1.1 Background

Cash Flow is the increase or decrease in the amount of money a business, institution or
individuals has, In finance the term is used to describes the amount of cash (Currency)
that is generated or consumed in a given time period.
Cash Flow from investing activities would include the outflow of cash for long term assets
such as land, buildings, equipment, etc. and the inflows from the sale of assets, business,
securities, etc. Most cash flow investing activities are cash flows because most entities
make long term investments for operations and future growth.
Cash flow from finance activities is the cash flow to the entities investors (i.e. interest to
bondholders) and shareholders (i.e. dividends and stock buybacks) and cash inflows from
sales of bonds or issuance of stock equity. Most cash flow finance activities are cash
outflows since most entities only issue bonds and stocks occasionally.

1.1.2 Profile, events and activities

Mega Bank Limited


Mega bank is the second highest (in the basis of paid up capital) commercial bank in
Nepal. The bank is an ‘A’ class commercial bank licensed By Nepal Rastrya Bank and has
branches all across the nation with its head office in Kathmandu which provides entire
commercial banking services.

With an Authorized Capital of NPR 15 Billion, Issued Capital of NPR 14.65 Billion and Paid-
Up Capital of NPR 14.65 Billion, Mega Bank Nepal Limited is one of the premier Financial
Institution of Nepal consistently living it’s Service Pledge to conduct business by
continually creating mutually beneficial relationship with all its stakeholders: Customers,
Shareholders, Regulators, Communities and Staff. The Bank realize that its success is

Siddhartha Bank Limited
Siddhartha Bank is one of the largest private commercial bank in Nepal. bank is an ‘A’
class commercial bank licensed by Nepal Rastrya Bank and has 180 branches all across the
nation with its head office in Kathmandu which provides entire commercial banking
services and remittance services.
Siddhartha Bank Limited (SBL) established in 2002 and promoted by prominent
personalities of Nepal, today stands as one of the consistency growing banks in Nepal.
While the promoters come from a wide range of sectors, they possess immense business
acumen and share their valuable experiences towards the betterment of the Bank. Within
a short span of time, Siddhartha Bank has been able come up with a wide range of
products and services that best suits its clientele. Siddhartha Bank has been posting
growth in its portfolio size and profitability consistently since the beginning of its
operations. The management of the Bank has been thoroughly professional.

1.1 Statement of Problem


Every forms of work have its own statement of problem. In contest of this report, it faced
many research questions the questions are as follows:
 How to measure Cash Flow from Operating Activities?
 How to measure Cash Flow from Investing Activities?
 How to measure Cash Flow from Financing Activities?
 What are relationship between cash inflows and outflows?
1.2 Objective of study
The main objective of the study is to analyze the Mega Bank Ltd and Siddhartha Bank Ltd cash
flows statement. To achieve this primary objective are considered in this study:
 To analyze Cash Flow from Operating Activities.
 To analyze Cash Flow from Investing Activities.
 To analyze Cash Flow from Financing Activities.
 What are relationship between cash inflows and outflows?

1.3 Significance of the Study

Bank plays a vital role for the economic development of the country. Lack of cash is one the
biggest reason of business fail. Cash flow statement indicate the positions and financial
structure of bank. The analysis over the presented data will be helpful to know the financial
position of bank. the report also contains strength and weakness of Mega Bank and
Siddhartha Bank.
1.4 Review of Literature

Review of literature refers to the study of previous research and document to find out the
study gap from the review of literature, Review of literature means reviewing research studies
or other related proposition in the related areas if the study so that all the past studies their
conclusions and deficiencies may be known and further research can be conducted. Review of
literature has been divided in two parts:
 Conceptual Framework
 Review of previous work
1.5 Research Methodology

Research methodology is the description of the procedures followed while collecting the
necessary data and information needed for the research work. It refers how the data is
collected and which source the researcher has used for getting data.
This study is conducted in the basis of secondary data, secondary source of data have been
used by the study to collect the information about the banks.
1.6 Limitation of the Study
This study is simply conducted for the partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of
the bachelor in business studies (BBS). And only the secondary data is used and analyzed
which could not disclose the actual result. And being the first endeavor, the report cam
comprise some mistakes which may cause to the other limitation of the study is listed below:
 Mostly secondary data have been analyzed while preparing this report.
 The study is not able to collect information from the primary sources.
 Data contains mostly of the annuals reports of the bank.

1.7 Reports Structure


Chapter 1: Introduction
 This chapter contains the background of the study, statement of problems objective of
the study, significance of the study, review if literature research methodology and
limitation of the study.
Chapter 2: Results and Findings
 This chapter contains the results and finding of the study that are obtained by using
statistical, graphical and financial tools.
Chapter 3: Summary and Conclusion
 This Chapter contains the summary and conclusion of the study.
