Scope and Purpose :- ProQuest is committed

innovative information content and technologies increase the
productivity of students, scholars, professionals and the libraries
that serve them.

Coverage :- It includes the world's largest collection of

dissertations and thesis; 20 million pages and three centimes or

global, national, regional and specialty newspapers; more than
4,50,000 e-Books; rich aggregated collections of the world's most
important scholarly journals and periodicals; and unique vaults of
digitized historical collections from great libraries and museums, as
well as organization.

Treatment :-
Basic search across all ProQuest platform databases with the
Basic Search. You can search All source types or choose to limit
your search by a source type such as Scholarly Journals, Videos &
Audio, Dissertations & Theses, Books and others that are available
through the More menu.

Additionally, you can limit your search to items containing Full

text from ProQuest and Peer Reviewed items to only find
documents reviewed by subject matter experts.

Advanced search Use the Advanced Search to create a more

structured query, searching across different fields. Enter your
search term, then use the pull-down menus to the right to select
the search fields you want to target, and between each row select
Boolean operators to connect your search terms.

For a listing, description, and examples of how to format a search

using field codes indexed in ProQuest databases, please visit
the Searchable fields page of this guide.

Exact phrase:- Look for your exact search term in its entirety.
Used primarily for searching specific fields, like Subject. For
instance, a search on su.exact("higher education"), will return
documents with a subject term of "higher education", but not
documents with a subject term of "higher education funding".

Wild card search :- The wildcard character in ProQuest is the

question mark (?)--used to replace any single character, either
inside or at the right end of a word. A word in your search term
can include one or more question marks to represent one or more
characters.Example:-nurse?
Finds: nurse, nurses, and nursed.
Truncation :- The truncation character in ProQuest is an asterisk
(*)--used to replace up to five characters. For example, a search
for farm* will retrieve documents with the terms farm, farms,
farmer, or farming. You can include the truncation character
within a word in your search term, f*rm, or at the end of a
word, (farm*).

Subject search with thesauri :-With a thesaurus open, you can:

 Search for subject terms
 Browse all subject terms
 Add one or more subject terms to your search

options such as Subject , publication date , recent publications
etc.
