shall be product cooled and flushed. Seal chambers shall be integral with the pump casing and shall be
designed to permit ease of maintenance.
Where specified on the pump data sheets the Supplier shall provide a suitable seal leakage detection
system with a switch enclosure certified EEx ‘d’, IIA T3. Seal leakage shall be piped to the edge of the
baseplate where the drain piping system shall terminate in a raised face flange to ASME B16.5.
Each pump shaft shall be equipped with guides, supports and bearings as required to prevent
excessive vibration during all modes of operation.
The suction and discharge flanges on each pump shall be raised face in accordance with ASME B16.5,
rated as shown on the pump data sheets.
Each pump shall incorporate an internal bypass and overpressure relief valve. The relief valve shall be
set to operate at not more than the maximum allowable working pressure of the casing but at not less
than 1.7 bar above the rated discharge pressure.
Couplings shall be of the non-lubricated, flexible spacer type. Removable coupling guards shall be
provided. Guards shall be sufficiently rigid to avoid contact with couplings or shafts as a result of bodily
contact. Guards shall be of the non-sparking type.
Each pump and motor drive shall be mounted on a common fabricated steel, drain pan baseplate
complete with flanged drainage connection. All mounting pads shall be fully machined flat and parallel
to receive the equipment. Arrangements for longitudinal and transverse adjustments shall be provided
to facilitate alignment of the motor drive relative to the pump. Baseplates shall be provided with a
machined reference surface and levelling screws to permit ready levelling on installation. The Supplier
shall provide foundation/holding down bolts and a variety of shims in adequate quantities for setting up
the baseplate on the foundations.
As required on pump datasheets, pumpset shall be provided with temperature monitoring facilities using
Pt100 RTD 4 wire elements for temperature monitoring of:
- Inboard and outboard bearings of motors
- Pump casing
- Six embedded motor winding temperature
- Pump bearings
The Supplier shall provide suitably rated & certified (EExd, IP55, IIA T3) junction boxes completely
wired up for the transmission of the above temperature signals to the control system. Each junction box
shall be mounted on the pumpset baseplate.
Auxiliary process piping shall be sized in accordance with the Supplier's standard supply.
Each pump delivery branch shall be provided with a connection for a pressure gauge.

2.3 Materials of Construction

Pump materials shall be in accordance with the Suppliers standard for this application, except that all
metal parts in contact with the pumped liquid shall be free from zinc, copper, cadmium and their alloys.

2.4 Motor Drives

Motors shall be rated for 110% of the highest operating pressure as determined by the relief valve
setting, in accordance with the requirements of API Standard 676. Particular requirements for the
motor drives are given in the attached motor data sheets.

preparation, and the applicable external coating shall be in accordance with Specification for Field
Painting; SP-ME-0101.

2.6 Marking
A stainless steel nameplate shall be permanently attached to each pumpset. The nameplate shall state
as a minimum requirement:
• The equipment tag number
• The pump rated head and flow
• The Supplier’s model and serial number

3.0 DOCUMENTATION

Documentation to be submitted for approval by GAA shall include the following:

i) Prior to Manufacturing

4.0 INSPECTION AND TESTING

Inspection and testing as detailed below and in accordance with the data sheets shall be
carried out at the Supplier’s works.
The Purchaser shall have right of entry to all Supplier, and Sub-Supplier plants where work
upon or testing of equipment is in progress.
On satisfactory completion and acceptance of each test the Supplier shall submit to the
Purchaser six copies of test certificates. These shall include functional and material test
certificates, hydrostatic test certificates, and head/capacity, efficiency, NPSH and power
curves.
The Test Certificate shall bear the Purchaser's name and Order Number, the Supplier’s name
and seal, and the Serial Number of the equipment tested.

4.1 Pump Inspections and Tests

Inspection and testing shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of API 676 as detailed in
the data sheets.
The following tests and inspections shall be carried out at the Supplier’s works:
i) A hydrostatic pressure test of each pump casing shall be carried out to 1.5 times the casing
design pressure. The test pressure shall be sustained for one hour.
ii) The Supplier shall run each pump prior to full performance testing to ensure that no defects
exist, and if necessary, shall strip, inspect, and reassemble any unit to ensure sound mechanical
condition.
iii) Performance tests shall be based on the Supplier’s standard test procedure to determine the
hydraulic characteristics are to specification. Tests shall be undertaken on all pumps included in this
specification. The Purchaser shall witness one performance test of each pump type.
iv) If testing is carried out using the Supplier’s test bed drive train then after satisfactory testing of
the pumps, couplings and motors as individual units, they shall be assembled at the Supplier's works on
to a common baseplate and aligned. A single point string test shall be performed on one unit of each
pump type using the contract drive train. The power required at the test point when operating on water
(SG = 1.0) shall not exceed the maximum power output of the contract motor.
An inspection of the pump/motor set shall be carried out by the Inspector prior to dispatch from the
Supplier's Works to ensure no defects exist in the assembly and alignment of the pump and motor.
Irrespective of the Purchaser’s acceptance of the shop performance tests, final acceptance will be
subject to the Purchaser’s approval of site commissioning and running under actual operating
conditions.

4.2 Motor Inspections and Tests

Works tests shall be carried out at the motor Supplier’s works and witnessed by the Purchaser.
Tests shall be as detailed in the pump data sheets.

5.0 PACKAGING AND PROTECTION

All items shall be provided with adequate protection against corrosion, mechanical damage
and deterioration until they are unpacked at site. Flanged nozzles shall be sealed and
protected. The Supplier shall ensure that all packing and protection supplied for the materials
