As we prepare for the severe weather moving into the region, we are making several
recommendations to reduce the negative consequences of the storm. This storm is
projected to bring a potential accumulation of six inches of ice, with potential hazards
including widespread power outages as ice and snow accumulate on trees and power
lines as well as treacherous travel conditions
Arneson s Argument Of Degradation Of The Surrogate
Anderson s second argument is that of degradation of the surrogate. This thinking may be
true in some cases, but not all. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a
hatchery. Again, Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and
projecting them as docile and incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract
without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this assertion by asking the question why is it
permissible for a womanto act as a surrogate for a friend or familymember (Altruistic
Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation (Commercial Surrogacy), it
becomes morally unacceptable. Arneson s point that the exchange of money for the
service of surrogacy does not make the practice intrinsically harmful,... Show more

Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and
opportunity surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services
that are normally not accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted
her position and stated that the practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to
view surrogacy as ethical work that needs regulation in order not to exploit the women
and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given the right to organize in labor
unions and negotiate with the intended parents.
Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so
that people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She
proposed an international model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on
three fronts: in the structure of payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships
forged within surrogacy.
CONCLUSION:
Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements
devalue children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well
designed regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of
surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal society
in response to an issue on which no societal consensus
Personal Narrative-Magnet School
On January 8, 2001, I was born as the 5th child of Antonio Ramirez and Angelica
Prieto. Due to assimilation in western countries, cultural names will bring prejudice
associations, I was named Britney Trish Ramirez. I was born the youngest of two
brothers, Anthony and Neil, and two sisters, Angelica and Ascencion. Although I was
born in Dallas, Texas, my parents who are Mexican immigrants, raised us speaking
Spanish and in Mexican culture. Growing up, we lived (and currently live) in Oak
Cliff. At around age 3, I went to pre school, at a charter school named Mi Escuelita. My
first friends were my teachers; they always... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I enrolled and then attended. During middle school, I became conscious about social
issues in the world. This caused me to see things differently, which did end up in me
losing friends. In seventh grade, my grandmother who was a mother to me, passed away
from terminal cancer. It was another hard loss for my family and me. In eighth grade I
applied to five schools but only got into two, ESSM and Mountainview Early College.
I decided to come here since this school has more experience. It wasn t my choice high
school, but I am still glad I get to come to a magnet school. On August 24, 2015, I
started high school. With an uncertain future ahead of me, I entered the school with a
mindset towards greatness. At first, I was sad about starting high school because it
meant I was getting closer to becoming an adult, but now I am just scared of not being
at the top of my class, not getting into my choice universities/colleges, and not getting
really high scores on my SAT/ACT, PSAT, and AP exams. I still
My Experience In Middle School
I knew that it would take some time to establish myself. While I was new to the
community, I believed I would and could be successful with some work. After all, I
had done so well in middle school. And then it happened; I entered the campus filled
with energy as I walked into the big brown building. It appeared to be so extravagant,
standing tall and surrounded by the bare trees. I knew what I was capable of and I told
myself, Don t let anyone get in the way . As the first bell rung, I was worried. I took my
seat at 8:15 and I already began to lose my focus. I stared at all the new faces although I
had yet to learn the names of my new peers. My staringcontest was interrupted by a sheet
of paper on my desk. It hauntingly said SYLLABUS.
New Girl became my name for the next couple of months, as nobody knew what else
to call me. My nickname over time seemed to be a pleasant shortcut rather than a label,
but it began to affect the way I was treated. When a teacher asked a math question,
initially my confidence shot up, but quickly fell as the class in unison flashed a
confused look in my direction. I then heard comments such as What is she talking
about. and That s so weird. filling the air of the room. I sighed in relief, as the teacher
told me I was correct, but slipped under the desk as I was told it was not something
taught at the school. I was directed to learn a whole different way of learning, a major
shift in the way I was taught for the majority of my
Genie Play Monologue
In my younger years I was highly involved in show choir and school productions. Any
way I could get on stage and strut my stuff I would take it. My sixth grade year of
elementary school, the year before I would make the massive leap into middle school,
I decided I would perform in my final production. The play was Aladdin and I had my
eye on the role for the Genie and I wanted this role so much. I practiced this role day
and night from singing to dancing to even some impressions anything that would ensure
my little mind that I would get the part. A week and half goes by and it s time for
tryouts and I was beyond nervous. Anytime someone even mention the tryouts my body
would tremble and quake. I didn t know why I was so nervous I mean I had
Shakespeare s Influence On The Renaissance
The renaissance was both affected by and had affects on the art of its time and later
on. Whether this art be in the form of paintings or literature it clearly shows today how
the renaissance had taken time to affect everything around it. While some pieces of art
from this time period are as simple as a piece of canvas and some color in the form of
pigment, they have stood the test of time and held up not only as beautiful images for
us to see, but also as devices to give us a window into the minds of those long past.
This is exactly the kind of thing done today when looking at artwork such as the Mona
Lisa or even more so when reading one of the many pieces of Shakespearian literature,
Macbeth specifically.

Starting with the aftermath of the renaissance, Shakespeare was one of the most
ingenious writers of his time and still is today, being able to write play s that stand
their ground centuries later, think of as many writers with that effect as you can and
if you reach ten without Shakespeare I ll applaud you. Not many artists have art that
is known as well as Shakespeare and those that do deserve their spots just as
Shakespeare himself. Starting with Macbeth as our only needed example on the
literature written The time period that the story takes place in is that of the renaissance
time period being based in Scotland. The story revolves around a thane who, by the
controlling will of his wife, kills his king to take his place and takes the lives of those
who could take
Essay On The Cuban Embargo
The United States and Cuba s relationship has always been very volatile and open to
change. Since the early twentieth century, the two countries have been close but
separated at the same time. For a country that is as close as it is to the U.S., Cuba
couldn t be has isolated. Now this relationship wasn t always bad, but do to the policy
decisions of both countries they have a rocky relationship. In recent times, the United
Stateshas begun rethinking its harsh policy against the small island nation. In this essay, I
will explain the history of the embargo, the issues with it, and what the future looks like
for both countries. The Cuban Embargo has been ineffective at spreading democracy,
solving human rights issues, and has harmed the economy,... Show more content on

The United States responded by placing a trade embargo on everything but food and
medicine. This would be extended in the future to all products by John F. Kennedy.
(BBC) The U.S. obviously wasn t happy with the idea of losing control, so they backed a
revolt called the Bay of Pigs Invasion. This serious failure created an even bigger gap
between the U.S and Cuba. It wasn t long that the Cubans were being backed by the
Soviets and eventually housing Soviet weapons. The housing of Soviet weapons brought
the world the closest it has ever been to all out nuclear war. The Cold War was in its
height and Cuba had become a part of it. However, as an article by lecturer Marc
William Palen points out, the embargo is more than a cold war issue. The embargo was
set due to a plethora of issues including the want to colonize and control Cuba which
started in the early twentieth century. According to Palen, there are several key factors in
the embargo. He points some of those out in this quote. More specifically, the Cuban
embargo is a modern day manifestation of the Republican party s longstanding
imperialism of economic nationalism. (Palen) Everybody assumes the embargo is purely
about the cold war, however
