This study essentially is about “Innovation in Electric Cars of Tata”. It
studied further as to what innovation can be implemented to make the
electric car more sustainable especially for the Tata Electric Car
Automobile Industry. This study further ascertains about innovating
techniques that TATA can adopt to increase the market potential of
Electric Cars. This study also provide the insights of current market size
of Tata Motors Electric Cars, Competitors of the Tata Motors Electric
Cars, Future Planning of Tata Motors in Electric Cars Industry in India
and globally while focusing on the present market size of the Electric
Cars.
This study also provide the insights of the data and graphs of the market
size of the Electric Cars in India with special reference to the Tata Motors.
Finally, I have taken a closer look at the Consumer Relationship
Management and Consumer Behavior of the Electric Cars and have
suggested for the improvements of the Electric Cars.
Tata Motors is one of India's largest automobile manufacturers and is making

significant progress in the electric vehicle (EV) market. The company's focus on

sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint has led to the development of

several EVs that are designed to meet the needs of Indian customers.

Tata Motors launched its first EV, the Tata Tigor EV, in 2018. This compact

electric sedan offers a range of up to 142 km on a single charge and comes

with features such as fast charging and advanced safety features. The Tigor EV

has been well received by customers and has been recognized for its

practicality, reliability, and affordability.

In 2019, Tata Motors introduced the Tata Nexon EV, an all-electric compact

SUV. This vehicle boasts a range of up to 312 km on a single charge and is

equipped with advanced safety features, such as an anti-lock braking system

(ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and a pedestrian protection system. The

Tata Nexon EV has been praised for its stylish design, spacious interior, and

impressive driving range, making it a popular choice for Indian customers.

The Tata Altroz EV is the company's first electric hatchback and was introduced

in 2021. It offers a range of up to 345 km on a single charge and comes with a

host of advanced features, such as a touchscreen infotainment system, air

conditioning, and power windows. The Altroz EV has been well-received by

customers and has been praised for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and

long-range capabilities.
Tata Motors is also working on developing EVs for commercial use, such as

electric buses and electric trucks. The company has already introduced the Tata

Ultra T.7 electric truck in India and is working on other EV models for

commercial use. The Ultra T.7 is equipped with a powerful motor and a large

battery pack, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, including last-

mile delivery, food and beverage transportation, and more.

In terms of charging infrastructure, Tata Motors is working with the

government and other partners to set up charging stations across the country.

The company is also providing customers with a range of financing options and

attractive discounts to make EVs more accessible and affordable.

In conclusion, Tata Motors is one of the leading EV manufacturers in India and

is actively working towards electrifying its entire passenger vehicle portfolio

and developing EVs for commercial use. The company's EVs offer a range of

advanced features, practicality, and affordability, making them an attractive

option for Indian customers. With its focus on sustainability and reducing its

carbon footprint, Tata Motors is well-positioned to play a major role in India's

transition to electric mobility.


Tata Motors are the leading EV carmaker in the country and offer the largest

range of electric vehicles. We recently witnessed the launch of the Tiago EV,

which joins the existing range of electric vehicles. In this article, we share the

details about the existing and upcoming electric vehicles from Tata Motors.

Launched Tata Electric Cars

Here is the list of electric vehicles launched so far by Tata Motors:-

1. Tata Tiago EV

Tata Motors recently launched the Tiago EV and it’s currently India’s most-

affordable electric car. The Tiago EV is priced from Rs.8.50 lakh to Rs.11.80 lakh

ex-showroom. The electric hatchback gets a choice of 2 battery packs 19.2kWh

with a range of 250km and 24kWh with a range of 315km.


2. Tata Tigor EV

Tata Motors launched the Tigor EV in 2021 and it is the only affordable electric

sedan in the market. The Tigor EV comes with a 26 kWh battery pack that gives

it a certified range of 306km on a single charge. The Tigor EV is priced from

Rs.12.50 lakh to Rs.13.50 lakh ex-showroom. It is worth noting that the Tigor

EV is due for an update, which is likely to bring new features like variable

regenerative braking, cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

3. Tata Nexon EV Prime


Tata Nexon EV Prime is the rebadged version of the short-range Nexon EV.

Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon EV Prime with a couple of feature

additions. The Nexon EV Prime is priced from Rs.15.00 lakh to Rs.17.50 lakh ex-

showroom. The Nexon EV Prime comes with a 30.2kWh battery pack, giving it

a claimed range of 312km on a single charge. The Nexon EV Prime is an ideal

second car, considering its range and low running costs.

