INTRODUCTION
As a result of the manual being based on the approved guidelines of The Ministry
of Education for The Bahamas, all sections have been modified for alternative
learning which is more suitable for students that have learning challenges or
impairments.

1. Usage of
a. Correct punctuation, capitalization and spelling
b. Appropriate paragraphing
c. Appropriate vocabulary
d. Correct agreement of
i. subject/verb
ii. pronoun/antecedent
iii. modifiers
e. correct verb tenses
i. past tense
ii. present tense
iii. future tense, etc.
f. variety of sentence structures
g. re-expressing portions of a selected passage using
specific words in different forms such as
i. verbs as nouns
ii. adjectives as adverbs, etc.

a. Prepare an outline of ideas to be included in a
selected essay or letter.
b. Produce a coherent and logically developed
essay or informal letter of at least three paragraphs
(approximately 300 words) on a chosen topic while
applying
i. the use of relevant ideas
ii. proper paragraphing
iii. suitable transitional words
iv. word phrases
v. appropriate stylistic devices
c. Apply appropriate and different levels of English
and correct grammar especially for
