1. Introduction

1.1 Feature

FT-
FT- 210 Series Flow Transmitter receives signals from the flow sensor and
measures on going flow rate and displays flow rate, the total and accumulated
total.

It is connected either to frequency output-

output- type flow sensor. This flow
transmitter use
use two relays(Option) to function flow alarm, and can add 4-
4- 20mA
analog output as option.

It changes the signals of flow sensor to the scale pulse before outputting so
that other devices can be connected outside to count and display the
information
necessary informati on in distance.

The LCD display on the front is very convenient to use with a variety of
parameters and instructions available to see easily on it. The keys in the front
are also easy for you to select and read necessayr information, and anyone
can program their own values easily on the spot.

The user-
user- set data and the accumulated totals are stored in the eeprom and are
safe for ten years regardless of power-
power- off.

3.2 Input Connection

Input signals are determined to the type of flow meter. So the dual in- in- line
package
pack age switches should be set accordingly. Open collector type is the default
signal when shipping the order.

When the flow sensor needs power, it can be connected to terminal # 1 which
releases DC voltage.

3.3 Relay Output

Two relays are provided to control the external devices. The maximum
switching capacity under control
control is 250VAC@5A or 30VDC@5A. However, it is
recommeded that you use a separate outside relay even though it is usable
within that capacity. It is normally set in open contact by default and the
connection is as shown below.

5
3.4 Pulse Output
It’
It’ s internal circuit is the open collector-
collector- type which is why caution should be
taken when connectiong, as it won’ won’ t function with wrong polar connections.
The width of output pulse is selectable among 10ms, 50ms and 100ms. 10ms
is as shown
shown below, in which case the maximum pulse output is 49pulses per
second. It is 50mA@30VDC current sink type output so it needs to outsource
the power and also needs the current limit impedance.

3.5 Analog Output

It is convert Flow Rate value to 4-
4- 20mA signal and output to external device.
It is provide Internally powered by the controller type only.

4. Operation
4.1 Flow Measurement
K- Factor : The number
number of pulses per flow rate and is determined to the flow
meter or pipe arrangement.

Rate: Flow per time unit (Volumetric Flow Rate).

Frequency * time base

Rate =
K- Factor

4.2 Display Information

The totla, resettable, is shown in the lower
lower display and the current flow rate in
the upper, Press Mode/ Dis key once to get the accumulated total on display,
and press it once again to get back to initial display.
Press Enter/ Reset key to clear the current total to zero.
To clear the accumulated to total
tal to zero, you must go Program Mode > Flow Set
> ACC RESET > YES, and press Enter/ Reset key.

4.3 Pulse Output+

Output+
The pulse output is produces a pulse each time the Resettable Total value
increments.

It is output a convert the no unit pulse into the unit pulse in the Flow Meter
output. Because Open Collector output, It is usable to connect the Counter or
extra addition meter at external.

K- Factor / 10 Decimal Point [ Pulse Input]

1 [ Pulse Output] = K-

For example, In the state not set up the Decimal Point aboutabout the Resettable
Decimal Point, If you set up the K-
K- Factor for 0.1, The pulse output is produces
a pulse every the input Pulse 0.1piece. Actually, The pulse output is produces
ten pulses every the input a Pulse. If you set up the K-
K- Factor for 10, and set
set
up the decimal point for 0.0, The pulse output is produces a pulse every the
input Pulse one piece. Equally, If you set up the K K-- Factor for 10, and set up
the decimal point for zero, The pulse output is produces a pulse every the
7
input Pulse ten pieces
4.4 Relay Output
The high/ low alarm is generated based on the current flow rate and the current
parameter. The contact type is normal open contact.
Relay 1 is for the high alarm and relay 2 for the low. The realy is turned on and
off according to the vales set in Relay 1 Set Point and Relay 2 Set Point. If you
set both of them to zero, ther alarm relays do not work.

High Alarm (Relay1 is closed. No contact)

Normal (Both of the Relays are open for contact)

Low Alarm (Relay2 is closed. No contact)

4.4.1 Alram Dead Band Setting

Case of the Alarm Dead Band is in environs the Alarm for operation, The Alarm
is On/ Off a continuous.

hysteresis value.
The Dead Band fixing range is set up to the 0~ 50000 the last double figures

so that you are carefull y. For example, Case of the decimal point is select the
0.0, the range is a state fixable to the 0.0~ 5000.0.

4.5 Analog Output

4- 20mA output is generated by how much the flow rate is.

If the flow rate is same or less than the value set in 4mA Set-
Set- Point < Program
Mode, 4mA is generated. If it is same or more than the value set in 20mA Set- Set-
Point, 20mA is generated. If it falls between the values set in 4mA Set Set-- Point
and 20mA SetSet-- Point, analog output is generated in proportion to that value.

If the output is generated in wrong value, you can correct it in Program Mode
easily on the spot.

5. Programming
5.1 How to Handle the keys
In order to get in the program mode directory, press and hold the Up key and
Shift key simultaneously for 3 seconds. Model name is displayed in upper line
and the current option in lower line on the same display while the version blinks
3 times. Release the keys and it gets stable. Press the Enter key here and you
see the Flow Set on display. From this time you can modify any prar prarameter
ameter
group you want. To move to another prarameter group, press the up key one
by one until the parameter group you want appears. The last group is Test.

If you continue to press the up key after the last group Test appears, it pulls
Program Menu Exit on display. Press the Enter key here and you get out of the
programming mode.

At the time when the name of a parameter group shows on display, just press
Enter key to get the first menu on display in which you can enter, change and
correct the value as needed.
needed. If you are done with one menu, you can move to
another with pressing Enter key.

When you are done with programming of a parameter group after modifying the
last menu and want to move to another parameter group, press the Enter key
to have End of Set on display which signals that modifying the parameter
group is now complete. Here, press the Enter key one more time to have the
Program Menu Exit on display and then press the up key. This will return you to
the first parameter group. From there, you can repeat
repeat the same action as
explained above, i.e., move between the groups by using the up key.

5.2 Programming Mode Shift Method

Program mode consists of 3 parameter groups : Flow Set, Option and Test.
You can move to each parameter group with up key, When you you press up key
after you move to a parameter group, it pulls next parameter group on display
as described above.

5.3 Programming Mode Exit Method

After you make sure that the parameter group has been set up properly or
when you simply want to get out to where
where you were, you may want to exit
programming mode : Press Enter key when End of Set appears on display,
9
then you get ‘ EXIT/ PROGRAM MENU’
MENU’ on display. Just press Enter key. Now
you are out of the parameter programming mode. The ‘ EXIT/ PROGRAM MENU’ MENU’
rightt next to the End of Set menu in each parameter group.

Case of the parameter input a figure, If push the “Shift”

Shift” Key, move one digit by
one. In the digit, If push the “Up”
Up” Key, figure increase one by one, again
change to zero after increase to 9

After the modification or confirmation is complete

complete for the Parameter, as push
the “Enter/ Reset”
Reset” Key, It is display the next particle as escape from the
appropriate heading.
