DIRECTOR  Steven Spielberg is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He
is considered one of the pioneers of the New Hollywood era and is also one
of the most recognized and popular directors in the global film industry.
 In his films, he has dealt with very diverse themes and genres. His early
science fiction and adventure films, such as Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of
the Third Kind (1977), the Indiana Jones franchise, and E.T. the Extra-
Terrestrial (1982), are considered archetypes of modern Hollywood escape
cinema. In later years he began to address humanist themes such as the
Holocaust, the Atlantic slave trade, civil and political rights, war and terrorism
in films such as The Color Purple (1985), Empire of the Sun (1987), The List of
Schindler (1993)
FILMING

 Spielberg wanted to film Jurassic Park in Costa

Rica, the main setting where the events of the
novel take place, however in the end he
preferred the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi,43
where he had previously filmed Raiders of the
Lost Ark.

SOUNDTRACK

 Composer John Williams began writing the

film's soundtrack in late 1992. In his opinion:
"the musical themes should combine a feeling of
admiration and fascination with the
overwhelming happiness and excitement" of
seeing dinosaurs alive.
 The film is based on a book written by artist Michael
Crichton published in 1990. The original novel is
TRIVIA very different from the film, mainly the book is much
darker, scarier and more brutal than the film.
