LESSON PLAN

Subject: Social Studies Teacher name: Hasan Tanveer

Topic: Help Save the Planet Methodolgy: Roleplaying Time Limit: 70 min

Objectives:

Student will be able to:

 Identify the main problems that are causing environmental pollution.


(min. 2 to 3)
 Find out the ways of how they can contribute in saving the planet.
(min. 2 to 3)

Materials:

1. Whiteboard and markers


2. Pictures or visuals of different environmental problems (e.g., pollution,
deforestation, waste)
3. Costumes or props for roleplaying (optional)
4. Small cards with roleplay scenarios written on them
5. Timer or clock

Procedure:

Introduction (10 minutes):

1. Begin by discussing the importance of taking care of the planet. You can ask
questions like:
 Why is it important to protect the environment?
 What are some environmental problems you have heard of?
2. Show pictures or visuals of different environmental problems and briefly
explain each one. Encourage students to share their thoughts and feelings
about these issues.

Activity 1: Brainstorming (10 minutes):

1. On the whiteboard, create two columns with the headings "Environmental


Problems" and "Solutions."
2. Ask students to brainstorm environmental problems they know and write
them under the first column.
3. Then, discuss possible solutions for each problem and write them in the
second column.

Activity 2: Roleplay Preparation (10 minutes):

1. Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a scenario card. The
scenarios should involve environmental problems and require students to come up with
solutions.
2. Give the groups some time to prepare for their roleplay. They can decide who will play
which roles and what actions they will take to address the environmental problem in
their scenario.

Roleplay (15-20 minutes):

1. Each group performs their roleplay scenario in front of the class.


2. Encourage other students to watch attentively and take note of both the environmental
problem and the solution presented in each scenario.
3. After each roleplay, have a brief discussion with the class about what they observed. Ask
questions like:
 What was the environmental problem in this scenario?
 How did the characters in the roleplay work together to solve the problem?
 Are the solutions practical and effective in real life?
