● Secondary Beneficiaries

The prime beneficiaries of this project will be teenagers ages 14 to16 years
old who are most likely high school students. This project will help them acquire
self-awareness, self-acceptance, and values development. This will also help
increase their comradeship and ameliorate their social skills through interactive
activities. Through symposiums, the participants will familiarize themselves in
different types of mental disorders and gain an understanding of how to prevent it.
What’s more is that they can be taught managing their emotions, decision-making
skills, problem solving, and conflict resolutions.

The parents will also benefit from this project in a way that they can have
a better relationship with their children. Also, this project can help the parents of
the participant to reduce the possibilities of mental illness around the family such
as stress and depression.
IX. Rationale of the project

“Kumusta ka na, Kaibigang Daligueña?” is a mental health awareness

program for teenagers ages 14 to 16 years old to promote socio-emotional
learning and psychological well-being for them to have a proper and healthy
teenage development. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness about the
mental health continuum and to promote help seeking behaviors and emotional
well-being practices.
Based on research, mental illness such as depression, starts at the age of
14. This project will help the participants to acknowledge the importance of
mental health and to break the mental health stigma that leaves so many people
suffering in secret.
Based on my experience and observation, Mental health is still a stigma
around the community of Barangay Dalig, and with the growing population,
adolescents are the common victim of these inaccurate stereotypes. With that, this
project will be an eye-opener for them, and I think that mental health care should
be what they are learning and practicing in this time of pandemic.
The project intends to raise awareness, educate, and promote mental health
to adolescents in the community. The project team will make sure that the
participants will benefit greatly, and the team will make sure that the information
that we will be sharing will be approved and checked by a professional.

● This are the community that we are aiming to participate in our program
● This is the list of the programs and activities accomplished by the SK Council
for 3 years. Mental health awareness only happens once a year during “Linggo
ng Kabataan”.

● Convincing and discussing my plans for the program to my friends and cousin

XI. Description of the project

“Kumusta ka na, Kaibigang Daligueña” is a mental health awareness
campaign which aims to raise awareness about mental health as well as to
destigmatize mental illness issues and to teach the participant, ages 14 to 16
years old of Barangay Dalig, the importance of mental health and self-care.
Living in this community for 18 years, the stigma about mental health
issues never changes. There is a Mental Health Awareness Program every
year, during Linggo ng Kabataan, but it happens online and once a year. Not
every person has the opportunity to watch live sessions online and we need to
keep reminding people how important mental health is, especially during this
time of pandemic. Furthermore, there are stories and news around the
community about people running away from home, teenagers who are
rebelling against their parents, and the most disturbing of them all is there are
few cases of suicide in the barangay, and no one bothers to talk about it.
In this time of pandemic, Mental health is as important as physical health.
This program aims to help those people who suffer in secret and to open the
eyes of the youth about these issues.
The person who associated this project is Niel Franz M. Maderazo,
with the assistance of Guidance Teachers of Batangas States University, The
SK Council, and his friends. The project requires parent permission, the SK
official permit, and partnership with a professional psychologist/guidance
teacher.

XII. Strategies and methods of implementation

The proponents will first distribute brochures containing information about
mental health and a summary of the objective of the project. Also, the
proponent will prepare symposiums about the mental health awareness topics
that will be discussed to the participants. They will also organize activities
that will not only focus on mental exercises but also activities that will benefit
their psychological, spiritual, and physical aspects. Games are also provided
to maintain the activeness and motivation of the participants each session. The
associates of the administrator will act as an assistant and facilitator. Also, the
SK Council will help in providing safety protocols and rules. Together with
the with the guidance teachers and professional psychologist, they will be the
guest speakers who will discuss the topics assigned each week about mental
health.

At the end of the project, we will provide certificates of participation and a

small token of appreciation to those participants who consistently participated
and attended the program.

To achieve the expectations of the project, there are certain process to be

followed in each session:

1. Youth Encouragement
- Before the event happen, the proponent and his
subordinates will invite the youth around the barangay by
going house to house and by distributing brochures
containing the information about the objective of the
program. This will serve as the invitation for the program

Example:

2. Guidelines and Health Protocols

- The administrator, alongside with his associates, and the
SK Council will implement proper health protocol before
entering the school. We will make sure that the participants
are vaccinated (considering their age) and will wear face
mask throughout the session. Every week, Guidelines will
be discussed before starting the session.

3. Lectures, and Activities

- After discussing the guidelines, the lecture will begin with
a prayer, followed by an ice breaker. Every week, there will
be an assign guest speaker who will discuss a certain topic
about mental health. Activities are provided to monitor the
participants' cooperation. Also, Break time are given to
give the participants the chance to rest.

4. Games
- There are prepared games or activities for the participant
for them to fully enjoy the program. There are associates
who will facilitate the games and The SK Council will
monitor the participant’s safety.

5. Snack Time/Sharing
- At the end of the meeting, the facilitators will provide
snacks for the participants to refresh after 2 hours of
session and as a token of appreciation in attending and
cooperating with the program. The Proponent will call 3
participants to share about the lessons they learned and
their realizations throughout the session. After that, we will
end the meeting with a prayer.
