Zibo Mod Checklist - Training Checklist
Zibo Mod Checklist - Training Checklist
Zibo Mod Checklist - Training Checklist
~~~
Version C-0027, 24 January 2023
~~~
This guide is based on my previous checklist” but updated and even more refined for flight
sim use while introducing more real world procedures from the FCOM (2019) as well as real
737 pilot’s contributions.
This means that I have adapted actual real world procedures and sometimes, slightly
redesigned some of them, to satisfy the single pilot operations in XP11 without losing too
much authenticity. It simply is not realistic to expect it to work 100% as in the real world and
you are most welcome to adapt this guide to suit your own SOP’s
Whatever you do, please do not use this for real world operations and please do not fight
about it. You might actually just have a different SOP than the next guys and you might also
be correct… just saying :)
Please also note that walk around procedures are not included and some actions that you
need to take have been placed specifically, to trigger the appropriate FMOD sounds.
Lastly, this checklist is based upon the default state that Zibo gives the aircraft to us. Any
switches that you set differently, changing the default state is not covered by this document
~~~
Special thanks goes to Jorge, Tim & Zibo plus AudioBird,Mathieu Matéø Menegoz & Pilot
Saso without whom this project would simply not have been possible. The FCOM and
Operations Guide were helpful too.
Thank you to all my followers as well. You guys make the effort worthwhile for me.
Basic information, notices & requirements
1) In order to enjoy the Zibo mod to the fullest, you need to install and calibrate it
properly. The information is contained in my installation guide via my private hangar,
see link below.
2) Starting the flight and loading the Zibo, at this time, it is best to start with the default
C172 first and then change the aircraft while at the gate AND after the C172 loaded
and XP11 stopped loading the scenery and other add-ons and scripts. It is a
temporary procedure and you will be notified when this is no longer required.
3) Failures are not covered in this guide yet
4) Pro tip: Hypoxia is not a failure in the Zibo code. You get it if you did not configure the
pressurization system correctly. By following this guide it will not happen to you.
5) In terms of the Center Fuel Tanks
- Zibo currently supports automatic failover to the wing tanks once the center
fuel tanks run dry.
- You need to switch the center fuel pumps off, once the low pressure pump
warning comes on.
- I have three different FCOM’s available to me, one from 1997, 2008 and one
from 2014. Each has 7 different minimum fuel values for center tanks during
different phases of the flight. I see no point in simulating each one while
neither XP11 nor Zibo does. I therefore include basic procedures only.
6) Fuel imbalance must not exceed 453 kgs for taxi, takeoff, flight or landing.
7) Engine Start Switch - FLT is used in high turbulence or high water ingestion
conditions
APU Start Procedures
Skip this section if you will use the Air Starter Unit, later in this document
APU Switch to ON
- Verify Low Oil Pressure Light CHECK and wait 3 seconds
APU Switch START
- The APU is fitted with a fuel pump to be used for short periods of time
- If extended periods of operation is required, one of the AC powered fuel pumps
must be switched on (Left Fwd as example)
- If fuel is loaded in the center tanks, the left center tank fuel pump switch must
be ON to prevent a fuel imbalance before takeoff
* Wait until APU is available (+- 35 seconds) *
APU Generators (Both) On
Disconnect the Ground Power Unit Completed
Take-off and Flight Configuration
VNAV On
LNAV for SID / HDG for Vectored departure On
* This is a test, if you have a SID departure, from the runway and not using vectors
during departure, these lights will illuminate to prove you did your basic config
correctly. If they do not arm you need to fix your config before departure ;)
* For vectored or hand flow departure simply arm HDG on runway heading and add
15kts or 20kts to V2 (according to your SOP). At 1,000ft, LVL CH will activate and you
will be able to bug the speed up and enable CMD A when you are ready for it.
Altimeter
- PFD - Set Altimeter / QNH As Required
- Standby Altimeter As Required
13
Before Pushback Procedures
Use The PA System on the Zibo Tablet to welcome the passengers onboard
Taxi Briefing Completed
* If you want to use the Air Starter Unit to start the aircraft, you have to connect it now *
DO NOT start the pushback until engine 1 is running. See the ASU start procedure below
If the Centre Fuel Tank fuel quantity exceeds 1,100Lbs / 460Kg (as per FCOM)
Center Fuel Pumps On
- Verify LOW PRESSURE lights extinguished Verified
- If the LOW PRESSURE lights stays illuminated,
turn the pumps OFF Verified
14
Engine Start Procedure with APU
This is the “normal” start procedure, skip if you will use the ASU
Left & Right Pack OFF
. For Engine Start with the APU - APU must be running for more than 2 minutes .
