Livemocha -The site offers free language lessons, opportunities to chat with native
speakers and other helpful resources.
Busuu - Language learners who join this free language community can practice their skills
with other people around the world. Busuu also provides interactive lessons for learning
English, Spanish, German, French and Italian.
My Happy Planet - My Happy Planet is a user-driven community that makes it easy to find a
language learning partner. Members are also encouraged to upload videos and post their
own language and culture lessons.
Green and Civic Learning Communities
MakeMeSustainable - MakeMeSustainable is a community of people who are concerned
about their environmental impact. Community members can calculate their carbon footprint
and learn how to take action to reduce it.
SocialVibe - This social community has helped to raise nearly $1 million for various causes.
Community members can choose the cause they are passionate about and then help spread
the word through Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Blogger, and other social media
properties.
Change.org - This online learning community raises awareness about important causes and
encourages members to participate through petitions and other actions.
Scientific and Academic Learning Communities
ResearchGate- Is the professional network for scientists and researchers. It helps
researchers connect and make it easy for them to share and access scientific output,
knowledge, and expertise. It was founded in 2008 by Ijad Madisch is a German virologist,
founder, and CEO of the research network ResearchGate. But take note that ResearchGate
is not a publisher and does not accept articles or papers for publication. Rather, members
can track their publications, store private copies, and make their published or unpublished
work publicly available on ResearchGate - if they have the rights to do so.
Pronetos- is a social network for scholars–a way for professors to meet others in the same
discipline, to publish articles online, to get feedback and reviews, and to get work published.
One of the most obvious reasons to join this network is simply to network and meet other
people who are ostensibly interested in reading and reviewing (or commenting on) your
work. Chris Blanchard, CEO, and founder of Pronetos. Chris is a history graduate student at
BSU and also received his undergraduate history degree from BSU. He is computer-smart,
energetic, and full of great ideas.
Academia.edu- is a social networking platform for academics. Its mission is to provide a
system for scientists to share their results, independently of the current journal system. The
founder of Academia.edu is Richard Prince. Academia.edu is to accelerate the world's
research. Their goal is to speed up research in every domain - finding a solution to climate
change; finding cures for diseases; evolving artificial intelligence. They want to accelerate
research in all these fields, and others too.
Education-Related Learning Community
TeacherTube- is an online community for sharing instructional videos, educational videos,
and other teaching resources. It was founded in 2007 by Jason Smith, a former educator
who saw the need for a safe and educational alternative to YouTube.
We The Teachers- is a community of educators that aims to provide a platform for teachers
to connect with each other, share their experiences, and learn from each other.
TeachAde- TeachAde is a social network for educators. Members can find and share lesson
plans, audio, video, and other multimedia resources.
LearnHub- LearnHub is home to many different online communities for students and lifelong
learners. Some of the most popular communities focus on studying abroad, standardized
test prep, languages, social sciences, and mathematics.
GradeGuru- Created for college students, this free knowledge sharing network makes it
easy for students to share and find class-specific notes. Members can also utilize
GradeGuru's free study materials and academic tools.
Connexions- This Rice University site allows members to contribute learning modules and
study modules that have been created by other people.

subject, degree path, or featured courses, and learn from the world’s best experts in various
fields 1. It is a great resource for anyone who wants to learn something new or improve their
skills.

This app is available on all apple devices, so you can access it wherever you are. The idea
behind its concept is to make your life as a student easier. iHOMEWORK 2 is a planner app
for iOS and Mac that helps kids keep track of their schoolwork. First, students set up an
account and set up their classes and teachers' names. Then, students can start to enter
assignments and calendar entries, tagging their entries with classes, teachers, and topics
along the way. They can also tag entries by difficulty, allowing students to think strategically
about their assignments and the kind of time and effort it might take to complete them.
Students can sort their assignments by any tag or enter Planner view to see upcoming
assignments sorted by due date and sync their accounts across multiple Apple devices,
including the Apple Watch, iOS, and Mac. Though it's free to download, it requires a
subscription for full access.

The content offered on this website is not only useful for your school project, but your
personal intellectual development as well. Open Culture delivers content from many different
topics, from writing tips and literature characters to world history and wars. Open Culture is a
free hub that lists all the available online digital learning resources that the web has to offer
for educational purposes. Launched in 2006, it is the brainchild of Stanford dean Dan
Coleman. The original idea was to create a single point on the internet that lists the many
educational resources available online for free. Since then, this has obviously grown
massively, yet thanks to a team of editors the site is kept updated with lots of useful
educational resources. From free audio recordings to K-12 specific material, there is plenty
from which to pick.