4. Tata Nexon EV Max

The Tata Nexon EV Max is currently the flagship electric offering from Tata

Motors. The Nexon EV Max comes with a 40.5kWh battery pack, which gives it

claimed range of 437km. Apart from the bigger battery pack, the Nexon EV

Max also gets features like electric parking brake, rear disc brakes, digital rotary

gear selector, ventilated seats and wireless phone charger. The Nexon EV Max

is priced from Rs.18.34 lakh to Rs.19.84 lakh ex-showroom. The Nexon EV could

serve as a primary vehicle if most of your commute remains within the confines

of the city.
Upcoming Tata Motors Electric Cars

Here the list of upcoming electric cars from Tata Motors:-

1. Tata Altroz EV

Tata Motors recently revealed that they have wrapped up the launches of the

Gen-1 electric vehicles. It is worth noting that while cars like the Nexon EV and

Tiago/Tigor EV were strictly engineered for internal-combustion drivetrains,

the Altroz and Punch sits on a new platform that is suitable for both ICE and

EV drivetrains.

2. Tata Punch EV
Like the Tata Altroz EV, the Punch EV could also make its debut at the 2023

Auto Expo. The Punch EV could pack a similar powertrain as the Nexon EV

Prime, but with a better range.

3. Tata Curve

Tata Motors recently took the covers off their first Gen-2 electric vehicle

concept — the Curve. Tata Curve concept boasts a coupe-esque body style and

combines it with the practicality of an SUV. Tata Motors have stated that the

Curve will go on sale as an EV first, followed by ICE-powered variants later.


The AVINYA Concept is a giant stride towards the next generation of electric

vehicles by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM). It is an expression of the

Company’s vision of a pure electric vehicle, based on its GEN 3 architecture.

Derived from the Sanskrit language, the name AVINYA stands for ‘Innovation’.

The AVINYA Concept introduces a new typology of mobility that liberates

enormous roominess and comfort, not restricted by traditional segmentation.

It comes packed with new-age technology, software and artificial intelligence

that work in the background to deliver wellness and tranquillity during transit.

Providing an extremely premium yet simple and calming customer experience,

this concept will be fairly accessible to a majority of customers of fast-growing,

high-volume segments of today. With this, TPEM is all set to unleash a new

breed of EVs that will redefine the automobile space. This path-breaking EV will

be introduced to the market by 2025.


Drawing inspiration from human sensory cues whilst promising a stress-free

experience with every drive, the AVINYA stands by the concept of minimalism

and is a leap forward in the right direction, making it the absolute regiment

of sustainable movement.

 Originally inspired by a catamaran, the AVINYA Concept is an

uncompromising vision for electric mobility.

 With a new silhouette, this concept is a mixology of the best of the worlds

– it is a product that combines the essence of a premium hatch with the

luxuries and versatility of an SUV and the roominess and functionality of

an MPV – all put together to create something new and beautiful.


 A significant highlight on the front and the rear of the vehicle is the new

identity. This new identity as a part of the DRL is a subtle nod to our

commitment to enhance the quality of life and is a pivotal step in the

evolution of EVs.

 It is also the manifesto and emphasizes the Horizon and the Infinite

possibilities that the Gen 3 electrification will offer.

 Gliding to the sides, one is met by the ‘Butterfly’ doors, which welcome

you with open arms to a class-leading spacious interior which is sure to

make its occupants feel calm.

 Furthermore, envisaging a future trend, this concept is designed to

believe that lesser screen time is the way to go.

 Taking this into consideration the AVINYA Concept has been made

screen-less, to bar any distractions inside the car and create a stress-free

environment for the mind and soul.

 Keeping the entire theme of serenity alive, this concept is showcased in

the colour - Gentle Dawn.


A PURE EV AT ITS CORE

 The AVINYA Concept stands for empathetic mobility, a machine that is

engineered to be smart, spacious, sustainable yet techy.

 The agile and robust Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture offers this concept with

a flexible design while boasting of next-generation connectivity,

advanced driver assistance systems and enhanced performance and

efficiency.

 Pioneered out of India for the world, this global platform offers high

structural safety and has the next level of waterproofing and dust

protection, making it ready for all forms of terrains.

 Use of lightweight materials, and optimized structure for an EV only

powertrain with enabled appropriate stiffness, helps minimize the overall

mass, leading to good weight management.

