DUVAL® AC Surge Protection Devices (ACSPD) have 2 specific design to provide protection in common mode and
differential mode, as well as in ALL mode protection configurations.
For ALL mode (7 mode) protection, DUVAL® Technology is based on Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) Technology only,
providing a COMPLETE PROTECTION with lower let through voltage for the system.
For common and differential mode (3+1) mode, DUVAL® Technology is based on Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) for its phase
protection and Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) or Spark-gap (SG) technology for its neutral protection.

General Specification
DUVAL® Series Surge Filters (DSF) offers a
Operating Temperature -40 to 70 °C
better alternative solution to Type 3 SPDs.
Storage Temperature -55 to 90 °C
The DSF24 series surge arrester is a series of
Humidity 0 - 90% RH
lightning and power transient arrestors with
filtering capability. These allow voltage surge Terminals Self opening 0.5 - 4 sg mm
limitation and filtering for sensitive electronic LED Indication One LED Two LED
devices connected to the main power supply.

DUVAL® AC Surge Protection Device (ACSPD)
Model Selection and Installation Criteria
DUVAL® AC Surge Protection Devices (ACSPD) should be fitted immediately below the installation main isolating device.
The selected surge arrester must be of the correct protection voltage, install as close as possible to the equipment to be
protected and be well co-ordinated with other surge protective devices in the system.
Equipment Tolerance Levels for Impulse withstand Voltage according to IEC 60364-4-44,

Installation Rules
50cm rule
For safety and effectiveness, it is important to keep the cable to a maximum 50cm length bundle together in the shape of
T-wiring (parallel to load) or a V-wiring connection (series to load) or it is to be as short as possible. The main reason is that
when a 10kA lightning current is travelling along a 1 meter cable, the voltage across it is 1200Volts for I: 10kA wave 8/20,
U: 1200V (1m:1µH:1200V).
Equal Potential
All Surge Protection Devices (SPD) that are earthed in the same circuit must be equally connected or bonded to the main
earth to achieve equipotentiality. The earth resistance must be in between 5 to 10 ohm or lower.
