Training Methodology
Laurie provides you with a blend of academic concepts and practical
tools gained from his research at the University of Queensland and
his 30 years of experience in engineering and management roles of
complex engineering and transformation projects. This course
includes key concepts, case studies and hands-on exercises with
audience participation. Practical tips and tools will be provided so
that after the program ends you can take the concept to reality.
Laurie Bowman is passionate about generating value for shareholders and communities through
project planning and stakeholder engagement. He is an advisor and accredited trainer with Synchrony
Projects, where his focus is on working with clients to achieve capability improvement in project
planning, risk and performance management resulting in successful project, program, portfolio and
organisation outcomes.
Laurie has 30 years of experience in engineering and management roles on complex multidiscipline
engineering and construction projects and facilitates training and certification preparation workshops
on project planning, risk, stakeholder and performance management for projects, programs and
portfolios. Complimenting his technical skills, Laurie is currently serving as Director at Large with PMI
Queensland and has previously served on the board of the Association for the Advancement of Cost
Engineering (AACE) International as the International Director for Australasia and Pacific Rim. He is a
chartered engineer, has been awarded as an engineering executive and is a master practitioner of
Neuro Linguistic Programming. He is a member of the Standards Australia technical committee for
many Portfolio and Project Management standards on project planning, risk and performance
management. He is a graduate of the AICD Company Directors course, has a master's degree in
business administration, a master’s degree in commercial law, a bachelor's degree in engineering
and has undertaken extensive study in the fields of risk management and systems leadership.