 The overall philosophy for enhanced range would be ‘Minimize -

Maximize - Optimize.
Tata Motors has several objectives when it comes to innovation in its electric

vehicles (EVs):

1. To Lower the running costs of vehicles

The running cost of an electric vehicle is

much lower than an equivalent petrol or

diesel vehicle. Electric vehicles use electricity

to charge their batteries instead of using

fossil fuels like petrol or diesel.

2. To Lower the maintenance cost

Electric vehicles have very low maintenance

costs because they don’t have as many

moving parts as an internal combustion

vehicle. The servicing requirements for

electric vehicles are lesser than the

conventional petrol or diesel vehicles.

3. To reduce the Zero Tailpipe Emission

Driving an electric vehicle can help you reduce

your carbon footprint because there will be

zero tailpipe emissions. You can reduce the

environmental impact of charging your

vehicle further by choosing renewable energy

options for home electricity.


4. To minimize Tax and increase Financial Benefits

Registration fees and road tax on purchasing

electric vehicles are lesser than petrol or

diesel vehicles. There are multiple policies

and incentives offered by the government

depending on which state you are in.

1. Hyundai

Hyundai started its electric vehicle campaign in India with the launch of the

Kona SUV in 2019. At the time, it was one of the first foreign brands to come

up with an electric car for the Indian market despite the segment being at its

early stages. After properly analysing the Indian EV market and factoring in

various aspects, the South Korean car manufacturer is said to launch 6 new

electric cars across various price points by 2028. It plans on making this

possible with its sister brand, Kia Motors where both companies will share

resources and target different kinds of audiences in the market.


2. MG

British automotive company MG (Morris Garage) has been impressive in India’s

EV market. Per a report, the company is the best EV OEM in the country, after

TATA, with 8.32 percent market share. This is creditable, given that MG has only

a single EV on sale versus TATA’s two. Looking at the considerable demand for

its EV, the OEM is aiming to expand its portfolio.

3. Mahindra

Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited is an electric vehicle venture under the

Mahindra Group. The company has several EVs in its portfolio including
commercial, personal and passenger vehicles. Being a prominent player in the

automotive sector for a couple of decades just like Tata Motors, Mahindra

Electric has made fast progress by quickly understanding the need for

electricity-run vehicles and taking action accordingly.

3. Tesla

Tesla is an electric vehicle manufacturer and clean energy company led by

billionaire Elon Musk. Tesla is also the biggest seller of plug-in electric vehicles;

its Model 3 sedan, which debuted in 2017, is the world’s all-time bestselling

plug-in EV, having sold more than 800,000 before the start of 2021. In 2020,

the company sold its 1 millionth car, a milestone for Tesla, which was founded

in 2003 as Tesla Motors. Through its subsidiary Tesla Energy, the company

manufactures and distributes solar panels, solar roof tiles, and other related

products and services.


A SWOT analysis is a tool used to identify the strengths, weaknesses,

opportunities, and threats of a business. Here is a SWOT analysis of Tata

Motors' innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) market:

 Strong Brand: Tata Motors has a strong brand reputation, which could

help to drive sales of its EVs.

 Wide Range of Products: Tata Motors offers a wide range of EVs, including

Tata Avinya concept: Exterior, Interior and Platform details

Looking at the Tata Avinya, it’s clear that it's a purpose-built EV from the

proportions and dimensions. The Avinya is Tata’s Gen-3 EV architecture, which

is based around the battery and electric motors, allowing the carmaker to push

out the wheels to the far corners and maximise the cabin space.

On the design front, the Avinya has a very distinct and minimalistic look, with

extremely short front and rear overhangs that only help accentuate the long

wheelbase. Up front, there is a full width LED light bar that is designed to

resemble a stretched out 'T' logo, along with a uniquely lit solid grille section,

slim headlight and smartly styled front splitter.

In profile, there is a strong shoulder line that runs the length of the car and

ends at the floating section of the tail-light, accompanied by Rolls Royce-esque

doors and a glass roof and blacked-out. A pillars that provide a floating roof

effect. At the rear end, the sleek full width tail-light mimics the look of the front

light bar and extends beyond the sculpted bodywork also giving it a floating

effect.

Inside, there is a clean and very minimalist look to the cabin. There is no central

infotainment screen on the dash; instead it has a slim, well-integrated screen

in the dashboard above the sound bar, along with a new steering wheel that

has an integrated screen for all the other information and controls. The far ends
of the dash also have a screen to show the feed from the wing-mounted rear

view cameras.

There is seating for up to five people with a plenty of legroom in both the rear

bench style seats and the modern bucket seats up front that can swivel. Tata
