Today i am going to
tell about my childhood lesson.

1)Abdul Kalam was born in a middle class tamil family in Rameswaram former Madras
state . Here abdul kalam is intoducing his father, his father name is Jainulabdeen
and his father was not very rich and his not highly educated and he had some other
qualities that are he was naturally very wise and other quality is he was very
kind. He's mother name is Ashiamma and she was a great support and help to his
father. She was very kind hearted because she fed every day to outsiders and among
with my family.

2) He has many siblings and he is short with ordinary looks and born to tall and
handsome parents that means his parents are looking beautiful. They lived in a
house and that house was used for so many generations which was built in 19 th
century and the house was made of limestone and brick that used to called as pucca
house. His father was very simple and very strict in avoid all luxeries and
comforts. And his father provided all the needs such as food, medicine and clothes.
His childhood was very secure because his parents provided his needs and show love
on him. And he is very thankful towards his parents
. These qualities are very helpful in future to success.

3) When he was 8 years old , the second world war broke out in 1939. And for some
reasons the demand of tamarind seeds was raised in the market . He collected seeds
and he sold them in provision shop on Mosque street. And he collected one anna per
day . His brother in law Jallaludin had told him stories about the world war , and
later he used to trace in the headlines in Dinamani newspaper. Rameswaram was
completely unaffected by the war because it is far from affect area. Then India was
forced by the armies of uk, usa and russia to join the 2nd worldwar and state of
emergency declared. At first trains from India stopped at Rameswaram station then
travelled to Dhanushkodi.During the war the train halt at Rameswaram station had
been cancelled and the trains from India directly travelled to Dhanushkodi. The
newspapers for the Rameswaram had bundled and thrown out from the moving train on
the Rameswaram road between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. His cousin Samsuddin who
distributed the newspapers in Rameswaram. And he is looking for a help to catch the
bundles and apj filled that slot and in return he gave him some money. After 50
years also he can feel satisfaction in earning own money for the first time.

4) As a child figure of authority is first parents and next figure of authority can
be teachers that means Whenever a child is born he has some inherited
characteristics . Here inherited means the qualities gain from the parents by birth
. We get good qualities from socio-economic and emotional environment that means
from good family told by Kalam .
His telling what are the qualities his inherited from his parents . He has
inherited honesty and self discipline from his father and faith in goodness and
being kind from his mother and remaining all his three brothers and sister
also inherited from his parents. He had three friends in his childhood named
Ramanadha Sastry, Aravindan and Sivaprakasan and these boys were from the orthodox
Hindu brahmin families. Here orthodox means strictly following their religion. Now
Apj belongs to a muslim family and he says that during childhood they all friends
were closed to each other and they never felt they belongs to different religions.
Here religion was not an barrir in their friendship.
And apj's best friend Ramanadha sastry was the son of Pakshi lakshmana Sastry and
he is the priest of Rameswaram temple. Ramanadha Sastry took the priesthood of
Rameswaram temple from his father. Aravindan took an business of arranging
transport who visited Rameswaram. And Sivaprakasan became a catering contactor for
southeren railways.

5) During the annual Shri Sita Rama Kalyanm ceremony his family used to arrange
boats and special platform for idols to the marriage site in middle of the pond
called Rama tirtha near his house. In his family his mother and grandmother are
used to tell the children about Ramayana and from the life of the prophet and these

sacred, because ramanadha satry was an hindu family so he used to wear a sacred
thread. The new teacher of kalams class could not tolerate a hindu sitting with an
muslim boy. So kalam was asked to sit in the last on the back bench . Kalam and
ramanadha sastry felt very sad . Sastry looked at kalam very sad and depressed
because he shifed to the last row and last bench.

7) They went to home after the school and told their parents about the incident in
the school . Ramanadha sastry's father Lakshamana Sastry called the teacher and in
their presence , he told the teacher that he should not spread the poison of
inequality and religion in their minds.Lakshamana sastry asked the teacher in an
honest way to either tell sorry or leave the school and Rameswaram. The teacher also
changed his behaviour to see Lakshamana Sastry's sense of convinction and way he
communicated.

8)In Rameswaram there are different social groups that are

brahmins,Kshatriyas,Vaishyas and Shudras and these are the categories in Rameswarm.
They follow strictly their categories . But Kalam's teacher SivaSubramania Iyer is
an religious person and he was an orthodox brahmin and his wife also very
traditional. But he did not follow the caste system in distinction. He worked very
hard social barriers of caste system , he want to interact with different caste
with each other.SivaSubramania Iyer encouraged Kalam that if he work hard he also
develop like the highly educated people of the bigcities.

9) One day SivaSubramani Iyer invited Kalam to his home for a meal. His wife was
frightend to see Kalam who was a muslim boy in the kitchen. She refused to serve
meal in her kitchen because she belongs to orthodox family , but when his wife
refused from serving food to Kalam SivaSubramania Iyer was not angry with his wife
but instead he served meal to Kalam with his own hands and sat down beside Kalam
and eat his meal. His wife had observed any difference in the way of eating and
drinking water and cleaning the floor after the meal and then SivaSubramania Iyer
invited Kalam to join dinner again for the next weekend when he was leaving ." If u
want to go against normse of the society you have to be strong and brave and you
have to face the situation". Kalam visited SivaSubramania Iyer house next week his
wife took him inside her kitchen and without hesitating she served food.

10) At that time the second world war was over in 1945 and India's freedom was
about to happen in 1947. In Indian Freedom struggle Gandhiji declared that "Indians
will built there own India" that means the country was filled with an
optimisum.Kalam asked his father permission to leave Rameswaram to study at the
district headquarters in Ramanathapuram.

11) He said one quote from Khalil Gibran poetry and told to his mother "Your
children are not your children" and they desire they life for itself. He said his
mother You haveto share your love but not your thoughts. They fulfill their own
ideas, So that is how he tried to convience kalam's mother to let him go to
Ramanathapuram for higher studies. The story came to an end.