Engine #2 usually starts first UNLESS your SOP says differently
For De-Ice Operations, complete the push back as normal, but without engine
start and then follow the De-Icing procedures for Engine Start-up
15
Engine Start Procedure with Air Starter Unit / Cross Bleed Start
Do not attempt this with the APU running!
On the tablet - Connect the Air Starter Unit Completed
ATC - Report Ready for Start and when Ready for Pushback after Start (Optional)
17
Engine & Wing Anti Ice Usage
18
De-ice Procedures (Basic - For simmers)
This process needs to be completed at or below 0 ºC (32°F) and at or below the dew point
AND after push back
.Option 1 - After Push Back, Before Taxi & Engine Start.
Basic “NON-FCOM” procedure
On the Tablet - Start De-Icing Checked
This application of the Type IV deicing fluid will give you 45 minutes to depart otherwise you
will have to re-do the procedure. It runs for approximately 3 minutes.
*** The procedure will stop automatically when completed ***
19
De-ice Procedures (Advanced)
This process needs to be completed at or below 0 ºC (32°F) and at or below the dew point
.Option 2 - At the De-Ice Bay. -- .Advanced FCOM based procedure.
...Assuming that the engines are running…
…Switch Wing & Engine Anti-Ice = OFF…
APU must be OFF unless required CHECKED
- If not required, the APU should be shut down to eliminate the possibility of deicing fluid entering the
APU inlet
** As the FCOM requires Engine Anti Ice to be switched on after engine start and does not specify it
to be turned off before the de-icing commences, you may implement your own SOP in this regard.
20
Before Take-off Procedure (Normal)
Wing Lights (For Departure Announcement) On
- You can turn it off in the day, after the announcement is made
Landing Lights On
Runway Turnoff Lights As Required
Taxi Lights OFF
Position Lights Strobe & Steady
Weather Radar On
Terrain Radar As required
Taxi into position then proceed to 40% N1 and then TO/GA CHECK
21
Additional Runway Entry Procedures
(Short Field / Above 10,000ft) Very important for simulating real world operations
Right Pack Switch Auto
Isolation Valve Switch Close
Left Pack Switch Auto
Left Engine Bleed (Engine #1) OFF
APU Bleed Switch ON
Right Engine Bleed (Engine #2) OFF
The WAI switches will automatically move to the OFF position during Takeoff.
This reduces engine bleed loads and conserves thrust for climb
Engine Anti-Ice Switches
- With visible moisture and icing conditions
- Not below -40°C As Required
Wing Anti-Ice Switches
- Only below 35,000ft when extra power is not required
- Do not keep them on or ice will build around them
2 minutes to 5 minutes at a time should be enough As Required
Some useful information for the descent and landing phases
Calculating Transition Flight Level from Known QNH
QNH TL/TFL
QNH < 977hPa = TA + 2500
977hPa <= < 995hPa = TA + 2000
995hPa <= < 1013hPa = TA + 1500
= 1013hPa = TA + 1000
Approach Configuration Tips
ILS APP Button = Yes, MCP ALT = FAF ALT
VOR DME with IAN APP Button = Yes, MCP ALT = FAF ALT
RNAV with IAN APP Button = Yes, MCP ALT = FAF ALT
The following Approach types require correct input into the MMR;
- ILS, GLS
- Glide Slope (in the FMC) = Yes
(It is automatically set correctly when you select the approach)
The following Approach types do NOT require any input into the MMR;
- VOR DME, LNAV/VNAV and RNAV when using IAN.
- You may enter the VOR frequency as a visual aid.
- Please make sure that no ILS frequency is active in the NAV Radios or MMR
when you fly these approaches
-
29
Approach & Landing Considerations
(You may use your own SOP)
Acceptable practices after the correct ILS is identified on the approach
1. ATC clears you to intercept the localizer (implies no vertical clearance for descent
given) you may press VOR LOC to have the aircraft intercept and track the localizer.
2. ATC clears you to intercept the ILS (implies that vertical clearance for descent is
given) you may press APP to have the aircraft intercept and track the localizer and
glide slope.
Interesting Facts
1. When doing an ILS approach, if you select the APP mode before reaching your final
approach speed or being fully established (VOR/LOC & GS Green), you will have to
bug the speed (via the MCP) down yourself, until you reach Vref+5 or whatever yours
will be for your situation.
2. With an RNAV or RNP Approach, if you leave it in LNAV/VNAV, then you will get
automatic speed bug reduction with each Flaps selection through the final profile until
reaching your landing flaps configuration
The Touchdown Zone is the first 900m / 3,000ft of the runway or first half
of the length of the runway whichever is shorter.
