WARNING: CLEAR THE AIRCRAFT PATH.


ALWAYS KEEP ALL DOORS CLOSED DURING TOWING.
NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT.
NEVER TOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH PROPELLER ROTATING.

CAUTION: GEAR STRESS DURING TURNS WHEN TOWING:


- NEVER EXCEED THE MAXIMUM TURNING ANGLE INDICATED BY THE POINTER
AND THE RED GRADUATED PLATE
- WHEN TOWING AT SHARP ANGLES, TOW VERY SLOWLY
- NEVER TURN THE NOSE GEAR WHILE THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT MOVING
- NEVER BRAKE TO A STOP IN TURN (PROCEED IN STRAIGHT PATH BEFORE
PARKING).

CAUTION: TOWING CONDITIONS:


- QUALIFIED PERSONNEL MUST ALWAYS BE PRESENT IN FLIGHT
COMPARTMENT
- NEVER EXCEED A SLOW WALK SPEED
- NEVER TOW AIRCRAFT OFF THE RUNWAY, IN SOFT SAND OR MUD
- NEVER TOW AIRCRAFT WITH TWO TIRES ON ONE AXLE ARE FLAT
- NEVER TOW AIRCRAFT WHEN WIND EXCEEDS 50 KT

- MAKE CERTAIN THAT AN ADEQUATE SYSTEM FOR RELAYING
COMMUNICATIONS IS USED
- NEVER TOW THE AIRCRAFT IN A CONGESTED AREA
- PERSONNEL MUST BE PRESENT AT EACH WING TIP AND TAIL CONE NEAR
OBSTACLES
- NEVER REMOVE THE CHOCKS UNTIL READY TO TOW THE AIRCRAFT.

CAUTION: MONITOR THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE DURING TOWING OPERATION.


MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT FALL BELOW 2000 PSI.

(1) Energize the aircraft electrical AC and DC circuits: Ref. MP ATR-A-24-46-XX-00ZZZ-761Z-

NOTE: The aircraft has to be energized by battery for VHF use.

(1) If the pressure is less than 2000 psi (138 bar):
(a) Stop to tow the aircraft.
(b) On panel 902VU, push the HYD AUX PUMP pushbutton to pressurize the blue
hydraulic system.

(1) Make sure that the pressure of EMER BRK ACCU is more than or equal to 2000 psi (138
bar).

CAUTION: TOWING WITH THE HYDRAULIC STEERING SYSTEM PRESSURIZED CAN


DAMAGE THE SYSTEM.

(2) Select the N/W steering switch in the OFF position.

4. Procedure

A. Towing with Nose wheel in Day

(1) Make sure that the landing-gear ground locking-pins are installed.

NOTE: Locking pins installation is optional when you tow the aircraft for flight
operations (example: positioning aircraft for the flight crew at arrival or
departure).

(2) Make sure that the static ground cables are removed.

CAUTION: MAKE CERTAIN THAT TOW BAR IS IN HORIZONTAL POSITION AND THAT
TOWING POINT ON TOWING VEHICLE IS NOT HIGHER THAN 16 INCHES.

(3) Connect the TOW BAR (98S09008019000) to the nose landing gear at point (B).

NOTE: Use only the tow bar approved for this aircraft.

(4) Connect the tractor to the tow bar.


(5) Get the control tower permission to tow.
(6) Make sure that the personnel in the flight compartment is ready to operate the brakes.
(7) Make sure that the person in charge is in position to monitor the towing operation.
(8) Remove the wheel chocks and keep them available for use.
(9) Tow the aircraft and listen to the watch tower frequency. Get the clearances to cross
taxiways and the active runways.
(10) Complete the towing operation:
- Center the nose wheel.
- Put the chocks in position.
- Connect the static ground cables.
- Remove the tow bar.

5. Close-Up

A. Close Up
(1) Put back the N/W steering switch in its initial position.
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical AC and DC circuits: Ref. MP ATR-A-24-46-XX-00ZZZ-
561Z-A.
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
