of the engine mounted screens work, on all engines
some engine data (most important fuel rack and charge air
pressure)are not transmitted to the UMAS alarm and
monitoring system.

No's 1, 2, 3& 4 Main Engines, 24 in total, and delivered
to Owners appointed Sub contractors for overhaul and fully
tested on appropriate equipment prior to transport back to
Yard for re-fitting by Yard personnel.
Yard to transport injectors to Owners sub contractors in
packaging of suitable quality to satisfy all environmental
regulations
Yard will be advised of sub contractors address

new parts supplied by Owners.
Governor drive bearings,seals etc to be replaced with ship
supplied spares.
Governor drives to be checked for free movement before
being refitted to engines.

and set up in association with engine makers

bearings, inspection of gear wheels, inspection of gear
wheel mesh, slide shoes, crank disc and associated
cranking arrangements and other internal parts.
Gears,blades and bolts to be dye penned for cracks,
Upon re-fitting the replacement is required of all seals
including servo piston seals, internal and external seals,
sealing rings, o-rings and gaskets.
Costs for any machining required for alignment of gear
mesh are to be allowed for in the tender
Also it will be required to remove four thruster blades
and renew of o-ring seals.
Yard to provide prices for machining of blade palms and
crank discs seperately
These are bolted palm blades with locking bars on bolts.
NOTE 1: Spares are to be supplied by the owner, and a
manufacturer's representative will be present under owners
separate order, to supervise yard labour.
NOTE 2: The disassembly, inspection and reassembly of the
gear wheels, casing, the gear train and interior parts
mentioned above to be carried out under the guidance and
supervision of manufacturer's representatives.
The hub, blades, gears, axles, shafts, roots, bearing
housings, brackets and any other parts experiencing
stress/load to be crack detected using dye penetrant
method and further cleaned, measured and thoroughly
prepared for assembly.
REINSTATE:
All removed parts to be assembled back after inspections
and repairs mentioned above and refitted into position.
Upon completion of the work, the thruster unit will be

drained in order to access couplings when SKF is removed
Release SKF Coupling (SKF Hand Hydraulic Pump Type
729124), shaft earthing device and withdraw tail shafts
Transport tail shafts to yard workshop and provide
adequate support to enable safe working;
Remove seal housings and overhaul, owners appointed
contractor will complete this work but will require yard
assistance and yard should include this cost in tender

Note stern seal liners are ceramic so must be handled

The vessel has lifting eyes already in place for removal

Rudder footing posts from rudders to Kort nozzles missing.
When the ship was built there was a bar between the Kort
nozzle and bottom of rudder (to centre of rotation of
rudder).
This is to stop any rig wires getting between Kort nozzle
and rudder. In the last drydock this must have been cut
off to enable removal of rudders, but was then not
replaced.

works the fire watch to be continuously maintained in the

Overhaul of STBD quarter pin.

Located inside void space N 65 inside the WB tank N
24(Afterpeak).

PREPARATION REQUIRED:
Yard to provide qualified hydraulic contractor, lights,
ventilation, entry permit and gas free certificate,
cranage. NOTE: quarter pin weight is approx 150 kg.
Yard to allow draining and disposal of approx. 15 litres
of hydraulic oil from the quarter pin cylinder during the
REPAIR.
REPAIR:
Two M 16 high tensile Allen key bolts to be removed from
quarter pin top cover(pos. 10 on the attached drawing) and
replaced by Yard provided M 16 eye bolts to allow safe
lifting.
Three hydraulic hoses to be marked and disconnected and
8pcs M 16 bolts to be removed from quarter pin bottom
cover.
Quarter pin ram bottom cover to be forced down to allow
removal of bottom pin (pos. 6 on the attached drawing).
Once bottom pin removed, quarter pin to be lifted out of
its housing (pos .1) using Yard crane and transported to
the Yard workshop for repair.
In the workshop it will be required to:
Replace ram seals(vessel supply);

REINSTATE:
After repair Yard to install quarter pin back into the
housing (pos .1) using the crane.
Hoses and bolts to be installed back in the reverse
order.
Quarter pin to be filled with oil and function tested.
Vessel crew to reinstate lids using new cork joints(vessel
supply).

Main anchor handling winch servo pipes are heavily
corroded and require renewing.

PREPARATION REQUIRED:
Drop some of oil from main winch system to lub oil drop
tank (ship' engineers).
Remove old pipe, 16xM16 nuts/bolts on two flanges.
REPAIR:
Renew one section heavy duty steel hydraulic pipe. 50 bar
normal working pressure, 76mm OD, id unknown. 1.8m long,
two flanges PCD 144mm flange thickness 22mm 8xM16
bolts/nuts per flange, straight pipe.
New pipe to be scrupulously clean before fitting. Flanges
to be cleaned.

up to 50 bar oil pressure.

REPAIR:
Vessel staff will isolate all hydraulics to enable pin to
be raised
Renew hydraulic cylinder.
Removal of the hydraulic cylinder can be done with the
towing pin lifted approx 50 cm higher than normal
operational height, however fitting of the new hydraulic
cylinder is only possible when the complete towing pin has
been removed from the unit and laying on the main deck.
All spares will be supplied from vessel stock

End brackets, items 1 and 2, part nos. 14416H and 14842 V
(left and right) to be renewed if corroded in way of
plates 12, which is very likely (Centre one on work drum
and centre one on tow drum).
REINSTATE:
Fit hoses and test before moving back in place.

unbolt two gypsy mounting plates (four bolts each), remove
two off chain gypsies and renew gypsies or repair gypsy
cheeks with Wearmax rods.

Refit gypsies, bolt up, refit chains to correct tension.

Allow for full blast/disc of tank floor and on bulkheads
up to 3 metres from tank floor then sweep/spot
blasting/discing of remaining area as required.
Allow for 150m2 of preparation per tank.
REPAIR:
On completion of blasting tank is to be cleaned and
coated, allow 1 stripe coat to all internal stiffener
attachment welds, then 2 x T/U and 1 F/C, paint vessel
supply
REINSTATE:
Once tank recoated Chain tails to be returned to the
locker and tank-bracket pin inserted, this will be done by
vessel crew after docking has been completed.

Shut start air and tag.
Lock out main switchboard breaker and tag.
Isolation and reinstatement of services associated with
the equipment and the testing required on completion to be
by a nominated ship's Officer having responsibility for
witnessing and acceptance.
SCOPE OF WORK:-
Disconnect main cables, AVR, space heater.
Open alternator covers.
Remove NDE bearing and renew.
Clean alternator stator and rotor.
Disconnect coupling.
Rotor may be removed ashore for cleaning/testing.
There is not enough access for stator removal.
Record insulation of Main stator, rotor, exciter prior to
cleaning.
Remove rotor to workshop for cleaning, stator to be
cleaned in situ.
Renew bearing.
Inspect and test rotating diodes.
Measure air gap on main stator/rotor.
