EXPERIENCE

Pakistan Girls guide association arranged one week training rom 13th, 15th to 17th march. First
we were trained by volunteers and mostly teachers. The Association has a small core of full time
trainers who mentor the volunteers. The guide methodology centers on learning in small groups,
supportive adult-child relationship and a cooperative rather than a competitive environment.
Each girl is encouraged to find her own space. The aim is to make us confident and skilled, able
to assume leadership in the group and community. The next step of the community work was
cascading session the objective o it was to delivery those lectures and knowledge to the young
girls. Government New Girls High School no. 1 F_Block in Rawalpindi was the institution
chosen for our group's cascading session on April 13, 2023. When we arrived at school, Ms.
Farzana Akram, the principal, was the first person we encountered. We then asked her to assign
us in a class. She was really helpful and reminded us that all classes are available for anyone who
wishes to attend them. Therefore, I selected class ninth, whose strength was 18, for my cascading
session. The majority of the students ranged in age from 13 to 15.I did my very best to teach
each of the four modules to them for an hour. I gave a quick overview of the Pakistan Girls
Guide Association before beginning my lesson. Following that, I introduced them to personal
safety as the "First Module" and offered a quick explanation of what it is. For example, I told
them the story of Mina and had them draw the entire scene after I had presented it to them in
order to raise awareness among children about personal safety. I also showed them the Tina and
Tinko movie, which they diligently reviewed and learned a lot from. After that, we begin a
discussion in which the majority of the students actively participate. The Second Module covered
online safety. I questioned the students about their knowledge of online safety, most were aware
of it. I also asked them about the advantages and disadvantages of the internet and most students
were very well aware about the pros and cons o internet. After that they all shared their
experience and knowledge about internet and social media. The Third Module I taught was about
emotional wellbeing. I explained to them how the students struggled in their lives and were
unable to communicate their emotions honestly, as well as how everyone experiences emotions
differently depending on the circumstances. They engage in behaviours like pass the Feelings,
Favourite Personality, River of Life, etc. to get their attention. The last and final module was on
drug abuse. That topic was quite interesting or them as they all had some personal or family
experiences which they all shared without any shame so that others could get lesson from them.
Additionally, the majority of the children participated extremely actively in all types of activities
and were quite cooperative. All of them gave excellent answers to my questions. They took a lot
away from the session. They thoroughly liked the session in addition to learning a lot by
participating in various activities, viewing videos, etc. Overall, the session was excellent and all
of the school's teachers were very accommodating.
