Long time ago, there lived a beautiful woman named Dayang Sumbi. One day, she was
quilting. Suddenly, her quilt fell off from her house. She prayed to Gods, "If a man picks up
my quilt, he will be my husband. If a woman, she will be my sister".
 Then, a male dog picks it up. For keeping her words, she married the dog and called
him Tumang. She gave birth to a baby, named him Sangkuriang, but never told him who his
father was.
One day, Sangkuriang was hunting with Tumang in the forest and he found nothing. He
blamed Tumang for the failure and killed him. When Dayang Sumbi knew that, she hit
Sangkuriang's head with a big spoon and asked him to go away.
Many years later, Sangkuriang found a house in the forest and a beautiful woman was
inside. The woman, Dayang Sumbi, recognized him as Sangkuriang. He fell in love with her
without knowing that she was his mother. He forced her to marry him. Dayang Sumbi could
not accept it because they were mother and son.
She asked him an impossible requirement to marry her. He must build a big boat within
a night and shall be finished by dawn. Sangkuriang agreed and built it with the help of spirits.
When he was almost finished, Dayang Sumbi asked women nearby to hit the grains as a
fake sign that dawn is coming. The spirits run away and Sangkuriang failed to finish the boat.
He was very angry and kicked away the boat upside down and it turned into a mountain
called Tangkuban Perahu.

The shark, who plays an important role in maintaining ecosystems, is a fish that lives in
the sea, particularly in warm waters. Like all fish, sharks breathe through their gills.
There are about 375 species of sharks. The smallest shark is called the dwarf dogfish,
less than 20 centimetres long. The huge whale shark can be more than 15 metres long. Sharks
usually eat fish and shellfish, but great white sharks sometimes eat seals, dolphins, whales,
and other marine mammals.
Sharks are vertebrates, animals with a backbone. However, a shark's skeleton is not
made of bone. It is made of a bendable material called cartilage. A shark's teeth are set into its
gums. While eating, a shark often loses teeth. But, there are always rows of new teeth
growing behind the first set. As a shark loses teeth, new ones move forward to replace them.

ESSAY
Read the following text and answer the questions no.1 and 2
Once upon a time, there was a family which lived in the palace of Priangan Land. They
were happy family although a father was a dog”Tumang”, a mother was Dayang Sumbi and
a son was Sangkuriang. One day, Dayang Sumbi asked her son to hunt a deer. He went the
jungle but the fortune was not at him, He did not get a deer. He felt so bored so he decided
to kill Tumang.

After getting at home, he gave Tumang’s liver but he told that it was a deer’s liver. But
Dayang Sumbing did not believe that it was deer’s liver but Tumang’s Liver, because she
did not see Tumang at home.She was so angry so asked him to go out.

After some years later, Sangkuriang became a handsome teen. He like

travelling many places, and finally he met a beautiful woman in a village. He felt in love
with her, They loved each other and discussed bout their wedding plan. But Dayang Sumbi
was shocked after looking at his wound on his head, she was sure that he was her son,
Sangkuriang.
She tried to make him not to get marry her, she gave a wish that Sangkuriang could make a
huge ship and large lake for a night. Sangkuriang was not afraid , he tried as fast and
strong as he could. In almost the ending of the finishing, Dayang Sumbi woke up the
chicken to crow. Sangkurinag was so angry , he kicked the ship onto the lake, it became to
be a mount. It was called Tangkuban perahu mount.
